Does anyone think that there may be some correlation between Leo or 5th House placements and SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)?

I've got a Leo ascendant, Jupiter in Leo (conjunct), and 3 planets in the 5th house. I've dealt with this disorder since I was about 19 years old. Some years it's worse than others, and this year seems to be especially bad. We've had two weeks of steady gloom now. The weather went back to cold and the sky is gray, gray, gray. When it rains that damp cold just chills me to the bone. I'm getting even more depressed than usual!!! LOL...When I was in my car about an hour ago I had the heat cranked up as high as it would go and I was still chilled. Then it started to rain. I swear, my eyes filled up with tears. I just want to see the sun!!! I love the sun...I can stand cold, but when it is continually gray for long periods I just lose it.

I know that generally NO ONE likes crappy weather, but do you think it might be worse for Leo people?

CC... Don't get depressed... PLLLEEEAASSSEEEEE.... I hate to hear that your sad... It just kills me.. I was actually just thinking about you a second ago and then came upon this post...Odd isn't it? Telepathy maybe? lol I know it's hard when everything seems to be out of sorts... the gloominess outside doesn't help either... but you gotta try and maintain a positive frame of mind... God has better days in store for you... I don't think it has much to do with planet placement as much as it's a state of mind... Sometimes our own negative thoughts play out on our emotions... What have you been doing to relax? Most of your post your taking about running from work, home, this and that... when was the last time you honestly did something that you absolutely love? Sometimes when our lives are so involved in our responsibilities and such we get booged down and forget to just have fun for fun's sake... Just a though, I could be wrong... Hit me on email if you'd like to mull over some things... I'm always here with an open ear... Love from New York City... SL

I have jupiter in Leo 5th, I love the weather changes, I love winter 'cos I love fires, I really love summer, 'cos I love my sarongs....hmmm...I'm not much help, jupiter is my only 5th house placement, it's square Neptune, opposite my Moon & square my sun, so it's part of the lovely grand cross which adorns my chart...yay, go me!

I hope your mood improves, don't sweat the stuff you cannot change...Be well.

i have two 5th house placements, venus and mercury. and i have very bad SAD that has progressed the older i get. this year it was especially bad, too. the winter was extra brutal and i had extra bad things happen to me that really set off the switch. and now that we have cold weather again here too i just feel like i'm slipping back into it.

SAD sucks. i'm really sensitive to my envirornment and the world around me. i can always tell everyone has seasonal problems. blech. can't wait til summer!

Depending on whether you use Placidus or Equal Houses, I have either 3 or 5 planets in the 5th, and I don't have SAD. Actually, I'm usually happy when winter here arrives because it's a respite from the 6 month summer of 90+ degree weather. I spend the summer hiding out in the air conditioning pretty much.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have 2 placements in Leo, and you don't understand.....I have a passion for the summer sun and thunderstorms. I get depressed if the cold weather is around for too long. There were a couple of days where it was in the 70s in NY, and I celebrated by wearing my nicest summer clothes. Sux now b/c its cold, windy and rainy. I want summer!!! I luuuuuuuuuuv the sun, just the warmth on my skin w/o having to wear a jacket. But also, I need just the right amount of ventilation or I'll start shivering or sweating.

Virgo sun talking...

Uranus, Neptune, Mars, Vertex, SouthNode in 5th house. And I also have a Leo Ascedant. I can relate to how you feel CrankyCap. Sun is much more important for us, Leo influenced people. I feel so alone at times when it is cold and rainy outside even though there are people around me. Conversely, when the Sun appears in the sky, I feel super-joyful, and can get hopeful about every problem I have at that time.

ALkyoto, mars, & SLAYER - I totally feel you guys. Normally by April 1st my mood improves DRAMATICALLY. That's why it's always been my favorite day of the year...but not this year! I love seeing the sun come out, the grass starting to grow, and the flowering trees lining the streets. We had some nice weather at the end of March, but then Old Man Winter struck again...and all the flowers are DEAD!!! It's so sad. I get depressed just looking at them!

I am not meant to be in a seasonal climate. Like I said, it isn't so much about the temperature for me, it's the lack of light. I could handle the snows in Colorado because they get so much SUN. There's nothing better than feeling the warmth of that sun on my cheeks. It is soooo invigorating! The brightness and light of the sun just whisks my troubles away. Someone said it's much easier to brush off problems and be optimistic on a sunny day...that is SO true!

If I can get my newly started career off the ground in the next year or two...I am OUTTA HERE!!! LOL...I am going wherever the "Sun" takes me!

I am so with you on this one CC!
I have Sun, Uranus, Mercury and Venus in the fifth (Libra though) and I hate the grey weather, like you said not the cold so much. If it's a cold day but the sky is clear and blue and the sunlight is there I'm fine, but constantly grey skies makes me soooo depressed
I was watching for the signs of spring this year too and when I saw my first Bumble Bee I laughed out loud to myself literally - Roll on Summer!!!

Hi CC ~

No astro observations -- but try this: 1000mg of Fish Oil caps and 1000mg of flaxseed oil caps. They help me (Leo Asc like you).....

There are inexpensive light therapies you can try, melatonin, and other vitamin/mineral/amino acid supplements that can help. Check out this book at the library:

CC--

I have Leo Ascendant as well as Sun, Merc, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune in the 5th house. I totally feel your pain here. I didn't really pay attention to my moods based on the seasons until this year and it's quite apparent that when there's no Sun I become depressed. Any day with Sun is bearable for me.. but the minute the clouds come I am a mess.

I hope you feel better and I can't wait to bask in the summer Sun.. it'll be refreshing.

Hey CC!

I feel ya! Old Man Winter will not let go 'round here!

But.. today it is supposed to be partly sunny. (vs. partly cloudy)...try to get outside for awhile... even though its cool...
I am off to the Zoo with a herd of Spring Breakers.
I am sooo looking forward to the only sunshine this week...
I know what you mean about the flowers...
I cut all my daffodils and hyacinths and made a bouquet for Easter... It was either that or watch them hang their heads
However, I do believe my tulips are going to make it.. and so will you
Peeps to the tulips and the hardy Cappys, too.

Take Care!

Interesting thread. I have a Leo MC, and my sun, Jupiter and Mercury are all in the fifth house. It's the most populated house in my chart. I get depressed by winter weather, unless I can snuggle up warm inside and I love fires and logburners. The rain depresses me most.
