Hello knowflakes!

*already posted this in Universal Codes, but this part of the forum seems more active*

I was wondering what might be the characteristics of an evolved soul. How should he/she look, think, act, love; how does his/her astrological chart look like, what numerological profile is he/she more likely to have? Does intelligence come with the teritory? Does fame? Will he/she have it easy in life or, on contrary, more difficult than the rest of us?
How can we recognize such a person? I would like to hear your opinions on the matter.

Here's a start -- some attributes of an "evolved" soul that resonate with me:

Tolerance - Respect for Other Beings.
Wisdom - that comes from Experience.
Serenity - to accept the vicissitudes of physical Life.
Compassion - for Other Beings.
Reverence - for Other Life Forms and for the Divine Spark within each of us.

A difficult life I dare say....

Who is to try to conceptulalize the "evolved soul..."

From what I have experienced in my 45 years of this earth time....

The chosen path that is percieved by most to be difficult is usually the individual that exudes the most spiritual blessings and evolvement...

Be it the homeless, the alcoholic, the junkie, the infirm, the abused,on and on and on...

I would venture to guess that the most "enlightened" individuals on this earth now are not sitting high in castles with vast intellect, are not our politicians who lead our countries, are not our priests......

They are you and me....

Stuck here in the muck and growing from the seeds we planted long ago....

in the muck~~~

Beautifully expressed hippichick, but i tend to disagree.

Regarding difficult lives....there are degrees of difficulty, and people have different tolerances for pain.

I disagree that success and being spiritual evolved cannot go hand in hand.similarly poverty or hardships don't automatically lead to emotional maturity and enlightenment.

i would think that an unbreakable, unshakable spirit is needed for attaining spirituality, and i think that the same is needed for success too, unless u get really lucky.

One can enjoy material success, but their life might be a mess when it comes to personal relationships, so you have a difficult life there. and hence potential for spiritual enlightenment by your criteria

Well, what I took from what she was saying is that we are all evolved souls if we choose to be. I think there are many layers and types of evolved souls as there are types of people. It's just a matter if you can own it or not. I think we would be surprised what the qualifications are.

Hmmm....

Characteristics:

    - Love of oneself despite knowing the flaws realistically
    - A helpful demeanor
    - An acceptance of the way things are, and yet a willingness to try to make things better

How would one look? Probably like an individual that is comfortable in his/her own skin.

How would one act? I'm guessing with a certain quiet confidence. I also think that these people would be the ones you see who are really able to enjoy themselves observing the nature and beauty of things.

How would one love? Without much, if any, hindrance to another.

What would one's astrological chart/numerical profile look like? Who knows? Could be a variety.

Does intelligence come with the territory? I think the intelligence is displayed in that ability to accept things realistically.

Does fame come with the territory? I would think that more often it wouldn't.

Would one have it easy in life or more difficult? At the start anything's possible, but I would think the end would be pretty darn easy.

How can you recognize such a person? I think you can recognize them by the absense of a need to impress you as well as their absense of a need to hinder you.

Ok, i have a question.

What kind of flaws do you think are 'allowed' to a spiritually evolved person ?

I also think humility would be a characteristic. So humble in fact that a truly evolved soul would not even think he/she were an evolved soul, much less ever say it to anyone else.

Evolved souls just do their thing in the world, caring for others, loving others and working towards righting the wrongs in the world in a humble non-flamboyant way.

I also think that once we start putting certain characteristics onto what an evolved soul would be like we might miss a truly evolved soul because he/she does not project one or two of those qualities that we expect him/her to have.

Isn't it pigeon holing to put certain characteristics onto what an evolved soul is like? Even the saints had character flaws.

I think if you were ever in the company of an evolved soul you would just know it.

Then why do you think that they wouldn't?

The journey begins with
Know Thyself
and continues with
Know ThySelf.

I agree with this though:
"I also think that once we start putting certain characteristics onto what an evolved soul would be like we might miss a truly evolved soul because he/she does not project one or two of those qualities that we expect him/her to have."
because obviously on this thread alone there are different ideas, and actually, the truth is, we are ALL evolving souls because we are all changing little by little whenever we mix energies with others.

Why do I think they wouldn't even think of themselves as an evolved soul? Because that would not be a humble thought.

If they did think, " I am an evolved soul" they would immediately lose their humility. If they thought they were spirtually evolved just having that thought would mean they weren't spritually evolved. Because that would be a thought of the ego.

Mother Teresa of Calcutta did not think of herself as a saint or an evolved soul. Neither did Francis of Assisi. They just did their thing and followed their own conscience. In fact any time people praised Francis of Assisi for all his good works he would get Brother Juniper and the two of them would goof off all day on a seesaw. He said he did that because he did not want others to think he was more than he was.

Mother Teresa told those who praised her for her good deeds and caring for others that it was not she who deserved the praise but God. She said she just tried to stay out of God's way so God could be God. She was even humble about receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. In her speech she told them that the cost of the dinner in her honor and the cost of the award itself would have fed a lot of hungry people in the world.

Padre Pio had the stigmata for most of his life and he wrapped his hands in cloth all the time so that people couldn't see the wounds. Not because he was ashamed of them but because he was humble and did not want others to think he was more than he was.

Even Jesus when called "good master" by people told them, " Why do you call me good? Only God is good."

Truly evolved souls are not interested in image. They aren't concerned with how others see them or what others think of them. They only care how God sees them.

Knowing ourselves means being totally honest with ourselves and seeing our flaws and weaknesses along with everything else. All the people I mentioned knew theirselves only too well. The one thing they always kept in mind is that true spirituality is not about being "more than" it's about being "less than." They didn't care for any image the world had of them. They only cared how God saw them. For that reason they would not have even considered how evolved their soul was.

Whose going to judge how evolved our souls are? No other human being can do that because we don't have the ability to see into the souls of each other. The only one who can truly judge the state of our souls is God and truthfully he is the only one who matters anyway when it comes to judging how evolved our souls are.

When other people judge our souls based on preconceived notions of what characteristics we should have, all it amounts to is a popularity contest because human beings have not only the capacity to fool other people but they also fool themselves. None of us can fool God though.

Those are just my thoughts about it.

Just wanted to add that I agree with you MM. We are all changing all the time, we are all evolving souls. The term evolved implies to have arrived.

And as you said, exchanging with each other is what helps us grow and learn and keep evolving.

Wow! Thank you all for answering! There are some pretty interesting opinions here - though different. But then again, I don't think we get to judge who is or isn't an evolved soul; all we can do is offer personal opinions on this and learn from each other.
When I asked about intelligence and fame, I was referring to the great thinkers of our world, the ones that have influenced us on so many levels and succeeded, to a certain extent, to change our mentality. Yes, most of these people probably didn't strive to be famous and they were modest about their witts. In my opinion, these great men had to be evolved souls.
This is not to say that common people can't be evolved souls. But I think one of the basic characteristics is spiritual awereness - and if through that awereness they have access to informations that could benefit the rest of us, I think they should share it with us and this usually means that they have to stand up and raise their voice so we could hear them.
I agree with you InLoveWithLife on this statement: <<their life might be a mess when it comes to personal relationships, so you have a difficult life there.>> Maybe because it would be very difficult for them to find somebody as evolved as they are, who could understand them. Also, evolved souls seem to spend a lot of time in solitude, meditating, praying or just simply contamplating the beauty of the world.
I think that we may make a mistake by asking too much of these people... they should be this, they should be that... After all, they are only human, like we are. They are not perfect - if they were, they wouldn't be incarnated here on Earth. They make mistakes, like everybody does. Yes, they probably make fewer and not as serious as other people's. They are extraordinary people and they probably have high morals.
I agree with MysticMelody that they are probably aware that they are evolved. They don't brag about it, but I think they know. This puts a huge responsability on them - it would be hard not to acknowledge it. But they probably accept this without complaining.
<<I think if you were ever in the company of an evolved soul you would just know it.>>
I agree with this. I've met such a person and he changed me forever. He is not at the end of the spiral, but he is the most special person I've met. One of his best traits, that I have always admired, is his integrity. This is the kind of person that does the right thing, even if it doesn't benefit him, but it is for the higher good. I will always be grateful to have met him. I will never be the same.

Just some of my thought about this...

Mirandee,
You make an interesting point. I agree that this people are humble and modest, but does this mean they can't be aware of themselves? That they don't acknowledge their qualities and their flaws?

Mirandee thank you for gently explaining your thoughts on this. I was worried about how you would perceive my question, and I didn't want to upset you, but I also wanted to understand. I thought about putting smilie faces etc near my question to let you know it wasn't rude, but that could have looked rude too, so I just stopped trying so hard and said a little prayer that it would work out! I understand you more now. I also don't believe that master teachers like Jesus looked around and thought, "I am better than this riff-raff." I just think that he was aware that he had a deeper relationship to God. I think our opinions are closer than they seemed at first.
I think that I should address this first:
"The term evolved implies to have arrived." to give you an idea of where my mind is on this discussion. I agree with that sentence completely, and I don't think we have arrived until we are One with God, which would make us God. So, I think the discussion is only going to address "more evolved" souls, and I do think it is obvious that all the myriad illusionary "pieces" of God are evolving at different rates, have different vibrations etc (you vs a table or an ant for example) but I think there is difficulty in deciding who or what is "more evolved" because people and creatures are further evolved in different areas. To me, looking at mosquitos, dogs, dolphins, average person, Mother Theresa, child molester, presents a clear range and I think that Mother Theresa also knows the difference between her own connection to God and the connection lacking in a child molester for example.
Jesus said something like, "All this, you can do and more" when he referred to himself, and I completely agree with that of course, and agree that it is God, not our ego, that gives each of us flashes, moments, or weeks/years/lifetimes of insight.
I am just trying to discern where our opinions diverge. For example, I clearly know the difference between how I used to think/feel/understand/Know/behave etc. and how I do these things now. I am more evolved and closer to God than I used to be.
I have a favorite author who talks about the 5-Sensory Personality vs the 6-Sensory Personality and I agree with him that there is a distinction. Once this line is drawn however, I think it gets more complicated. People have different areas of expertise and different "keys" and cooperation is required for further advancement.
I see it divided like a astro chart, 3-D circle with complete understanding/God at the core with each area of expertise a square on the outside of the 3-D ball that reaches to center in a point. We can all learn what there is to know to get deeper into our cone, but we have to keep make connections with others at those deeper levels to form a web of understanding around the core. Then I personally think we are sent back to connect and understand the rest of the ball. This isn't a journey for only one lifetime. This is a fabulous adventure that expands and expands "infinitely".

MysticMelody,

Let's think of this, what Jesus said, ALL I can do, you can do also...

How many people have been able to do what Jesus did? 2000 years have gone by, why are there not more miracle workers?

Are we taking that statement as Truth?
Did Jesus really say this?

^ There are miracle workers, healers, etc. Have always been, and always will be. They just don't brag about them, and keep a low profile. We live in a very different world than Jesus did, in a very scientific one (which is of course a good thing to a certain point) that doesn't leave much room for spiritual and "supernatural" experiences (which is the negative side of it). But I think times are changing, more people are becoming more interested in spiritual subjects and accepting about the fact that perhaps we don't know everything yet...

Izo,

i used to feel that way once...like its me against the world. like no one understands me, blah blah. But i don't believe it is true. I think spiritual evolvement is more common that we suspect. just because someone has not bared their soul to us, we should not assume that they are not spiritually evolved. i have been shocked. like you, i had the privilege to be with a spiritually evolved person. he changed me for ever.

Mirandee, i too feel that it is impossible to not be aware of where you stand in relationship to God. you can feel that peace inside yourself. you know you trust in human nature more than before. you can feel yourself progress. the fallacy lies in beginning to think that you are 'better' instead of thinking that you are more 'aware'. that's what i feel it means, a greater awareness of yourself, being in touch with your inner child, following your heart, etc etc.

Do you think, that if someone raised someone from the dead, that we would not know about it?

If a blind person was Healed and given Sight, we would not have heard?

With the media today, I believe we would of heard of such Miracle Workers. ...

I am just trying to make people ask questions, and for them to realize that you cannot believe anyOne, the Truth is within each person, through the One and Only True GOD. ...

LOve and Reverence to ALL... .

Lotus (my spiritual friend), we are all children of God (all a part/are God). I believe in the essence of the teaching, not in the stories manipulated by humans to serve their purposes (to keep children or people in line, political agenda of the Roman Empire who used "Jesus" to "unite" people to keep the certain form of political control they believed in etc).

We are all performing the miracle Jesus spoke of right now, by joining with each other to share our light and progress on our journey.
We are parting the barriers that seem to be between us and a better place, a better way, and we are walking through with light shining around us.

Have a beautiful night children of God.

"I am a glorious child of the Universe. I am joyful, serene, positive and loving."
