What sign and houseplacement of mercury would show a talent for foreign languages ?

I think Gemini or Virgo on the 3rd house cusp.

Are there any other indications ?

When I think of someone speaking foreign languages, I think of Jodie Foster. She has a Scorpio Sun, Mercury, Venus & Neptune in the 11th House.

In her 3rd House is Jupiter and Chiron in Pisces.

Makes me think maybe why her inspiration to produce and star in the movie Nell, about the girl discovered in the woods who spoke her own language.

Mercury in positive aspect in maybe Jupiter or Uranus and maybe in the 9th as someone suggested. I'm sure having mercury in its natural signs would help too.

I have Mercury in tight conjunction with Jupiter in Aquarius in the 7th hse (very close to the 8th).

I have very good foreign language skills, learn them very easily, understand them quickly and am good at accents etc.

interestingly I think merc in the 8th as well. My friend has mercury/venus in the 8th in Libra and is majoring in linguistics.

Probably everything as mentioned.. 9th, 3rd, 11th, Sagittarius.

I have merc & venus in the 9th, and I do like foreign languages, but I don't look or study into it deeper. Even though I would in the future. I do like philosophy, foreign travels though.

I can speak 8 languages...my jupiter + venus are in the 9th house, I've got sag intercepted in 3rd/4th house-cusp, gemini is intercepted in 9th/10th house.

Interesting topic..

I'm doing a degree in Linguistics right now, and I just love language. I don't think I have any sort of gift in the subject but it's one of my passions for sure.

I have 5 planets in Sag, including mercury. As for houses I have a loaded fifth and no planets in the 9th or 3rd.

Interesting....my mother speaks about 4 I think. Her native tongue Nyanja, the official language Portuguese, French, and something else that I forgot. She's a virgo with Mercury Libra in the 8th. Jupiter conjuncts her asc in Pisces.

With my knowledge of Portuguese I was very good at taking any of the Romance Languages in High school. I aced Spanish in 7th and 8th grade and got high honors in Italian throughout highschool. I have mercury in cancer in the 6th trine pluto, opposite neptune, sextile my moon in virgo. Oh, and my Jupiter's in the 5th.

I speak 4 languages at the highest level, although my 3th house begins in Scorpio and I have Saturn in it But of course i have Mercury(Aries,7th house) Trine Uranus(Sagittarius,3th house) plus Mercury Sextile
Jupiter(Aquarius,5th house) plus MC in Gemini and North Node in the 9th house.

I speak five languages fluently and I think that it has to do with my cap sun in the 3rd house including my mercury and mars there...think it also explains my fascination with this aries guy who has his venus, mars, and saturn in the 8th house in gemini.

I have Mercury in Sagittarius also, but its not particularly where its at, its what aspects it makes, and its trine my Jupiter. My 9th house cusp is aries and i have mars conjunct P.Fort, conjunct MC so when i apply myself its great.

i have mars,the moon and jupiter in the 9th house and fifth house mercury,who is also the ruler of the ascendant makes a grand trine with 1st house lilith and nineth house jupiter.i can speak 3 different languages and understand other two(though i have some difficulties in speaking regarding the latter ones)

Cancer on my 3rd house cusp...You'd think I'd know my mother tongue!? Nope! My parents barely spoke to me in any other language than English. I understand it tho.

I picked up French fairly easily in school. Forgot it just as easily too...cuz I dont use it. I also have Mercury opposite Jupiter.

I was very good with languages. It came very naturally to me.

I have a lot of planets in sag, which I've read is good for foreign languages. I have mercury in the 9th. Moon and venus in the 8th. Sun in the 10th.

I speak 6 languages more or less fluently. I've never had much problems learning a new language and I'm also pretty good at getting the accent down.

My 9th House is in Sagittarius and it is loaded with planets (Mercury conjunct Jupiter; Uranus; Neptune); my Sun is in Sagittarius as well.

I have a hard time with languages. I'm good with learning basic stuff, but it's conjugating and grammatical aspects that I have a problem with. I wish I could learn more about culture......or find some other way to learn a language besides sitting in class and listening to a teacher. I just get so bored. And it's sad, cause I want to learn a foreign language and I want to be fluent, but I just wish it could be taught to me differently.

I have Mercury in Taurus (retrograde) in the 6th house.

Looks like I see emphasis on the 3rd, 8th & 9th House. Also looks like Scorpio & Sagittarius influences are strong. Strong Mercury placements. Anyone compile the stats so far?
