Okay, I CANNOT stand progressed charts, the idea of it sounds stupid to me, and it doesnt seem to fit all the charts ive studied...ive really tried to work with it, but everytime i come back to studying it, i find it lacks validity...

TO everyone who believes in it...I have a question...WHY? does it really seem real to you?

eatbooks,

I NEVER use Progressed charts as stand alone charts, but ALWAYS use them in relation to the birth chart. Put the birth chart in the middle and put the Progressed chart around the outside and see if that helps.

Also, I don't look at the slower moving planets (i.e., Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) in the Progressed chart since they barely move in a Progressed chart and the birth chart frequently contains the same aspect as the Progressed chart! Instead, I use the other planets and see which houses they move into and out of.

One thing that is interesting to do is to follow Progressed charts for when a planet changes from one sign to the other. Frequently there will be a definite change of "inner world" energy around the time of the sign change. The easiest to follow is the Progressed Sun in the chart as it changes signs, since it moves about a day for a year. So, if your birth Sun (self-expression) is at 11 degrees Cancer (home, also emotions), it will progress to 0 degrees Leo about when you are 19 (11 degrees but 19 degrees equals 30 degrees...and the new sign Leo). This person would begin to feel the urge to move out of their home around the time they were 19.

Try it! It's fun! And, if it doesn't work, at least you will get VERY good at counting to 30!

Making progress,

Tim

Tim is right. Progressed charts on their own are not true horoscopes. So they are essentially worthless without the true horoscope (the natal chart). It is the same problem with a composite chart - that is not a true horoscope either, so on its own, it means virutally nothing. You have to compare that to the natal charts to get any accurate reading.

I admit to not liking pogressions because I apparently aren't very good with them. I'm slowly learning. At first it made no sense whatsoever, but I went back frfom time tot ime and learned a little more. A very knowledgable, experienced astologer who's doen their homework in this area can do some impressive work with progressions. I just happen not to be one of those.

I'm interested in progressed charts too. I've tried to interpret some other people's prgressed charts ( I don't know if any of it was correct but they were quite satisfied). I just realized that my sun has progressed into capricorn it's 1 degree. How do you exactly do the comparison? What's the difference exactly? Is it like I'm like a cappy sun now or a cappy influenced sagittarius?

jupiter,

Think of it as "your inner self-expression (Sun) has moved from being open to everything (Sagittarius) to wanting to set up some boundaries (Capricorn)." So in the coming years you will feel it is important for you to be "serious" and express yourself more "seriously". There will be a concern about being taken "serious" as well.

Seriously,

Tim

When my progressed Sun moved from Pisces into Aries I moved out of my mums home and got a place of my own. Some people find progressed charts useful others prefer transits alone for their predictive work.

I have to agree with finding them useless. Because according to the damn thing I'm now a leo sun/Taurus moon/aqua asc. Aqua Asc I can understand (aqua takes up most of my 1st house anyways) but the rest is like like wtf? Maybe I need to look at the aspects...Idk.

Dulce,

I find progressed charts most useful in looking at each part separately. So, instead of looking at the entire chart as a whole the way I do with birth charts, I look at each part of the progressed chart separately, in terms of the birth chart. So, for example, I look at the inner self-expression feeling changes that occurred when progressed (inner world) Sun (self-expression) moved from my 1rst house (being) to my 2nd house (physical). I notice I became less focused on how I express myself (1rst house) and more on the benefits and values (2nd house) I got from my self-expression. I look at this Sun energy as something separate in itself...not as part of the birth chart.

Keeping things separate,

Tim

Tim,

Can you give me some insight as to what might happen as my Sun conjuncts my [natal] MC in three years? In my progressed chart my Sun and Mercury are conjunct at 10 Aquarius. My natal MC is at 13 Aqua.

Thanks,
AG

With the progressed chart does nobody feel any different when the progressed Moon is in different signs, I have noticed the change, and that my life also seems to focus on the house the progressed Moon is in, when my progressed Moon went into Aquarius I had broken up with my boyfriend and was single for over 2 yrs so I did notice the change by becoming independent and I was hardly home due to a new job - my progressed Moon moved into the 6th house/Aquarius.

But you do need to look at your whole chart when looking at a progressed chart, and transits are the major indicators for the outer events in your life which are going to be more noticeable. I might start a thread about the progressed Moon and put all the information I have on there from Carol Rushman's Predictive Astrology, not sure if has already been covered on here, but I personally have found it useful, so for people who want to use progressed charts it will be helpful.

AG,

When progressed (inner world) Sun (self-expression, ego) and Mercury (thinking, also writing, talking/daily work) conjuncts (energy is combined with) the Midheaven (outer world), we feel the urge to express our ideas and thoughts to the outer world. Since Sun is connected with the ego, there is a sense that our ideas are too important to keep them to ourselves and MUST be shared as widely as possible. With Aquarius (friends, also Internet), making friends on the Internet broadly and widely could be part of this outward self-expression.

On the net,

Tim

Tim, I've always loved the way you write and put things...so simple and in a way everyone can understand. Must be my Virgo sun & mercury (You're a triple Virgo if I remember correctly, right?)

Explaining (astrology),

P.S. Love them blue eyes!
