You're a Pisces? I love Pisces! I forgot to mention I'm a late Aquarius Moon though...It's on a critical degree and almost would have been VOC had it not been for my Venus to be hanging around it. So I almost would have been a Pisces Moon if I had been born one or two later! I also have a very sweet cousin who happens to be a Pisces as well. IP: Logged |

There are, in fact, some probable errors in the information provided by this website: http://www.librarising.com/astrology/risingsigns/ristable.html It says that Meryl Streep has Cancer Asc, whereas according to her birth details at IMDb.com and the calculations at Astro.com, her rising sign is Leo, and her Leo Pluto (exalted) is in her 1st house (but not conjunct her Asc). The website also says that Angelina Jolie has Sagittarius rising, while her natal info at IMDb.com and the subsequent calculations at Astro.com indicate that her rising sign is Cancer, with her Venus (in Cancer) conjunct her Asc. As for the possible typos, such as Julia Roberts's Scorpio Sun being mistaken as "Sun in Cancer", and Mariah Carey's Aries Sun being mistaken as "Sun in Cancer", while they are simply both categorized by the site under "More Cancer Rising Celebrities"- I think those are relatively minor ones. The main thing here is that there may be errors on the site, information wise. So, I'm not sure if all the people categorized under "More Libra Rising Celebrities" are actually all real Libra risings. Albeit the website is helpful in a way and fun to explore, these errors cannot be neglected. IP: Logged |

This is rather off the main topic here, but I believe there are celebrities who deliberately issue the wrong birth data e.g. the wrong time of birth, or sometimes even the wrong birthdate, to the public. This is understandable, as these famous people might be involved in the studies of astrology themselves, and they don't want others to "pry" into their private, intimate details. You can't really blame them for doing so. A good example is Jodie Foster- the above website includes her in the Sagittarius rising section, and a Sag Asc would also be the result if you keyed in her IMDb.com natal info at Astro.com. And the houses and aspects just all look plain wrong. They feel wrong. As many of us know, Jodie is a very private person, and there's a high likelihood that she's given the wrong time of birth to the public. Same with Winona Ryder (another Sun Scorpio)- I don't think either of them is Sagittarius rising, and as a matter of fact, I'd guess Jodie has Gemini ascendant. However, initially, I only intended to post the following today- still the input found in the same book: Page 67 Libra Overlay Libra on the First House Cusp The natives project their individuality through cooperation with other people; their personalities must be focused on and mirrored in those with whom they cooperate. Their actions express beauty and grace, along with discipline, sternness, and a strong sense of justice. Their strongest virtue is their ability to see any matter from the viewpoint of the people with whom they are dealing. The natives do not like to be alone; they feel lost when they are forced to rely entirely on themselves. Scorpio on the Second House Cusp These people are resourceful and energetic in their means of making money. They have the ability to transform worthless materials into something of real value. They spend the money earned from their inventiveness and ingenuity at a rapid rate. Nevertheless, they are more concerned that their possesssions have aesthetic than monetary value. Their partners often provide teh money for elegant objects to satisfy the natives's taste. However, they are ready to share these possessions with their partners, as well as their friends. Sagittarius on the Third House Cusp The natives are philosophic and visionary in the expression of their thoughts and ideas. They are concerned with religion and social values and esteem ideas in terms of their usefulness in the larger social order. They are generous toward brothers, sisters, and neighbors, even though they may be separated from them. Many times their short trips, whether mental or physical, take them to places they have not previously visited. They frequently receive messages from and communicate with people in faraway places. Capricorn on the Fourth House Cusp Since they want everything in its proper place, the natives are great disciplinarians and household organizers. Yet nothing is ever systematized to their satisfaction. Much work and responsibility are concentrated in the home. Although their families tend to be conservative and austere, it is important to them that their homes be recognized as contributing to the life of the community. Aquarius on the Fifth House Cusp The natives like exciting and singular loves. A great source of pleasure comes from the study of unique things, friends, and group activities. Their children are a peculiar mixture of originality and mental discipline, but their children's bodies are not always as strong as the will that is expressed through them. In art and the theater, structure is especially important to the natives, and they enjoy pieces that are both unusual and dramatic. Pisces on the Sixth House Cusp In matters of work and service, circumstances require unselfish devotion from the natives. They are sympathetic to co-workers and employees. Sometimes, however, they assume more work than they can effectively handle, thereby creating confusion and problems. They may become hypochondriacs if they are looking for an escape from their professional responsibilities. Their health is contingent upon their emotional state of being. Aries on the Seventh House Cusp The natives can be aggressive in order to gain teh cooperation and attention of others. They also have the power to motivate other people into action without their being aware of it. The partners of any of these natives must understand that if they want peace they must maintain a high activity level and work hard. Taurus on the Eighth House Cusp The natives will cooperate to help their partners earn money, but their love of beauty makes them prone to spend it on adornment. They also have the power to generate wealth from sources that are unknown to others. These persons usually die tranquilly, and begin and end things peacefully in general. Gemini on the Ninth House Cusp The natives demand that religion and philosophy be practical in application and logically comprehensible. Many of these natives like to write about and discuss these matters. There are numerous comings and goings in relation to religious activities. Cancer on the Tenth House Cusp These people are acutely sensitive to their reputations and standing in the world. It is important to them to be considered responsible and respectable. In many ways there is a close tie between professional activity and the home life. These natives often have partners in their profession or business. Leo on The Eleventh House Cusp An external source of strength and security must be established. Therefore, these natives cultivate friendships with influential people of genius and creativity, since their own creative self-expression is often linked with these friends. Virgo on the Twelfth House Cusp These natives tend to bring about their own downfall by excessive worry and nagging about trivial points. Their hidden support, however, is their ability to devote meticulous attention to secondary details that others may well overlook. The substratum of their endeavors is well planned and organized.

And I'll be typing the additional info for those Libra risings whose houses may not be displayed as above- such as either Pisces or Taurus as the descendant, or either Gemini or Leo as the Midheaven. For clarity, I have and will replace the original words for the people here ("Libras", "Virgos", or "Scorpios") with the terms "the natives".IP: Logged |

Page 65Second Version of the Libra Rising Overlay (Title modified) Libra on the First House Cusp The natives project their individuality through cooperation with other people; their personalities must be focused on and mirrored in those with whom they cooperate. Libra on the Second House Cusp The natives tend to become involved in ventures with a partner, often the wife or husband. They have the ability to attract the money necessary to provide the beautiful and good things of life. The pattern of acquiring these things is irregular, however, since they alternate between frugality and extravagance. Scorpio on the Third House Cusp The natives are energetic, extremely resourceful, and creative in their thought processes. Succinctness and frankness characterize their speech and communication. Words well said function as a balm for them and are beautiful music to their ears. Sagittarius on the Fourth House Cusp Spacious and comfortable homes are important to the natives. They like to provide a place for everything and see to it that everything is in its place. While visitors are generously treated, the natives are especially generous with their own families. Their families, indeed, usually get along better than most. Capricorn on the Fifth House Cusp The natives are rather prudish concerning sex and romance. Although they appear to be cold, they are highly sexed. They frequently realize their ambitions through the one they love, or the children of their body and mind. They are extremely cautious in the realm of speculation and do not enter into "wildcat" schemes. They seek pleasures that are serious and contemplative and have the ability to enjoy hard work. Aquarius on the Sixth House Cusp These people are creative and original in their work. They treat co-workers as friends and enjoy group porjects. However, they lose interest in a project if all the group members are not willing to see it through to its completion. They are generally methodical in their professions, employing original techniques, and humanitarian in their service. Pisces on the Seventh House Cusp Partners are often the avenue by which the natives expand into new fields; these partners enhance the natives' human understanding and emotional involvement. The natives attract people who are not nearly so well organized as they. Aries on the Eighth House Cusp The natives are subject to accidents and fevers which can change their whole lives if they are not careful. Legacies often are involved in extended litigation. Disagreements arise in matters relating to joint finances. Since their opportunity for regeneration is through decisive action, their pattern is to initiate projects, as well as to complete those other people have begun. Taurus on the Ninth House Cusp The philosophy of the natives is based on the beautiful and the practical. They take a down-to-earth view of social concepts and religion and are not likely to change their views easily on these subjects. They insist on the just handling of finances and relationships. Gemini on the Tenth House Cusp The natives engage in professions that allow them to utilize both mind and hands to implement their original ideas, and these ideas bring them fame and recognition. They often become involved in more than one professional activity. Many of them work in the field of communications. This fulfills the natives' desire to be remembered for their genius. Cancer on the Eleventh House Cusp The natives treat their friends as family members. They develop unusually strong emotional attachments to friends, as well as to the groups and organizations to which they belong. Their friends are invited into their homes, which become places of group activity. Leo on the Twelfth House Cusp The natives possess astonishing strength that is not apparent until they are tested. This depth of willpower is their unconscious support. Their self-undoing may come from pride and hidden egotism. IP: Logged |

Their strongest virtue is their ability to see any matter from the viewpoint of the people with whom they are dealing. The natives do not like to be alone; they feel lost when they are forced to rely entirely on themselves. Sagittarius on the Second House Cusp Generally, the natives have good luck in financial matters and know how to make money multiply. They expand their activities through money, and there are usually adequate financial resources to further their ends. They often provide financial support for religious and educational institutions. Sometimes they are economic theorists. Capricorn on the Third House Cusp The natives are careful in the expression of their thoughts. They never say or write anything unless there is a definite reason for doing so, which is why they have a reputation for secrecy. Since their words are carefullly calculated for maximum impact, they can be harsh and exacting in their speech. This is where (modified use of vocabulary; originally as "the Scorpio sting") these natives' stings appear. Aquarius on the Fourth House Cusp The home environment is unusual and distinctive. As a rule, there is something out of the ordinary about these natives' homes, families, or both. Rather than going to visit their friends, they like to have their friends come to them. Pisces on the Fifth House Cusp The natives are surprisingly sentimental in affairs of the heart; they serve their loved ones without thought of self. Their children and those they love are often a source of disillusionment to them. These natives gain pleasure from seclusion and from the study of mysticism. Aries on the Sixth House Cusp The natives are efficient, powerful, and original in tackling tasks that would seem impossible to others. Since they get more accomplished efficiently than do those born [with any other sign on the sixth house cusp], these natives appear to be self-propelled in all that they do. Being natural leaders, they have a tendency to be somewhat bossy to subordinates and co-worders. They extend a helping hand when others are in trouble, but they expect the aided individual to absorb the strength and self-sufficientcy needed to continue on alone. Taurus on the Seventh House Cusp The natives attract marriage partners who have wealth to offer. They are cooperative in partnerships but expect some practical gain as a result. They spend money on lovely things that have quality. They also spend money on their partners and take great pride in the fact that they look well. Gemini on the Eighth House Cusp The natives are pregnant with ideas concerning joint finances. They are often occupied with thoughts and communications concerning death and the affairs of the dead. They are intellectually interested in mystery. Cancer on the Ninth House Cusp These persons are emotional and tenacious in the areas of religion and philosophy. They have foresight by means of psychic perception, yet they cling to family religion. As a rule, they prefer to travel by water. Leo on the Tenth House Cusp The natives are ambitious in their professions and proud of their standing in the community. They often achieve positions of leadership and authority and are admired for their accomplishments. Virgo on the Eleventh House Cusp The natives exert themselves for their friends, especially those who need help. They cultivate friends through their work and utilize the practical ideas and skills of their associates. Libra on of Twelfth House Cusp The natives who enjoy the seclusion of places of beauty are more refined and gentle than they would have one believe. Their hidden strength is their innate sense of justice and fair play, but their self-undoing may come from their unconscious desire for luxury.

There are numerous factors influencing an individual's appearance astrologically. Such factors also determine how the person's ascendant influence his or her look, and how big a role his or her rising sign plays in his or her appearance, mannerism, aura, day-to-day habits, and so forth. From the same book Page 83 The First House (Sign: Aries; co-rulers: Mars and Pluto; Sun exalted) The First House is called the Ascendant. Its key phrase is "I am." The sign of the Zodiac on its cusp is called the rising sign. It is the most important house cusp and the most sensitive in the horoscope. It represents the individual's basic point of reference toward life: self-awareness, how his experiences are assimilated, and how he responds to outside stimuli. Any planet placed in the First House, especially if it conjuncts the Ascendant, becomes highly descriptive of the individual's basic character and the quality of his consciousness. Several other influences affect the qualities of the First House: the psychological traits associated with the sign on the First House cusp; the ruler of that sign; any planet that makes a major aspect to the First House cusp; and the dispositor of the ruler of the Ascendant sign. The First House and these ruling factors indicate the native's physical appearance and personal mannerisms. (The sign and house of the Sun and Moon are also indicators of the native's basic physical type.)The physical qualities are the manifestation of his sustaining life-force, or selfhood, and indicate the degree of his health and vitality as well as the influences affecting them. The First House also indicates the native's early environment and conditioning by its general affinity to Aries, the sign of new beginnings. The Sun, which is exalted in Aries and represents the creative will and the life-giving principle, also has a strong relationship to the Ascendant and the First House. Thus someone who has the Sun conjunct the Ascendant in the First House or otherwise strongly aspecting the Ascendant is likely to be a self-aware and powerful individual with a strong will and positive direction in life. Mars and Pluto, the ruling planets of the sign Aries, also have a strong affinity with the First House and the Ascendant. Mars is the planet of physical action based on desire, whereas Pluto is the planet of mental manipulation of energy based on will, or the determination to overcome or become. These two planets of outer and inner action exert greater forces when they are in some way related to the Ascendant or First House. -------------------------- Whenever interpreting a chart, it might be best to bear in mind that one may be looking at "the wrong chart"- provided the person being interpreted has given the inaccurate time of birth and is unaware of this fact- he or she may not even know that his or her time of birth is incorrect. Whenever the accurate time of birth is unavailable, consequently, the chart would be the wrong one. With the above quoted description of the First House from the book, clearly, not all people of the same rising sign would bear similar characteristics. This means that not necessarily all Libra risings are attractive, graceful, or popular. I'm not saying that the majority of people with Libra Asc are not appealing individuals. However, I'd be really interested in learning more about real Libra rising persons (celebrities or otherwise) and see how their Libra ascendant manifests through each of them. That's enough for the day now, though. IP: Logged |

Pisces/Virgo is intercepted in my chart and I have Capricorn ruling my 4th and 5th houses. I don't know how much I agree with that Capricorn on the 5th house cusp interp... but maybe mine is diluted/overpowered, because I have the Sun & Mars conjunct in the 5th opposing Jupiter - which is like the OPPOSITE of everything Cap on the 5th house cusp is supposed to be. Leo on the 12th house cusp sounds eerily accurate. And I do have a problem with being prideful... sometims I wish I could shake it off, but when my pride is hurt or I feel stripped of my dignity, it's VERY hard for me to get over. But I think this is enhanced because of my Sun being in the 5th and thus... being very Leo like. Thanks D for Defiant! Those are awesome... what book is that again? IP: Logged |

I do wonder if one of the karmic lessons for Libra risings is to learn how to achieve balance, moderation and harmony in life, in this incarnation. We tend to envision the sign Libra as balance, and as the state of being balanced. Peace-loving, pacifism, denouncing violence, charming aura/persona, delight, beauty, grace and harmony... Those are truly flattering traits we hear about this rising sign (or as the Sun sign in its symbolic concepts). However, I have been wondering, maybe all these indicate that it's going to be a hard-learned lesson for Libras (either solar ones or rising ones) to achieve those. Although traditionally, the more popular notion about Libra is that its ruler is Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, and we tend to associate the sign Libra with what Venus represents, however, the planet which is in its exaltation in Libra is Saturn- the planet governing, among other things, karma, wisdom, order, respect for the social tradition and structure...and also conscientiousness, psychic stamina, and hard work. I do ask myself if having Libra ascendant does not necessarily guarantee physical beauty, diplomatic verbal expressions and social grace- but rather, the individual with this placement might instead have to manage to realize how to gain his or her own balance. And when a Libra rising has his or her balance, everything begins to make sense. But when a Libra Asc has not found his or her balance, or has lost it, he or she becomes out-of-proportion and strangers who meet this Libra rising person will no longer see a pleasant and attractive individual, but rather, a very confused, unhappy, annoying and physically ill (or otherwise simply ill) man or woman. Maybe he or she still gives people that impression of a somehow friendly smile, approachability and a courteous manner at the first encounter, but this first impression will not last long. Not long enough, because the individual concerned here has lost his or her balance. It is interesting to see so many of us associating Libra with its ruler, Venus, but rarely mentioning the sign along with its exaltation planet Saturn- the planet of karma, wisdom and psychic labor and growth. Perhaps, as Linda had discussed long time ago in Love Signs- to learn that love is harmony (along with love, as well as life) is the lesson for all Librans...to learn how to achieve balance, moderation and harmony. It takes a lifetime. ------------------ "Money is temporary, happiness is forever." Some solar Piscean guy, Aotearoa, winter 2002 IP: Logged |

I've found the method of weighing pros and cons quite effective for me. There are times when I need to examine a situation and make a big decision.
