Has anyone had experience with Mars in the 4th house indicating domestic violence? Would it mean the person with this placement might have been abused, or that they themselves will be abusive?IP: Logged |

i think it depends on the person.my brother and sister both have this..it indicates a bad father (in my opinion), and I have noticed that my bro and sis are the only ones at home who yell a lot and anger easily, they've got quite a temper. Gemini Sun/Virgo Moon/Libra ASC Brother: capricorn mars in 4th Aquarius Sun/Taurus Moon/Sag ASC Sister: pisces mars in 4th. one thing i didn't mention. they are passive aggressive. outside, they let people walk over them. they don't solve their problems, like telling someone to stop bothering them, that's a real simple example. anyhow, i tell them if something bothers them they have got to make it stop...one other thing, they don't listen to my advice. Lol I don't know if that has anything to do with mars in 4th, but they're very much alike in those ways...and i believe that's their only common placement. Certainly 4th house activity can pertain to domestic set up in childhood. Bad father i would say is more dictated by a heavy retrograde Saturn placement, perhaps conjunct the Ascendent. Although an angry volatile father could i s'pose be depicted in Mars in 4th. Probably dependent on sign ruling the 4th also.------------------ 4th December 1974 18:00GMT Southampton U.K IP: Logged |

This topic just jumped out at me!I have retrograde Mars in Scorpio in the 4th house. It is conjunct my retrograde Saturn in Scorpio, also in th 4th! (heavy going, huh?!) The relationship I had with my son's father was abusive. He was the violent partner - I only ever retaliated once and ended up with a broken nose for my troubles. He is generally a very aggressive man but is currently getting help with his troubles, which is a good thing - I want him to eventually have a very good relationship with his son. The bad father thing also holds true at my end. He was an violently abusive alcoholic until recently (he has been sober since July!) and regularly beat me during my childhood. His Mars is also square my Sun I believe. That said, since moving away years ago, our relationship is now improving. I myself, can be an angry person at times, but rarely violent. I think, due to the fact that my mars is retrograde, the anger is turned inwardly and I have good self control - i don't often lose my temper, although it is quite a temper when it goes! (picture a typical bull explosion!!!) What tauren_scorpian said about passive-aggressive behavior, sounded familiar. I'm not exactly a "walkover" with other people, as it were, but I do intensely dislike confrontation and tend to keep people at arms length. It is definitely true that most of the violence in my life has happened in my domestic setups. Interesting! It's all good these days! I am now in a happy, non-violent relationship and have been for over 4 years. Which is great, when you consider I have a singleton Uranus in the 5th house, squaring his Venus! I think I'm doing quite well with that bad reputation!!! Damn Mars doesn't even come into it anymore! Any more with Mars in the 4th? --------------------------------------------- Taurus sun/Aquarius moon/Leo rising IP: Logged |

I have Mars in the 4th. I always related it to trouble in my early life, ie my parents divorced and my father left. I became a very bad tempered child after that.IP: Logged |

No wonder I'm always paranoid about fires... I always make sure I've got a smoke alarm! IP: Logged |

Amazing! I assumed this would make them energetic in their house, lots of activities. Or they keep weapons at home IP: Logged |

I have Mars in the 4th myself, but my father wasn't a bad father at all. However he did have a very bad temper with me.What I've noticed is that the only time I get mad or show my temper is when I'm at home. I also tend to be passive. IP: Logged |

I have Mars in the 4th in Libra. My Dad was an abusive alcoholic, though not to me directly - my mom and brother bore the brunt of it.I had troubles with abusive relationships when I first started dating. (Though now if a guy laid a hand on me like that he'd lose an appendage. LOL) I also didn't have a handle on my own temper and was inclined to throw things and slam doors, etc. I always attributed the temper thing more to all the Scorpio influence in my chart, especially cause Mars is in Libra - it's interesting to consider that perhaps it's a Mars in the 4th thing... I don't think I've ever been passive aggressive - passivity isn't really part of my personality at all. While I don't seek out confrontation, I won't shy from it either. If anything I've been accused of being blunt and too direct. quote: Bad father i would say is more dictated by a heavy retrograde Saturn placement
I'm not sure what constitutes a "heavy" retro Saturn placement, but mine is retro in Taurus in the 11th.Interesting stuff to consider...

Mars in the 4th can also show fires in the home. That's amazing - I had a fire at my previous residence.
Off topic: I forgot to mention, that on top of having retrograde Mars and Saturn in my 4th house, I also have retrograde Pluto shoved in there as well. Lucky me!!! IP: Logged |
