I once had an astrologer recommending that for my solar return, I went halfway across the globe to a particular point in the Atlantic Ocean, all this to insure that I would have the perfect relationship, job, etc... for that year.

I am still rolling my eyes at this advice.

Now, if I have to travel by car a couple of hours to insure a good solar return, fine, but a whole journey and spend thousands of dollars, just to be at a particular spot at a particular time?? I don't think so... That's just me. I love and believe in astrology, but that was a bit too much.

Well last year for my solar return, I was on holidays. It might have an impact, being in a different place would change asc and all the other houses. Solar returns are done from the place you are at at the moment of the solar return.

I've been contemplating the possibility of traveling to another city (and in fact, in another country as well) which would happen to coincide with my next solar return. This thread has given me some hope, some positive stuff to look forward to- if I decide to take the trip in the end (but not for the sake of just my birthday).

In www.astro.com they have something called astro travel, and it can tell you about the energy that can affect you in a particular place.. I find it more and less accurate (thought I wish it to be less as the current place I'm living seems to be described as hewl for me lol).. maybe you can take a look there.. ^_^ but I dunno much about Solar returns and etc..

I don't put a lot of store in Solar Returns. I've tried to follow mine. A recent one seemed more relevant for the year that occurred after. Most just leave me blank. I think following the transits etc., are better, but that is just my point of view. So for me, going to another place would not change anything.

I've never done a Solar Return chart, and I don't know what they're good for.

My birthday is approaching, though, and I will be in Tennessee. If anyone wants to give me any insight, please feel free.

We actually went over this a couple of months ago in this forum (I'll try to dig up the thread if I'm feeling ambitious later). Many posters who contributed said they didn't think traveling could really alter the course of your year, even if the astrology of the Solar Return chart was different...and you would have to go quite a distance from your current location to significantly affect the chart.

I dunno; my last couple of SR charts have been pretty accurate, especially the one for 2007-8. I was tempted to try to take a plane trip for my birthday this year so I could have a slightly different chart (just to see what would happen) until I noticed that a) I'd have to fly all the way to the East Coast of the U.S. to see any real difference (I'm on the left coast, so it'd be a big trip) and b) I'm actually going to have a "better" chart if I stay where I am (more or less).

Is your SR chart for this year really stressful-looking or something?

i will give you my example:
i've been living outside my native country for about 8 years. every year, i travel for my birthay, be it holidays in other countries or back to my country to celebrate it with family & friends. i've been doing this for years. but not because of solar chart.
what i can tell you is that this does not change anything. in my case, i 've been living unable to bring decisions for years, regarding my private life (or maybe is that saturn in 7th house that keeps me from tying knots?). and i can tell you that my life didn't change 360 degrees....

Sorry. I apparently never saw that offer. I did get help with a solar return chart that year from someone.

I traveled last year for my birthday...honestly? I cant seem to tell a major difference, but that could be because Im going thru some of them transit wise. Im not sure.
