Hello all,

I can't seem to get any results in the search (I get a blank white window) when looking for old threads...

I'm wondering if anyone has any knowledge about natal indicators that suggest/imply OCD (mental health disorders). My limited knowledge (I am a novice) makes me think Uranus,Mercury,Pluto,3rd House could be involved. I'm just not experienced enough to put it all together. Any help would be welcome

Gratefully,
Marianne

Here is my 2 cents

I don't believe that there are any clear cut astrological indicators for mental health disorders. There aren't any clear cut astrological indicators for neurodivergent conditions(autistic spectrum disorders, learning disorders, and attention deficit disorders). The symptoms of mental health disorders and neurodivergent conditions can overlap.

Autistic spectrum disorders and Dyspraxia can involve obsessive-compulsive behaviors.

This is coming from a Dyslexic,Dyspraxic.

any "abnormal" behavior (like OCD) is socially constructed...

I know someone with OCD (as well as a general anxiety disorder AND anorexia) who is a Cancer sun and Leo ascendant. Very sensitive with the Cancer sun, and I've read that a water sun combined with fire ascendant tends to make a person anxious. Jupiter in the ascendant plus the Cancer sun gave her a face shape/body type she hated, which was a factor in the anorexia and OCD. Mercury is also Leo but I don't know how much difference that makes.

I'm wondering if a harshly aspected Neptune could lead to the delusions involved in the compulsive behaviour.

Pluto must surely be involved as well?

I just checked and Pluto is square her sun and moon. Not sure what that would mean in regard to the OCD though.

Marie... Hi! and Welcome

I have a friend who is OCD / Manic/ and has anxiety issues. He is on a boatload of Meds.
Which with regards to the OCD makes him just the opposite. Where he was "overly concerned" (anal)...he now does not care at all. He's completely undependable on all fronts..I don't know which is worse. There can never seem to be a happy medium...

However, some things in his chart that stuck out to me are:

Leo Rising square Sun
Sun- Scorpio 4th
Saturn-Capricorn- 6th
(I've read that Saturn in the 6th can be prone to depresion)
Mercury- Scorpio -3rd sq. Jupiter (has a hard time with the truth)
Pluto and Uranus in the 1st
Mars square Uranus (angry)
Neptune 3/4th
All his planets are in houses 1-6
it is very much all about him.

His mother is also depressed which also leads me to believe that he is very much a product of his environment.

I hope this helps and I mean no offense to anyone else that may have these placements or aspects... I'm no expert...just observant. I also have my own obsessive tendancies...Pluto inthe 8th.

I actually have a diagnosed generalized anxiety disorder, dysthymic disorder, and avoidant personality disorder. I don't have strong fire. I have strong Water.
Anxiety is connected to fear.

Moon in Pisces in 6th square the opposition of Saturn in Gemini in 9th and Jupiter-Neptune in Sagittarius in 3rd. T SQUARE is the main indicator for my history of anxiety and depression. That configuration can reflect my Dyslexia,Dyspraxia, and special education history, and my insecurity about my intelligence.

As a Dyspraxic, I do have a history of being obsessive-compulsive. I have Sun in Scorpio in 2nd,Mercury conj Venus in Scorpio in 3rd along with Pluto in 1st. My Virgo Ascendant is a such a worrier and is afraid of making mistakes, but that is more about my fear of people thinking that I am stupid because of my Dyslexic,Dyspraxic. I was known as "retarded" as a little child when I was in special education. Like many learning disabled,I compensate all the time to strongly cover my weakness by utlizing my strengths. That's also because I don't want people to think that I am stupid, and so I do my best to minimize mistakes. It all makes sense.

You will find that anxiety, depression, and obsessive compulsiveness is common in neurodivergent people like myself. It's based on our difficulties of not fitting in the norm, being seen/treated/called "stupid",and our feelings of inadequacy. Insecurity and low self esteem tends to be our greatest weaknesses. They could destroy us. That's what happened to my father who had had Dyslexic,Dyspraxic traits who had anger and drug issues that he was out of my life since I was 1 yrs old. Being a black man born in 1941,life wasn't easy for him. Blacks were often thought as being less intelligent. Being an awkward, clumsy black man with speech and auditory processing problems definitely make look less intelligent. He was also diagnosed a schizophrenic by prison psychiatrists in a time where many blacks have been misdiagnosed as having schizophrenia. But my mom is white. Living life as a mixed person has always been an issue in my life too.

beware that people with hard Neptune aspects can be misdiagnosed and be hypersensitive to drugs including medications. That's definitely me too. I was diagnosed schizoaffective Bipolar disorder because of my Dyspraxic,Dyslexic-related speech by psychiatrists but they didn't know about my special education history that included speech therapy. I am an awkward, clumsy person with speech and auditory processing problems like my father. I shared a similar fate as my father in regards to misdiagnosing me because of my neurodivergence.

A lot of psychiatrists see irritability as mania way too much, and forget that it is also a symptom of depression and anxiety. It even says so in DSM-IV-TR Diagnostic Stastical Manual of Mental Disorders.

So being angry and having rages isn't necessarily bipolar, it could be depression and even anxiety. Also many neurodivergent people can have emotional meltdowns...especially people on the autistic spectrum disorder. It's really important that we distinguish the mentally ill from the neurodivergent. Both have something in common..they don't fit the norms of society. The norms get narrower and narrower.

I have OCD and I have Cancer sun, virgo rising. I think this combo does it for me. Virgo is details and Cancer sensitivity. O think on something forever, great for problem solving. Lol (everything has it's pros and cons. Gemini mars and venus, scattered energy and the need to be intellectual plus talkative. Mercury and Jupiter in leo, sensitive to my opinions.

OCD behaviors - I've got 2 OCD charts. Both have afflicted Mercury and afflicted Mars. Both have anaretic Pluto.

One has heavy Virgo personal planets, the other strong Neptune.

I can relate to this a lot. My mind is constantly dissecting everything, I need constructive and creative outlets or I can get myself lost in these eternal loops..

I have a t-square between my libra sun/Mars/merc conjunction in 6th house square cap Saturn/Neptune/Uranus 9th, uranus cusp of 8/9 opposite cancer Jupiter 3rd.

Tons of restless energy! I was held back for ADD and "dyslexia" and in the past I've been diagnosed with depressive disorders.. Although I don't really believe them or in categorizing myself.. But I certainly can swing to the edge, and go to extremes mentally. I still suffer from depression, every so often I just get overwhelmed and melancholic.

I also have my Venus in Scorpio conj Pluto on DC, if anything I feel like I'm chronically suspicious and skeptical.. I analyze sooo much, get waay to deep into things that I'll give myself mental breakdowns, just drive myself insane processing all these different layers of stimuli.
