Though Libra is often "misunderstood", as it were, remember the important question... why is it the only sign represented by an object (The Scale) as opposed to an entity? In this regard, I do believe that it is misunderstood on a Spiritual level. But so are Gemini and Capricorn. Well, I suppose on a metaphysical level, one could pitch a good case that many of the Signs are not understood by the exoteric astrologer.

Gemini? Any idea as to why this Sign might be misunderstood, or perhaps underestimated by the average astrologer?

Capricorn... now there's a story.... it has to do with the correct way that the glyph for the sign is drawn, and what that represents. Again, any thoughts?

I'm a Capricorn with a Gemini Ascendant, two planets in Libra, and three planets in house Libra rules, so of course I'm interested.

And, no, I don't have a clue what the Capricorn glyph means.

I've read explanations for the Gemini glyph ranging from "Two pieces of Wood bound together" to a representation of the Roman Numeral II. And then you have the stylized pictorial one of the twins holding hands. Depends. There is a spot on Astrology Weekly. That has some origins.
Capricorn changes quite dramatically over time. Depends on ancient vs modern. But anyway I'll paste some origins.
Astrology of Capricorn: Origin / Representation Capricorn is represented by a mythical creature who is half goat, half fish. In Greek mythology, the god Bacchus was sitting by a river when he was threatened by a monster. Fearing death, he dove in and transformed himself: underwater he was a fish who survived by swimming; above the water he was a goat with horns who could fight the monster. Jupiter (who, by the way, rules Sagittarius) was impressed enough to promote Bacchus to the heavens, where he remains as the constellation Capricorn to this day.

Capricorn is also the sign of sin and sacrifice. Sagittarius the centaur-archer is believed to have shot Capricorn, transforming him into a sacrificial goat, or scapegoat. This is the very foundation of many religions, including the story of Jesus Christ.

In the Apocalypse, St. John explains that the Sun God (or son of God) is always born at midnight when the sun enters this sign of the winter solstice. The child is born in poverty, in a goat's manger in a stable, so that he can later save humankind as its sacrificial goat.

Astrology of Gemini: Origin / Representation Gemini is symbolized by twins. In Greek astrology, those twins were Castor and Pollux, twin stars in the sky and heroic brothers in myth. Castor was a great horseman, and Pollux was a champion boxer (ironic, because Gemini is not normally a violent sign). More commonly, the twins are thought of as bright children, which gives Gemini a sense of mirth, innocence, and great wonder
Astrology of Libra: Origin / Representation Libra is symbolized by scales, which represent balance. It's believed this idea originated because Libra begins on the autumnal equinox, at a time when the amount of daylight and darkness are exactly the same. In the old days, some societies made their convicted criminals wait until the autumnal equinox before executing them, so they could appease the gods of justice at the same time.
And as to signs 'misunderstood' or IMO dumbed down. Remember all of us have years of newspaper astrology stuck in our heads. I don't think Gemini is singled out as being misrepresented. Linda Goodman is responsible for making Sun sign astrology an art.
PS I also remember looking up the funny squiggle that was Capricorn [I love that glyph] a reading that it was the curved horns around a goats head. Heading up. The Heading up part has always stuck with me- goes with achievement/ambition.

Greetings...

Again, I would implore more thought on the matter and an avoidance of being burdened by overly PSYCHOLOGICAL interpretations of these signs and planets, but more attuned to their Spiritual meanings.

I have my thoughts, which I will gladly share, but I was hoping to generate thought spiraling, in the nature of Linda's Nahtan.

The GLYPH for Gemini is not in question... that was related to Capricorn, and the hidden meaning in its glyph, the one that looks like the VS, not the one that looks like a combined 7 and 6, although that might tell us equally as much about Capricorn after a bit of meditation.

I think in some ways with this Cosmic Science, that we have gone too far into the realms of Psychology, and removed ourselves from the realm of the Spirit. Though the One (Spirituality) actually does encompass the other.

Astrology is, above all a symbolic language. It allows those Gifted with the skill, to read God's 'handwriting on the wall', as it were. Remember there is both an exoteric Astrology and an Esoteric Astrology. (though here I do not necessarily refer to that horror described by Alice Bailey) The questions that I pose are designed to open up the Mind to Esoteric Astrology, and what I have been seeing in response seems to be more related to the exoteric side.

Any thoughts?

Blessings...
