Would a person with Jupiter in the 3rd House have traits of a Gemini (as far as communications skills are concerned)? I mean, would it make them kind of talkative and chatty, similar to a Gemini?

I remember reading somewhere (can't remember where, though) that Jupiter in the 4th House would make a person very dedicated to their family. Now I was wondering if the same principle also applies to the 3rd House ... being it the house of communication and everything.

Yes ..it does

Jupiter is the planet of expansion
3rd house is communications

Whatever house Jupiter is in the areas of that house expand.

In 3rd house,Jupiter expands communications.

So people with Jupiter in 3rd house have expansive communications, and so they communicate a lot.

I have Jupiter in 3rd myself, and I am very communicative.

I have 4 planets in 3rd house(the natural ruler,Mercury,Venus,Jupiter, and Neptune, and I have Sun in 2nd near the 3rd house cusp....I have a very active, restless nervous system more than a person with just the Sun in Gemini.

Thanks a lot!

So just to make sure I'm not confusing things here: Jupiter in the 3rd House would also make people with Ascendants that normally would suggest a more retiring nature (like Cancer or Pisces for instance) more communicative than people with that Ascendant, but whose Jupiter is not in located the 3rd House ... correct?

My 7 year old has Jupiter in the 3rd house along with his Sun and Merc and he talks way to much for me. He talks at school to much he talks to strangers to much. He just talks, talks, talks. And every night he wants to call atleast 3 or 4 of his classmates to talk. He always says I just want to chit chat..

I just look at him like try being quiet for a minute..LOL!!

i doubt it... all of you also have some OTHER gemini trait. i think it depends a lot on the sign of Jupiter and jupiter's aspects to mercury...

i have a gemini jupiter opp mercury in sag and I do talk a lot... BUT

my jup is in the 4th and do not care about my family at all. in fact, i'm something of an outsider... i really don't feel that i belong or that we have anything in common.

but i read somewhere that jupiter points the way to how one can improve their life by exhibiting the said traits; it was about the sign traits, but if u feel that being more gemini-like would benefit you, i don't see any reason not to consciously behave like a gemini. u can be anything u want to be

Jupiter is my ascendant-ruler and it`s in pisces in 3rd house.
I just don`t know any limits, if it comes to talking, writing, communicating.
I`m not only a talker, but I love, no, NEED, to write. Stories, poems, thoughts, whatever, and it`s always fantasy-stories or vampire-stories (even though that`s more Plutonian than Neptunian; I ahve both inside of me I think) and fanfiction (which reminds me I should get back to that PoTC-story I started some time ago).
so communicating? Yes, it`s like the air to breathe for me.
I even communicate much via emails, and they tend to be long, very long.
Luckily I can talk a lot in my job (I`m a teacher) and I have friends, who are as talkative as I am (the average length of a phone call with my best friend - we call each other almost every day- is 1 - 2 hours - Geez, no wonder, I don`t have time to do anything else. lol)

Thank you all for sharing your experiences.

What about a person with Jupiter in Virgo in the 3rd House (Jupiter is also sextile the Ascendant), and Mercury in Sagittarius in the 6th House? I might be wrong here, but wouldn't those placings make a person quite chatty and communicative?

I read in one book, that you will find Jupiter's luck when you enact the traits of (act like) the sign of your Jupiter.

Just throwing that out there.

That's true cristina, I have mercury opposite jupiter, too. And sun conjunct mercury, although a lot of people do. Sometimes talking a lot has it's downside though....I interrupt people a LOT when we're talking, especially if someone is trying to tell a story and I was there, I start telling it because I get excited. My friends can't stand it. I use my hands a lot when I talk, too.

here is an interp for Jupiter in 3rd house from Kepler program.

Jupiter in 3rd:
You have a great love of learning and an eager, curious, active mind which impels you to travel and see as much of the world as possible. You read widely, and may excel academically. You love being in a teacher-student relationship and may stay in school for many years, prolonging your studies for as long as possible! You also communicate well and would be an effective, inspiring teacher.

Public relations or any field involving communications and sharing information also suits you very well.

UGH my Gemini Asc/Gemini Sun sister has Jupiter in the 3rd. And it's a singleton at that. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome placement (all placements are to me...) But she *really* does talk too much. Like far too much sometimes. She's hilarious though so sometimes she can be fun, especially since her Jupiter is in Leo.
