I have noticed a lot of taurus girls are really silent in class. Now I am not saying that holds true for all taurus girls, but it is kind of uncanny how many of them will not talk for almost a whole entire semester(s) IN MY EXPERIENCE. On the rare occasion they do, when asked by a teacher, they have said some very intelligent things or practical. But they never talk, just silent. An intense focus, almost never a smile. I wonder why they don't offer up their view point, they almost seem to feel as if it doesn't belong in a classroom, but to just do the papers and exams and be graded on that.

What kind of signs have you noticed as the silent types in class? More detail the better! All I know is the sun signs for some people cause I never think of an appropriate time to ask for time of birth.

I've found in some cases with Taurus not speaking up in class is they just don't find it important. Or they just don't feel like it or they don't like the class. My Sag bf's friend is a Taurus, and they actually nicknamed him Silent Mike because he rarely talked, but when he did, it was so blazingly intelligent hahaha.

I had a Gemini friend in a class who refused to speak in class for fear of being judged or sounding stupid and she'd often try to get me to speak for her. I had a Leo behind me in another class with the same problem, and I haven't looked to see if they have similar things in their charts, but I wouldn't doubt it. I found it odd that Leo didn't want to speak up though!

On the other hand, I notice that Cancers and Aries will try to answer every question. I just kind of sit back and watch and laugh at the classroom dynamics myself.

Hello Carlfloydfan.

I am a Pisces sun and I'm fairly quiet in class because my brain is always elsewhere. However, I always seem to know the information? I don't see a reason to talk just to talk in class ( i believe it is a time for everything) Cappy rising or virgo moon maybe.
However , whem i'm asked a question I can get real deep, and talk for what seems like forever, even if it is something I really don't know. (Venus conjunct Mercury)2nd house! I also seem to go into great detail thanks to my VIRGO moon! The words just seem to flow harmoniously.
I however love group discussions I love giving my viewpoints (mars in Saggi, and Sun conjunct Jupiter 1st house)

I also like answering first, or in oral communication class presenting first. I like to set the stage. Eventhough my Pisces and Virgo are yelling "youre shy"

Capricorn Rising
Moon Virgo 8th house
Sun Pisces 1st house
Venus Pisces 2nd house
Mercury Pisces 2nd house
Jupiter Pisces 1st house
Mars Sagittarius 11th house
Uranus Sagittarius 11th house
Saturn Sagittarius 10th house
Pluto conjunct mc Scorpio

I'm a Taurus and I was always quiet in class. In fact I preferred to sit at the back and not get the teacher's attention at all. I would know all the answers but (a) I didn't find it important to speak up, (b) I didn't want to be the person who knew everything, and (c) I was very shy and I didn't want everyone's attention on me.

I think my Scorpio moon makes me even more private, and Mercury in Taurus probably had something to do with it.

But yet at home, my Sag rising would take over and I would just keep talking and talking. It wasn't until I was in my 20's and went to teacher's college that I got over my shyness. I'd still hardly describe myself as an extrovert, although I do somewhat enjoy attention these days, but I did win the battle against extreme shyness! My bf wants to me to sing at karaoke, but now we're back to the same issues - (a) it's not important to me that I do it, and (b) I don't want excess attention on me.

--exactly like me (in bold). haha. I seem to go from silence in one class to five very good points the next class and back again.

I've found in some cases with Taurus not speaking up in class is they just don't find it important.

exactly what my taurus gf feels. plus she is kind of shy. She is from France where participation is not as valued or graded nearly as much, so it is also enviroment. I want her to come to a few classes with me while she is visiting me (since I want to spend as much time with her and not skip class). she said "fine as long as I do not have to talk" (she would get embarresed she said) - haha

To me, taurus is so much like scorpio in this respect. overall I am finding they are so much more alike than opposite, the ones I know are private, quiet, deep, intense, but that is my experience.

hmm..I don't like being in spaces with many people either. it is not a phobia or anything close, but I prefer to avoid it if I can. Classes, sometimes I feel anxious and don't like the vibes.

My aries moon is in the 3rd house though

I'm the silent type in class....I rarely ever answer questions or say anything. I was even the same way in highschool. I always sit away from the front of the class, and that's why I hate being late to class. Becuase not only do I have to walk in front of all those people but I usually end up in the front. I know its bad, but I'm timid and have major anxiety problems not restricted to the classroom. Not only that, I'm kind of introverted anyways. It could be my virgo moon, Cap Asc, or my 12th house stellium that has my chart ruler in it. Although I think my cancer sun could a culprit to because I knew 3 other cancer girls like that in highschool.

Hey teaologist, I have that "delayed response" thing too sometimes! When I was doing my MA thesis, it caused me so much anxiety having meetings with my supervisor because he would throw questions at me that I needed time to think about... I actually told him that I need time to process things... but he said I need to have a quick response. I'm almost certain he was a Gemini. I've recently met him again and we get along great, I was just uncomfortable with the rapid-speed questioning when it came to my work. He met my Gemini bf and they really hit it off! lol.

I'm not sure how we can speed up those processes considering we have sun and mercury in Taurus. I've always expressed myself better in writing, in fact I think a lot more quickly when I'm writing. I just get put in a spot sometimes when it comes to a verbal response. It only happens when I'm required to give a spontaneous response to something that requires a lot of detailed thought. My thoughts can actually be very quick, but the verbal expression of those thoughts sometimes frustrates me.

If anyone can help me and teaologist with this, I'd be interested in any advice!

gosh why speed up things? In japan you would do fine! maybe relocate, haha. In japan, silence is valued. they take time to think things through. They may be silent for a while, which makes the western world uneasy, but they want to say the right thing, that is all. Sometimes we Americans are chatter boxes, to much, to fill an unspoken void, but is what we say to fill that void really worth it? lets values patience and silence more! what sign is japan as a country? Maybe a taurus?

Oh but I'm very talkative though! I would just love not to have to consider for so long how I'm going verbalise say, an abstract concept, or a response to a political situation. Maybe it's just a case of using my brain more to speed up its response time.

It's intersting you brought this up.
I have Taurus in Sun Mercury Jupiter and Juno.

I hate to talk in class. Sometimes I have the answer, but a lot of times I don't...because, well, I call myself "slow." Which makes me feel stupid sometimes...But. I do fairly wel on essays, and tests, not so much verbally expressing my viewpoints in class. I agree with the rest of the taureans here. If I don't prepare what I say, I blurt out something that's incoherent, or it becomes a supremely delayed response.
I also don't have much to say. And don't find the importance in saying something that's obvious or too wordy...It BOREDS me.

BTW, I have Sun, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter all in 12th.
Moon in SCORPIO Conjunct Pluto...in the 6th...So.

I was always "silent" in class. If i got called on i could answer the question but i dont like talking in front of crowds, crowds mean more than 5 people. Even now when i go to conferences people close to me always remark how i never have anything to say but i always seem to talk with my coworkers.

Hi!

I'm not Taurus (a Gemini here), but I have Venus in Taurus, and if I could, I would probably never ever speak ..
I always feel that, whatever I say, it could either hurt someone, or I could end up hurting myself.
That is because I feel the words say so little about what's really going inside us, and the constant presence of the "knowledge" of that "fact" inside me, often distracts me, making me say things, that either have nothing to do with the situation, or making me silent when I should have said something.
It's the concentration of so many things inside, that just can't "get out" in a proper way, and that makes me want to keep myself silent most of the time.

Lol, as for the school (which was the subject here, that, I seem I have missed lol),I was always insecure, and thought that whatever I said, it would sound stupid.
Luckily, it wasn't like that most of the time (I would be shaking till the moment I had to speak up, but then, the words would just start to come out..)

Hi GeminiLover75!

My Mercury is in Cancer in the 8th, trines Jupiter in the 4th, and sextiles Venus in the 6th.
It also sextiles my MC..
No squares or oppositions..must be that 8th house then..

Love xxx

edit - maybe it's also because it widely (6-7 degrees) conjuncts my Saturn in the 8th ..

Weird...I'm a taurus and this sounds EXACTLY like me. Except usually in my case, it depends on the class. In English I'm usually pretty talkative cause I love to read and write, and I do really well in that class. My other classes I'm usually pretty silent.

I've noticed this trait mostly with mercury in taurus (which I also have). The thing with us, is that before we talk, we usually have to think carefully about what we're going to say. It's not that we don't want to participate, we just need a little bit of time. We like to wait for the chance, and when the opportunity comes along, we'll say something insightful and intelligent.

But never catch us off guard...and don't call on us when we're not raising our hand. I don't know about other people...but I can't stand that! That's my biggest pet peeve. Because we will talk....when we're ready. We just need time to think and learn the information being taught (at least I do...I don't know if this applies to every mercury in taurus).

There were two Taurus girls in my class, one would be completely quiet and just sit attentively and the other would occasionally shout out answers and laugh at the other students if one of them make a joke or opinion. She also put on her makeup in class, Everyday. Maybe she had an Aries or Libra rising. I'm always looking for that moment to do a quick touch up in class. I guess it really depends on the ascendant of the person. Tauruses usually keep to themselves though.

I have a Taurus Mercury in the 12th. I'm conservative with my words. I talk when I find I need to talk and not one for rambling on and on. Though the things I do and say must be put to practical application.

If I read, then it's to learn. I could never get into recreational reading. When I sing, it's to relief stress and anxiety.

I have 4 planets in earth so there is a bunch of practical conservative focus - but my Aries Sun likes to get out there and have FUN!

oh! I have noticed this with all of the Taurus girls I know. They are VERY quiet. One doesn't care about saying anything, the others appear too nervous. Also, Virgo girls seem to be somewhat reserved.

I talk a good bit, but not enough to be annoying.

Speaking from family experience...

My Taurus mother doesn't talk much...one of the reasons I felt neglected by her as a child...yes boohoo.

My Gemini sister has Mercury in Taurus and you cant get this girl to shut-up. She also has a Virgo ascendant so all the mercurial influence probably overpowers that taurus placement.

I have a strong Mercury influence (Gemini ascendant, with Mercury in Aqua conj MC) but I was very quiet in high school and university. Maybe Pisces moon or probably some harsh transits might have been an influence because in elementary school I was a show off in the class.

I used to be much more shy than I am now. I used to dread the first day of class, when you're asked to introduce yourself to the class. My stomach would clench up and my face would turn red. When a class called for a presentation project, I'd refuse to do it. A few times, my A turned into C for this reason.

When I worked at WalMart, I was forced to interact with masses of customers. I am very thankful for the experience, because it has brought me more confidence. Now I make an effort to be more active in class, and aske questions. I now sit in the front row in my Math class and contribute to workplace meetings.

I'm still on the shy side, until I feel comfortable. Then, my Archer side kicks in and its hard to get me to shut up. I think my Neptunian influences and RX Mercury cloud up my Sag energy at times.
