Hi! I'm trying to relate some psychology stuff with astrology and am currently exploring the infamous Mars square Saturn.

Men with this aspect are said to have a hard time harmonizing their "masculine ego" (mars) with their super-ego (saturn) i.e one's set of inner rules and prohibitions, that ultimately prevent oneself from being confronted with our deepest fears (in this case, fear of castration, which is gained in childhood when the little boy is overly frustrated/punished for following his drives).

This aspect is said to either make men under-assertive or sexually impotent, or to overcompensate being over-assertive and sexually agressive (in order to send their saturn to hell).

It is also said to create a lot of tension, anger and frustration in a person and to make that person very hard-working.

Women with this aspect are said to have a negative or restrictive inner representation of men (a woman's "feminine ego" is related to Venus)

Do you agree with these interpretations? Anyone want to share what their experience has taught them about this aspect (either brave men having this aspect or women who have dated them)?

Take care

Dulce Luna,

How was your view of men before? And what is it like to have it in synastry?

I have this aspect. It does cause manic hard working tendencies. It does cause a lot of sexual imbalances too. Either there is absolutely no desire or there is just too much desire. Very difficult to find a balance.

Greetings again to you in Lisboa!

Anyways, first off...my saturn is in the 12th. I don't know how how to explain it. Due to a very rough relationship with daddy-dearest I realized that in the past I was never have never gotten completely close to a guy. Like I would have guy friends...but relationship-wise, it was hard. It was almost like I was waiting for that person to screw up or something. There has never been any trust on my part. So I only have myself to blame for failed relationships in the past *sigh*.

Also, I have this bad tendency to hold grudges....I'm not really one to forget past misgivings. As bad as it is for me and my health, I don't know that it will ever change...too much pride on my part.

And then this relationship came along, which took so long to get off the ground mostly because of the issues I mentioned above. That's mars square saturn in synastry for ya.

the mars square saturn is one of the rise and fall aspects.it indicates that a person, persevering through adversity, will attain their goal, but then will find themselves in front of another struggle.
it has to do with ego and resentment.the aspect indicates that the native will find many obstacles to their progress but the saturn determination will push through.once a native has reached their goal, they assume that they can now "cruise" to higher levels.but often fate changes the underlying fundementals and when the native applies the same techniques that got them to the top, these techniques are not longer applicable to the changed fundementals and loss inssues.it is like being on the wheel of fortune.one fights their way to the top,and expect conditions to continue, but the wheel starts turning down and the native steps empty space.

I too have this aspect. I feel I can relate a little too well.

Dulce Luna,

You must have had a really rough time with that aspect, but you gave me the impression that you’re conscious and more in control of the issues it brings… I tried to think about how I would feel if I didn’t trust women (men in your case) or hold grudges easily… It must be worse than the plague! What a burden you have there… Anyway have you ever been here is Lisbon? Where are you from?

Lqhunk,

What do you mean by “too much desire?”… too rough? Unsatiable?
Do you think that the inner tension that results from this makes you channel your energy into work and make you workaholic?

William,

“when the native applies the same techniques that got them to the top, these techniques are not longer applicable to the changed fundementals and loss inssues. it is like being on the wheel of fortune. one fights their way to the top, and expect conditions to continue, but the wheel starts turning down and the native steps empty space.”

Could you give me an example to illustrate your words?

Aquaspryt69,

Sorry for asking but since you wrote you could relate to what has been written, I’d like to know your gender. Female? (a sprite is like a faerie right?)

Unsatiable.

<<Do you think that the inner tension that results from this makes you channel your energy into work and make you workaholic? >>
Absolutely!

What William has written is strikingly true too. Every goal in my life has been reached after strenuous work only to find that the rules of the game change very soon afterwards, especially in work/career/business related matters. One has to keep changing regularly and be on the toes all the time. There is no time to savour success.

Yeah its a burden, but it helps now that I'm aware of this tendency. Before, I was just wondering why all my relationships would fall apart (the ol' "why me?" type of thing)

I was in Portugal for like an hour on my way to Mozambique a decade ago...I think it was Lisboa, but I know my grandfather was there on his way to the U.S. back in November....also coming from Mozambique. I'm from RI,USA where there are alot of Portuguese people but not many from the mainland...mostly Azoreans and Madeirans.
