does it really affect your looks? i dont know i use to think so but im not sure, what are your thoughts? ------------------

Um, I have Libra rising, and most of the time my BMI is within the standard range. When I'm in my best shape, my weight would be just about between the lowest and the highest limits of BMI. But I usually have curves. I used to tend to reward myself with a scoop of ice cream whenever I thought a joyful thing had happened to me (I'm not sure if I'll keep doing this- I hope not). However, what's more worrysome is that I'd always binge on desserts, carbohydrates when someone has upset me or hurt my feelings seriously. The last time it happened was in early November, and I still haven't shaked off my excessive weight- which makes me slightly overweight now, and I HATE that.I've never had problems with my features. Only problems with my waistline, my belly, and my hips- they're all a bit too curvy. IP: Logged |

Oh yeah for me for sure. I have aries AC and my hair is reddish and I'm certainly a doer and blunt person. I identify with my asc a lot. I have jup conj my asc and I put weight on thighs and hips. I also have plu opp asc which makes my features darker than normal.IP: Logged |

Above answers:  My opinion, no, your ascendant doesn't affect your physical traits. I have a Gemini Ascendant, and if you look you can find my picture here and at LindaLand PhotoShop. I don't think I look like a Gemini. My hair is the same color as my Leo mom's. My face and build are very much derived from my Aries dad (though I'm taller and not as stocky). My ascendant may influence to a degree what I wear... like I'm wearing a long sleeved yellow and grey shirt right now, which doesn't much correlate to a Capricorn Sun.

To an extent, kinda. I want to believe that ASC and aspects to it have influence, but I'm never really sure. I know for a fact that I'm interested in clothes because of Leo ASC. But clothes are not my skin and bones. I don't have wild Leonine hair. I don't have a regal walk (very bad posture). My build is frail and not solid and queenly. Here are the aspects:
square Sun, Mars, Saturn, Pluto
sextile Venus
trine Jupiter, Uranus

I don't know. I don't particularly think I look all that Virgoan, personally. I think I look more like my Sun sign (Aries).

i am a libra asc and i look like a mix of my asc and my sun sign, along with other things, i think. but there is definitely the influence of the asc in my physical looks.IP: Logged |

I am Pisces rising, and it's well aspected by Saturn and Jupiter, so I am tall (jupiter's expansion) and slim (Saturn's restrictions). Growing up I felt very unattractive, but Saturn being the lord of time, as I got older I felt better and better about myself.  IP: Logged |

Generally I think that the rising sign affects a person's appearance only partly. Most things depend on genetics, I think. However, I do believe that certain features are the result of a person's Ascendant (for instance the famous Scorpio stare).IP: Logged |

I don't think so....I think our looks have more to do with heredity. But, there are some traits you can tell in others that have to do with their astro placements, like someone who has a piercing glaze could have some Scorpio influence. Or a person who has a spaced out look, might be a Pisces, etc. But I don't think you can say "I have long flowing hair thanks to my Libra ASC"....you just have good genes. everybody is right of course! Genetics and nurture mean a great deal.
Certain "looks" seem to be representative of certain signs.
An attribute of Female Taurus & Cancer can be larger breasts or an Earth Mother soft fullness.
Capricorn and Aries males head shape-
An Aries glyph showing on an Aries forehead when angry..
Libras are handsome and beautiful & usually have non-botoxed cupid-bow lips-(Bridgette Bardot, Nikita Kruschev, Eros)
Female Sagitarrians often have wide rear-ends with smaller waists.
Female Pisces are small with dark hair and dreamy expressions (Liz Taylor) The exceptions are as many as the rule however! I have sometimes wished to be a dainty dark-haired man magnet Pisces. INSIDE perceptions of myself show me as a 5'2" curvy brunette!
The reality is I am a 6' Blonde Valkrie!
The Plutonian Leo Ascendent causes an intensity around me so I am noticed wherever i am. With this comes a 'regal bearing' and others immediate love or dislike.
The Leo has a better fit for my looks astrally- and yes, my Sag moon behind-er is represented!

Yes I think it does some-what.... in "cooperation" with my cancer sun though. I have the oval face that is cappy plus the cheekbones. I'm not sure about the eyes though, mine are cancerian (large and watery) with a virgo shape (the almond/cat). My body for a while was wiry and capricorn-like when saturn hit my sun but my cancerian curves have come back...thanks to transiting jupiter  . So now I actually have to work out at the gym...drats!! But throughout, I've had the big boobs but not the light skin that cancer is supposedly famous for. I'm dark-skinned like cappy. I'm darker than most of the members of my family.
I don't think my rising affects the way I dress though. There's nothing cappy about my style (the bright colors). I've narrowed that down to either the fact that I have venus in the 5th...and in gemini, or the fact that Uranus conjuncts my chart ruler, or that I have most of my first house taken up by Aqua. My 7th house sun could be the reason I have this need to match...or my virgo moon. Who knows...

Well genetics is what really determines us. However the little tweaks are the astrology and can be rising for appearance. For example I look very similar to my mum but her hair is darker and eyes are intense. She is a sco, shame I don't know her asc. However compared to me, I have the above stuff, am a good 6 inches taller than her, have reddish hair, sleepy eyes but daring, am blunt, direct etc - this is aqu with aries asc, conj jup.
AG - I've seen pics of you and there certainly is a youthfulness there that I would attribute to Gem AC.
Tuxedo - I know many tall blonde piscean women, two of them easily nearly 6'. There are also different types to one sign/rising. For example, there are dark (straight hair) and light aqus (with wavy hair) that I know. Likewise with sco etc IP: Logged |

about genes affecting looks:me and my sis have a faint resemblance....other ppl can spot it but we think we look very different. and the funny thing is, neither of us looks anything like our parents!! its really weird.... my sis is darker and thin and wiry....also shorter....she is a cancer with a cappy asc, and she has those intense scorpio-mooner eyes i am a cappy with a cancer asc, and i do hv kinda pale skin, much lighter than my sister's....and well, i need to diet and workout as i tend to put on weight very easily. Actually my facial features seem more influenced by my Sun rather than my ascender. I have a Libra sun and well according to Linda, seems like there ain't a Libra out there that doesn't lack dimples Lol! (So yeah I got dimpled cheeks. Meh!)The rest of me is definately falls under Leo but anyone can justify that with a regular trip to the gym. Though no, I do not justify looks with Astology. Though somethings do stick out. I.e. I have yet to meet a Scorpio who doesn't have deep penetrating eyes. BTW: Is it just me or did Linda seem to have a thing for Libras Lol! No insult intended offcourse. It seems like there were a bit TOO many positive things on the Libra Sign in her books. IP: Logged |

i agree with 23, that the rising/asc tweeks our looks somewhat. i've been told i'm a carbon copy of my mother, but not as innocent looking as her...i have scorpio rising (classic traits and all) with jup in the first house and the virgo almond shaped eyes. my mother is a sag sun with pisces rising, so more of a jovial and dreamy appearance.IP: Logged |

Scorpio ASc. in the 3rd decanate?I can say that I fit the mould, although the way I look at the world (outlook) affects the way I am perceived; on the street, you'd probably think I have a perpetual frown- but in reality, its more to do with the sensitivity my pisces eyes have to sunlight than to do with the fact I am naturally mistrustful. I could buy sunglasses, but I always lose them. And at night? I guess I still frown/narrow my eyes since I'd peer in the dark . . . S_T IP: Logged |

AG,I agree with 23, the fundamental trait of the Gemini ASC, the unusual youthfulness- can be seen in your present appearance. I had viewed your photos before this thread was started, and had the same idea as 23's. According to my own limited experiences, the Gemini rising is very adaptable, and it does not guarantee a consistent slim shape. For example, Drew Barrymore also has Gemini ascendant, but she's had her chubby days, and she herself admitted that. Personally, I don't think we should take those definitions/descriptions word by word when it comes to how rising signs influence our appearances; I don't think any ASC is restricted to a certain hair color, eye color, or height etc. I think the Moon plays a major part in our features and build as well, along with the influences from our sun signs, rising signs and the rest. Other significant factors, in my view, include the following- whether there's a planet in your 1st house, if so, which one; are there any conjunctions with your Moon, if so, which one(s); the houses where your Sun, Moon are; the houses where some of your other planets are, for instance, Jupiter, Venus; the house where your Venus is, and your Venus sign...so on and so forth. So, together they all mix and mingle, form what is our ever-modifying appearance, our aura, our first/general impressions upon others, and some of our tendencies. Genetics and nurturance do serve their importance- but I would guess that, for very advanced astrologers, even those can be revealed by interpreting an individual's precise natal chart  IP: Logged |

I've always found this subject interesting. I always take genetics into consideration first. With my strong Scorp placements one would think I look like an eagle, but that Venus conjunct my Asc softens everything and I have dimples not to mention being well endowed on top of being muscular.
My Pisces Moon shows why I have little feet since everyone else in my family wears a size 8 or bigger. Mine are size 6. I've had lots of people say they wonder how my feet hold me up.  IP: Logged |

I'm not totally convinced, however I have two sisters born 5 yrs apart, one is very dark (our dads ancestry) with straight hair, one is very fair (our ma's side) she has a mass of curls, they could be twins, true, people mistake them often (though I don't know how???) they are both gem rising, one has Scorp Sun/Leo Moon, the other has Aries Sun/Scorp Moon.
