Hi,

I never felt that Virgo really fit the quicksilver, flighty type Mercury which I feel definitely rules Gemini and the 3rd house. I have Mercury in 3rd house myself. I feel that Mercury in Virgo can be a good placement for Mercury it's grounded, practical, detailed, analytical thinker. I think Ceres could have an analytical side too. I feel that being practical, detailed, neatness, and analytical can be important in nurturing. I mean having a roof over your head, making a living, and keeping track of your living expenses is important. A mother cannot be an adequate mother if she can't afford to pay for food, the rent, and clothes to put on her kids' back. Especially in this day and age. It would be unrealistic to think that you can raise your children without having any money or job...unless you want to plan go on welfare or some other govt assistance. There are a lot of mothers that do that. A good mother needs to be neat and clean. If they are neat and clean, how do you expect them to change their baby's dirty diapers or wash clothes? Hygeine is so important for a mother to have. If they don't have good hygeine, then the child doesn't have good hygeine. I don't know about you,but if I had a partner who doesn't know anything about keeping things neat and orderly,I wouldn't want to be with that person. How in the world would she be able to take care of children. I would want to make my place neat and clean, so children don't have to deal with funky smells, bugs, and don't end up swallowing a foreign object. I feel that common sense is an important thing for a mother to have. They have to be practical and realistic. it's not just about feelings, instincts, and intuition.

I also think agriculture is a science and that it involes analyzing, disseminating, discriminating, and separating which are Virgo things. Ceres was an agricultural goddess. It makes sense that she can can be analyzing, disseminating, discriminating, and separating.

I really don't have much else to say. I am convinced that Ceres should be ruler of Virgo. Ceres in Pisces as the sign of detriment makes sense to me because it can be so impractical and not pay attention to details and be too tolerant/accepting. Ceres in Cancer as its exaltation makes sense to me because Cancer is very nurturing. Ceres in Capricorn in fall makes sense to me. Ceres in Saturn's sign can be a bit cold. Cronos/Saturn was a lousy, control freak father who devoured his children so he can maintain his authority. Interestingly,Saturn was said to be an agricultural God. He did wield the sickle which he was said to have cut off Uranus' gonads. How is that for detachment?? HAHAHAHAHA.

Even the constellation of Virgo has been viewed as the Goddess of the Harvest.

The Moon is the ruler of Virgo in Esoteric Astrology. I guess the esoteric astrologers look deeply into Virgo and notice its nurturing, mother traits which I have always recognized without even reading about Esoteric Astrology.

I have to admit that having my Moon in 6th house might have something to do with it. hahahahaha. My mother has Virgo on 4th house cusp. Her mother had Moon in Virgo, but she left my mom forever when my mom was a baby. So many factors to consider. Free will is the ultimate factor imho.

And for a mother to perform all these tasks, it really helps if her partner supports her in any way he can....emotionally, as well as financially.....and practically of course.

When our son was born I nearly died, and without the help of my very able partner, God knows what would have happened. I only had energy to breast feed our baby......I was too weak to do anything else for a while...

Fortunately my husband.........yeah you guessed it, is a ..............VIRGO........HAHA!!!

Hi Glaucus

Loved your post! made sense to me! I think Ceres is a good fit for Virgo..I'm about as practical as they come.. And although I am not the neat freak often associated with the sign of Virgo, I do run a tight ship, worry about finances and not running out of money before I run out of month! I am nurturing to those I am around and have really made an effort to be more self-nurturing as well.
Mother of two....
Virgo Sun, Merc, Venus and Ceres Conjunct in the 7th Cancer on the cusp... Taurus IC

Glaucus,

I've been reading your posts about Ceres, and I really think you're right. I have a Virgo asc. I am very motherly with many people. My kids are adults, but I still have to be a mom to both of them.

My daughter is Cancer w/ Virgo asc, and she is a very caring & tender mother. Her & my brother (virgo) are so sensitive when it comes to kids. When my granddaughter had to have stitches I was the one in the room with her cuz Mom couldn't bear it. She was about to loose it.

Different charts/different styles-for some reason I detatch during a crisis. My heart breakes, but I am there to see it through.

I wonder what would have happened if I had not been there. Would she have gone in the room? Will she develope the stomache for the painful stuff? Just curious questions.
