the nodes,north and south are the intersection of the moon's orbit and the earths celestial equator.the nodes are where the the moons latitude changes from north to south or vice versa.until about 1975 ,astrolgical ephemeris's gave a average or mean position for the node,not a real position.since then
most ephemeris include the true position and still retain the mean position.
as for meaning LOL,it remains a illusive symbol
