Some places I find that it's really long, like a year and a half.. and then some I see that it's only for a few months.

It depends on whether Saturn or Venus is the transiting planet and whether or not Saturn or Venus is retrograde. If Saturn is the transiting planet, it can last a long time. From your description it sounds like Saturn IS the transiting planet.

i do feel a bit reclusive, and have since september. it's just that lately i've been really wanting to go out and be social and meet some new people, possibly a new partner. it just seems that the sky has it out for me at the moment in that aspect. because for some reason, no matter how hard i try, i can't seem to get out.. things always get in the way.

I think that I had a transit somewhat like it last year. I spent the whole year not finding one ounce of love until the summer where I dated a man for the whole summer and it turned out to be a complete disaster, the mercury retrograde came, we broke up.. and now that it's back we're talking again.
