Has anyone see anything connecting Saturn, Cap, to the 10th house to anorexia?

I'm trying to work out a hunch....

Awesome Gemini Nymph! During my first Saturn 7 Cycle...I was 14...I had anorexia...I went to treatment...worked hard on recovery...had a real spiritual rebirth. I became truly aware at that (age 15 actually...after treatment program.)..that Christ was within US. I mean..I cant explain it...the awareness of it dawned on me. I would DEFIBNATELY call it a MILESTONE in my spiritual growth and evolvement.

Keep on with this research!! I support you 100%

And...please feel free to ask me any questions...I'm happy to help with this. Do you read Rudolph Steiner? My children went to Waldorf School for 4 years...( Steiner School) Steiner had definate thoughts about the 7 year cycles with children and their spiritual state of being. I just reallt think that you are on to something. So Im happy to answer any questions. Nice to meet you.

Hello there GN:

I suffered from Anorexia around the age of 17. I have Saturn square my moon (no north node aspects though).

Kindest regards,

Isolaede

Not exactly anorexic but did control myself with food and exercise. Used to work out at the gym for 4 hours straight on saturdays and sundays instead of hanging out with friends/family. It literally ruined my life, my health: psychological and physical, and I was severely depressed at the same time.

Saturn in Capricorn in the 6th here. Saturn Conjunction Uranus. Saturn Opposition ASC. Scorpio on the 6th house cusp.

Interesting.

Cappyfish - while you don;'t have any direct aspect from Saturn to either moon or NN, you do have NN in Cap in the 10th. That's very intriguing. Thsi also puts your SN in Cancer in the 4th. So you have a strong Saturn-moon connection to your nodal axis.

My theory is this:

Saturn, along with Cap and 10th house, is associated with a personal's image in the eyes of others, discipline and seeking approval.

Saturn is also assocaited with father figure and authority - a source of criticism and judgement.

Anorexia is a form of "discipline" in a way, and also approval-seeking that is unhealthy because it is tied to a poor emotional state and a "dysmorphic" self image. The anorexic is typically over-criticizing of him- or herself.

It seems ot me that the anorexic assumes a sort of distorted Saturn persona in their own minds, telling themselves not to eat, to exercise more, that they're too fat, that they cannot be loved how they are.

I stress this is a *distorted* Saturn persona.

I am looking for links to moon because its connection to food as a source of comfort - a comfort that an anorexic feels unworthy of, just like they feel unworthy of that maternal-like unconditional acceptence and love.

I'm looking for links to the nodal axis because SN may indicate habits or patterns, as will as deeply rooted anxities. NN may indiacte a sense of destiny or purpose, a goal the person may feel they need ot acchieve. I have seen indicators that people who have very poor self image or low self esteem pursue their NN destiny in highly self-destructive ways.

This is SO fascinating GeminiNymph. Yes..very Saturnine for sure...we DENY ourselves every pleasure. The CHAINS of Saturn.

I want to say tho that I go by the equal house system...and my Natal Sun is in 3rd house...it also fits me much more than 4th house. Thats just just my opinion. Whats NN??

Keep up this work Nymph...because this is something so valuable for parents to know. They could be aware of these influences in the childs chart and the preventative measures for this disease are relativley minor. Compared to the HELL of the disease itself, I mean.

I have Cap MC, Saturn in 10th in opposition to Moon/NN conjuction.
No anorexia though, with the exception of a period of two years where I turned a bit ‘tubby’(gave up the cigs) I have always been what is considered a normal BMI.

my saturn info:
-libra, 3rd house
-conj mars,pluto..square moon, venus, nodal axis
-capricorn is on 6th house cusp, containing moon and venus which are conj in capricorn
-10th empty save for chiron tau which loosely trines venus, oh and its ruler [mars] is conj saturn

I had a bout with this [lasting 6 yrs or so, lowest was 107 at 5'6", not incredibly thin but bad enough] but after giving birth it seems to have turned itself around, now 147 or so [as in now i go to food for comfort esp carbs whereas before id deny myself food to feel more in control and secure]. part of me wants to go back to that way because of how disgusted with myself i am now [fat wise] mostly for efficiency reasons [as in less time to lose it than the healthy way], the other part of me feels like i dont have the willpower that i used to have so why bother. maybe its the libra stellium trying to find balance.

edit:
my nodal axis runs through sn cap 6th/nn cancer 12th

I have Virgo Saturn in the 1st hs conj NN, opposing Moon conj SN. Cap is on the cusp of the 6th hs. I do not suffer from anorexia but feel that I could if I had more will power to reject food. At least I can definitely identify with what you posted:

I think the part of it that you are talking about is the lLESS psychological and more of the NERVOSA part of it. ( Nervouis Condition) I always wondered in my youger years why uit was called Annorexia Nervosa...Now that Im older..When depressed or under pressure etc...I cant eat, and Im fine to be sustained, I feel this is the Nervosa part...whereas, in my youth, I was completel;y consious of what I was doing. I dont know..its my guess, but I would say you history of eating habits and your planet placement is Definately worth considering. I think this is worthy research that GemNymph is doing, dont you?

Hi GeminiNymph...

You seem to be pretty adept at casting and glancing at a horoscope. Would you mind looking at my son's? Nothing more beyond the research that you are doing, and I only would want to know if anything stands out at you regarding any of these aspects.

Gemini Nymph-
This is a very interesting topic!

My brother has anorexia, and he's a Capricorn rising with Saturn in the 1st house.
His Saturn makes a semisextile to his moon. No aspect to NN.

I have Saturn in Virgo 1st Opposed my Pisces Sun. I have strictly dieted in the past, I have restricted my food and exercised about 3 times a day. It was mostly when I was younger, I was feeling really depressed with my life, and I think this might have triggered this obsessive dieting off.

I hated my body was very self conscious and would cover up all the time under big shirts. I would look in the mirror and hated what I saw. With my Virgo Ascendant I could easily pick on the flaws and imperfections of my physical body. I can be self critical to the extreme.

I felt such a failure in every part of my life until I started to lose weight, and when I would get on the scales and see that I had lost weight, I did feel a sense of achievement for the first time in my life.

I did get carried away though and I even when I got to a nice weight and but was still too thin, I would still see parts of my body that still needed perfecting.

Maybe this is what the Saturn connection is all about to anorexia the feeling of achievement and control. When you feel you can't control other parts of your life (which feel chaotic) and you feel a failure. The one thing you can control is your eating and your weight.

I have Venus square Pluto also which could also be about controlling the physical appearance. I read in a psychology book once that one compulsion can often cover up another compulsion/addiction. Anorexia can cover up the compulsion to eat. I also have a Venus opposed Jupiter. I can have a large appetite, my mum used to feed us very big meals when I was younger.

Karen Carpenter (from the Carpenters) who died from anorexia. Has Saturn in Virgo in the 4th house Opposed her Sun Pisces 10th.

She has Cancer on the Asc maybe this makes her oversensitive about her appearance. Her Asc ruler the Moon is Conjunct Pluto so we have the control (Pluto) of weight/body (Cancer/Asc Moon.) she also had Uranus in Cancer 1st so possibly representing the detachment from her food/physical body.

I can't remember the rest of her aspects. But you can see the very controlling factors in her birth chart.
