Midpoints are quite well regarded by professional astrologers, especially between personal planets like sun/moon/venus/mars.

why did you delete your post?

If someone's personal planet hits an important mid-point of yours, you will instinctively realize that they can help you integrate the two energies. Not always a good thing, of course.

Well, I missed your original post, but I think midpoints are important in synastry.
Especiall the Sun - Moon-midpoint conjunct, opposite, square, semisquare or sesisquare the other ones Sun or Moon are said to be "soulmate-potential". At least it`s emotionally a very attractive thing to have. Like you could fulfil each other`s emotional needs, I guess. But I think, having the Sun-Moon-midpoint in strong aspect to the personal planets and Node of the moon is a strong aspect to have, too.
For the sexual attraction, you could look at the Venus-Mars-midpoint in one chart aspecting personal aspects in the other.

There are some other midpoints I look at, too, like for example
Sun - Venus for affection and warmth
Moon - Venus for a very soft and nurturing fondness between people
Moon - Mars for emotional passion
Sun - Mars (I`m not exactly sure what this would trigger, but I guess there would be a lot of energy and enthusiasm between people)

I`d also look at Pluto-midpoints like
Moon - Pluto or Venus - Pluto (just because I am obsessed with the passion Pluto can bring)

I guess the Venus-Neptune-midpoint could be quite dreamy

And also the midpoints of Sun, Venus, Mars and Moon with the ascendant are interesting, too.

But, I think it`s important not to forget that the more midpoints you involve, the more results you will have. If you look at all the midpoints there can be, then you will have connections with almost everyone.
But having said that, midpoints involving personal planets which are aspected by personal planets in another chart, seem to indicate very individual results, because the personal planets move so quickly, and there are three planets involved instead of only two. And even more so, I`d say the conjunction and opposition have the strongest impact.

But even then there`s not a guarantee that you two will really push each other`s buttons so that you will become deeply involved.
I have some very interesting midpoint-pictures with a certain celebrity:

My Sun-Moon-mp conjunct his Sun (widely semisquare his Venus)

His Sun-Moon-mp conjuncts my Node (and widely conjuncts my Ascendant)

His Sun-Venus-mp conjuncts my Moon

His Moon - Venus mp conjuncts my Venus and squares my Midheaven

My Sun - Mars - mp conjuncts his Midheaven (and squares his Vertex)

My Moon - Mars - mp conjuncts his Mars

His Moon - Mars - mp conjuncts my Mars (and widely conjuncts my Asc) - and sesisquares my Vertex

HIs Venus-Mars-mp squares my Sun

My Venus-Pluto - mp conjuncts his Mars and semisquares his ASC

HIs Venus-Pluto - mp conjuncts my Sun

His Moon - ASC - mp conjuncts my Sun

My Sun - ASC - mp conjuncts his Midheaven and squares his Vertex

My Mars - ASC - mp conjuncts his Sun

WEll, those are quite a lot of midpoint-pictures as you can see, but of course that doesn`t mean we will meet and fall head over heels in love. *sighs* Having said that I can`t wait to see the third installment of PotC.

But with midpoints it`s like it is always in astrology, they are showing potentials, possibilities, nothing more. However, I tend to include them in every synastry I do, because without them you may miss important details.

Does it have a meaning to have sun-moon midpoint conjunct sun-moon midpoint in synastry?

Hi - I had no response for a few days, so I didn't think anyone wanted to be bothered, so I deleted it. Thank you for asking.

I read somewhere through a link on these boards about "mixing" mipoints - his sun/her moon midpoint, her sun/his moon midpoint etc. How much of a significance do these midpoints hold?

I was checking midpoints with a couple and they have:

HER S/M midpoint - conjuncts His Moon/Her Sun Midpoint (4)
HIS S/M midpoint - conjuncts Her Sun/His Moon Midpoint (4)
HIS & HER Midpoints trine (6 is this orb to wide?)

Is this normal when mixing midpoints to connect with the individuals midpoints, plus double whammies? I tried it with the same guy but a different woman and none of the midpoints aspected.

I haven't checked much into the personal planet connections, but will and the other midpoint suggestions. I just thought it was weird that the midpoints DW each other and was wondering it is was weird or normal and what your thoughts are on the connections.

When using the midpoint calculator it gives 2 caclulations. Does the opposite calculation count? If so what is the name of the midpoint opposite (ie asc/dec).

Thanks for responding.

DT ~

I'll get back to you when I have some more time to look these over
In the meantime, I would register and post your query here: http://erosastrology.proboards26.com/
Kim Falconer specializes in Eros and other asteroids, and there are some VERY knowledgeable and advanced people there..... and (just a suggestion ) I would title your post something more specific than "Midpoints" (such as "Eros sq Psyche -- your thoughts/interps?").....

Hmm, I`m by no means an expert of midpoint-astrology, just stumbled upon it recently and got very interested.

Jupitersgirl;
usually you only compare midpoints to a single planet in another one`s chart. But why not comparing midpoints with each other?
The only reason I could think of is that there must be a lot of Sun-Moon and Sun-Moon-midpoints aspecting each o2° ther.
For example: my own Sun-Moon-midpoint is on 21,5° Capricorn; but there are many possibilities to combine two planets to get this midpoint. In my case it`s the combination of 26° Sagittarius and 17° aquarius, but there could be other like:
10° Aries + 2° Scorpio
21° Pisces + 21° Scorpio
11° Sagittarius + 11° Pisces
and many more
There would be so many possibilities, and I`m not sure, how individual those results would be.
But I would definitely take midpoints aspecting midpoints into account, if there was at least one personal planet tied into the configuration.
For example: Your sun-moon-mp conjunct his sun-moon-mp and your venus would aspect this (or any other planet for that matter).

Moon Dreamer81,
a conjunction of Sun/moon-mp to the node in the other ones chart is said to point towards fated, karmic relationships, strong soulmate-potential, I`d said. I read that in the book of Christina Rakela.

Diandra,
I`d keep the orbs on midpoints tight; Uranian astrology, who works very much with midpoints, uses an 1° orb.
I tend to use a slightly wider orb, about 2°, especially with conjunctions. I even use a wider orb than that, if there are other planets tied into the configuration. For example I have ascendant 7° sagittarius and Mars on 5° Sagittarius, and if there`s a midpoint on 4° Sagittarius, I usually feel, as if my ascendant is tied into that aspect, too, even though the 3° orb is pretty wide.
Also, Uranian astrology, only uses conjunction, opposition, square, semisquare and sesisquare with midpoints, because those challenging aspects tend to provide more energy, they kind of make things happen, whereas the sextile and trine are probably very subtle in its influence.
Carol Willis only uses conjunctions and oppositions within 1°, as far as I know.
Even though I regard other wide-orbed aspects still as meaningful, the strongest are those who are conjunctions / oppositions, which are within 1°. I guess, you will certainly notice those. For good or for bad.

The Venus-Mars conjunct 8th house-ruler seems to be a very potent aspect (depending on the orb of course), probably signifying a very strong, deep and magnetic sexual and emotional attraction.
Especially since this is a Double whammy, very delicious I`d say. I always find influences of 8th house ruler in relationships / attractions, that really crawl under your skin, really deep.
It`s that all - or - nothing kind of connection. Either you give in to the energy and enjoy the depth of feelings, which is almost painful, and very raw, or you run away from it. But whatever you do, I think it is impossible to stay indifferent.

Doubtin Tomas,
sometimes people take a little bit time to reply. So don`t give up, if you don`t get an answer the first day, you post.
Well, as I said above, I don`t use other aspects than the challenging ones, and I don`t really use the mixing of midpoints. Maybe someone else can help you with these.
But, no, it`s not normal, that you get so many double whammies, I think so, at least.
When I did my own comparision with that celebrity, I was so floored, that I got so many strong midpoints, and then I thought that it might always be this way.
But after having done some other comparisions, I can assure you, no, it`s not usual. There are usually some midpoints, but they vary in quantity and strength.
Even though, it`s interesting how many times the Sun-Moon-midpoint aspecting the others moon or sun or asc or nn or venus or mars, appear in close relationships.

Zala - Thanks will join that message board and post. You are a sweetheart.

I checked other midpoints with the same couple:

HER Sun/Venus Midpoint semisex His S/Her V midpoint (1)
HIS Sun/Venus Midpoint semisex Her S/His V midpoint (0)
Their composite S/S & V/V midpoints conjunct (5)

Thank you also DD for your response also. I just wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong because of all the DW which is why I asked. If getting DW is normal because you are using the same numbers, then ... I really don't know what I am doing!
I really do appreciate your responses.

Thanks Darkdreamer

Well, since that DW about 8th house ruller is in 0º orb,i´ll say that i really feel that magnetic attraction both emocional and sexual between me and my bf

And i dont wanna run away from it;i find it trully fantastic. Although sometimes is painful cause we live far away, whenever we´re together..nothing else exists for us.

Up to 2º orb i only find :

- my venus/mars conjuncts his 2nd house ruller(0º)
-his venus/mars conjuncts my 2nd house ruller(0º)- another DW ?
- MY VENUS/MARS oposes his moon(2º)
-my venus/mars conjuncts his happiness(0º)
-my part love conjuncts his venus(1º)
- his venus/mars conjunts my saturn (1º)
-DW on part Fate/karma conjunctions
-my part marriag conjunct his 6th ruller(1º)

What do you find on these?

The man I love and I both have pisces suns and leo moons but neither of them are conjunct.

BUT

Our sun/moon midpoints are both 28 degrees Taurus. Must be why we've gotten so deeply under one another's skin.

I'm very curious as to the interpretation of this, I hear a lot about midpoint to planet aspects, but surely this midpoint to midpoint is pretty important too?

DT,

yes, I know about that website. It`s interesting, because it is slightly different from how midpoints traditionally were used. But he mentions some interesting points there. I`m not sure about mixing his and her midpoints, though.
You know like: His Sun + her Moon conjunct his Ascendant or her Venus or something like that.
Even though it sounds interesting to me, I fear if we looked at ALL possible midpoints in every angle or way, then we would get so many, that we can`t see the most important ones anymore. Even more so, I have no idea how to interprete such a mixed midpoint.
I know a little bit how to interprete the normal midpoints. For example:
His Asc conjunct her Venus / Mars.
The combination of Venus and Mars indicate sexual attraction, and in this example it is triggered by his ASC.
So we could say that she is sexually attracted (her Venus-Mars-mp) to his appearance (his ASC).
Or if her Sun conjunct his Moon / Venus, I`d say it is like this:
The way she acts, she generally is (her Sun) awakes tender and affectionate feelings (moon - Venus-mp) in him.

But I can`t interprete mixed midpoints that way. 'But that could be only me, being so shortsighted.
However, I do have found that the `normal`midpoints work, I can`t say the same about the mixed ones. But only because I didn`t study them, so they could work very well, but I don`t know. Sorry, I can`t help you with these.

Diandra,
oh, that running-part, well I may have projected that back onto myself.
That actor I`ve been talking about, I share some 8th house-aspects with.
Like his Ascendant-ruler falls into my 8th house; my 8th house ruler falls into his 12th house, but conjunc this Ascendant.
His 8th house ruler is square my Ascendant, sextile my Venus, conjunct my ascendant-ruler, square my Mars.
My 8th house ruler is opposite his 1st house-ruler, conjunct his Ascendant, sextile his Neptune and trine his Pluto.
Actually there is a Kite between our horoscopes, involving his ascendant-ruler and my 8th house - ruler.
Also, his Sun-Venus mp conjuncts my 8th house ruler.

WEll, I surely had the feeling I should be running away, even though I`m never gonna meet him and all. But I`m almost scared about how deeply he affected me, even without having met him.
So that`s where the running-away-part came from.

The DW on your 2nd house ruler is interesting. To me, in synastry, the 2nd house represents the body, the real physical manifestation of the body, and if the 2nd house is involved in synastry, there can be some kind of quiet, sensual, but somewhat posessive kind of attraction.
So, in my midpoint translation that would be:
Your body trigger sexual attraction in each other.
I didn`t have any good ideas concerning the other connections. Sorry.

MoonDreamer,
the book is "The love relationship formula"; it`s a good read.
Also, Eros aspecting Sun-Moon - midpoint, that sounds delicious to me. NOt easy, but with many possiblities to transform oneself and of course to be strongly attracted to each other.

Oz,
I don`t know about midpoint to midpoint. But are there aspects to both midpoints from planets?

Thanks DD for your answer. I will see if I can find any other info on the net about it.

What is your opinion on these:

HIS Mo/Ve conjuncts HER Pluto & NN (3 both)
& semisex HER Asc (2)
HER Mo/Ve semisx HIS Pluto (3) & NN (5)
& quincunx HIS Asc (3)

HIS V/M sextile HER Asc (1)
conjuncts Her Psyche (0)
trines HER Moon (1)

HER V/M sq HIS Moon (0) & Sat (2)

HER S/M trines HIS Sun (2) & Mer (3)
HIS S/M trines HER Mer (1) & conjuncts HER P/Love (1)

HIS SUN also trines HER
P/Fort (2), P/Lovers (0), P/Love (5),
Dec (4), Jupiter (4), P/Marriage Woman (1),
Juno (0), & Saturn (3)

HIS S/V trines HER Sun (0)
sextiles HER Chiron (1) & Ceres (0)
opposite HER V/M (2)

HER S/V sextiles HIS Sun (5), S/M (1) & Mer (0)
semisx HIS IC (1)
sq HIS Vesta (1) & Ceres (0)

HIS Mo/Ma conjuncts HER V/M (2), IC (4) & Mo/Ma (6)
sextiles HER Sun (0)
trines HER Chiron (1) & Ceres (0)

What orb is the best to use? I have read from 0-2, average 5-6, some up 10. I understand that the closer the stronger, but what is the average cut off point?

Thanks again.

DT,

with midpoints the orbs have to be very tight. Most astrologers only use 1° orb. I tend to widen that orb to 2°, especially if personal planets are involved.
But I only look at conjunction, opposition, square, semisquare and sesisquare, because those aspects provide the most energy, and therefore might be felt more strongly than a trine for example.

you asked about some midpoints:
Well, His Moon / Venus conjuncts her Pluto and NN:
You have to remember that he has that midpoint-picture with everyone of your generation (Pluto travels really slowly), but if it`s in a near to exact orb, and especially with the NN tied into it. The NN is a bit more quickly, but not much; still with the tight orbs it might be a fairly individual combination.
So I think this aspect might be felt like a very strong and intense emotional attraction. NOt so much physical, but a real strong attachment.
The orb is with 3° a bit wide, I`m not sure how strong the impact would be.

Venus / Mars conjunct Psyche, seems to be a meaningful aspect, too. But I`m not sure how to interperte Psyche in midpoint-pictures.
There is stron sexual attraction (Venus / Mars) to whatever Psyche represents in your horoscope.

Venus / Mars square Moon; again a sign of physical attraction.

Do you also have a connection between midpoints of Sun / Moon and Sun / Venus to your planets? Those would be good for emotional bonding and deep affection and caring for each other.

Thanks DD for your answer. Yes I know about the Pluto generational thing, just thought I'd ask anyway.

On calculating the midpoints, there are usually 2 calculations - near & far so I don't know which one to use or to use both when checking aspects to personal planets.

For example:
HIS S/M Vi 21 (far point) - Pi 21 (near point)

I calculated mathematically (using the Aries 0, Taurus 30, etc. then div. 2) and got
HIS S/M Virgo sesisquare HER Moon & Dec Aq.(1)
Using the near calculation I got
HIS S/M Pisces sesisquare HER Asc Le (1).

So which is correct or are they both? Correct me if I am wrong but a sesisquare is 135 degrees?

HER V/M Ar 27 sesisquare His Dec (1).
HER V/M Lb 27 sesisquare His Asc (1).

I realize that they are Asc/Dec but before I do more calcuations, I just wanted to know which is correct.

Using mathematical cal:
HER S/V semisquare HIS PL (0)
HER S/M semisquare HIS NN (0)

Many thanks for your help and teaching.
