I've been in two flame wars on livejournal this week. First time around, I posted some art and people got highly offended about it. I was upset that people got offended by it, since I posted it in good humor, so I didn't back down. Thus, I had a flame war. The other day, I posted in a community saying that I think the negatives of my enneagram type are hindering me and that I want to change. I was told that I'm a weak, dependent attention seeker and received no help. I then decided to leave that community and delete my post, so I was followed and attacked for half a day. What the **** is up people's ***** ? Even when I back down, people want to challenge me and tell me something is wrong with me. Mercury? ------------------

Yes, I so am. Sometimes I see topics where I feel like we overthink astrology but I don't find a reason to attack people for it. It's so much more relaxed here. I can be more myself and not walk on eggshells.*hugs everyone* ------------------

I'm a member of a few astrology communities. I spend more time with the specific sign communities though. It's interesting to see how each sign thinks, reacts and relates to things.I've been a 4w5 for quite a while. Before the convo got ugly, I decided that I would prefer to be a type 8w7 or an 8w9. Then, the more arrogant one was a type 8 and now I think I'd rather not be one.  I do want attention sometimes but when I do, it's more obvious. ------------------

I should check out the specific sign LJs. Hopefully they are a bit better than the general board. That one does have good info or interesting opinions occasionally, but a lot of it is sniping. After reading the first few posts in a particularly hateful thread - "What do you hate about other signs?" - I really appreciated LindaLand! There is a bit of generalizing here sometimes, but not near as prevelant or as vitrolic. I'm 4w3, but I would be a 4w8 if possible because I'm an optimistic gal. Auntie Mame is one of my role models, and she's a definite 8. Sorry to hear you encountered a belligerent 8... But we 4s are more glamorous and fabulous, anyways! lol IP: Logged |

It's funny because afterwards, I decided to read more about 8s and I think that their negative side is the complete antithesis of my life. I don't want to control others. I don't want to be in charge. I want everyone to work cooperatively. I'm Aquarius, I see the big picture more. And I'm a metal rooster. I can't respect anyone who would want me to lead them, or be in charge of me. Mars in Libra. :PMore I read about the different types, I think that any type would have negatives. I can only try to be a better person, where ever that leads. ------------------

I'm a 4w5 type also.I had some frustrating experiences at the Enneagram Institute board - seems like when you're dealing with tools that are about healing, there are always those hanging around who don't want to help heal but would rather cause damage instead and act out. I have come to accept my type, as it's just a "flavor" like a nationality of someone. The problem wasn't my type it was the things that happened in the past or emotionally to cause my issues and the judgments I made about life and myself as a result. I think we are wired the way we are for a reasonand I have come to see the strengths in being a 4 type and cherish it. I have found this is a rather safe board, and I like it a lot.
