Okay this maybe a dumb question to people who are more educated in astrology than me
:-)
Are inconjunctions better than squares/oppositions??!?! Is it easier to manage than those annoying squares??

That depends on what you consider good..eg. I have a friend with whom we share many squares and oppositions and we have the best debates ever! We both thouroughly enjoy each others company even though we annoy the hell out of each other sometimes.

He is a very logical thinking virgo with very good argumentation techniques (to my frustration-libra mercury) who pretty much laughs at my beliefs in astrology. Our mercs are exactly square (mines in cancer). I thrive on mental stimulation (gem moon/venus) and he does too...aqua moon virgo sun. So all those squares and oppositions are very enjoyable for us...at the end of the day we just agree to disagree and give each other a hug, we both respect each others very different ways of thinking, it helps you to learn if you are open to other ways of thinking.

ANYWAY sorry bout that rant.. inconjunctions are very mild and barely felt IMO. I dont pay much attention to them at all because they aren't 'strong enough'-there isn't much energy felt between the two planets involved - not necessarily a good or bad thing.

Aha! I see now, thanks so much.
I have some injunctions with my current SO. I hope these are easier to manage than squares/oppositons...so far it seems easy to manage. We'll see!
Thanks.

If I had to choose just one, I'd rather have the quincunx than the squares/opps.
In Squares, the planetary energies conflict; a dynamic and creative tension; effort brings rich rewards over time. And I wouldn't like a natal or synastry chart bereft of squares.
The Opposition is polarity, with integration as the challenge.
But in the inconjunct, one or the other of the planetary energies *can* predominate. "Adjustment" seems to be the favorite term for the quincunx
I've read other interps that say if adjustments cannot be made, each planet's energies become compartmentalized.

Magi likes the quincunx (except for Saturn ) and so do I. My Sun and Moon are almost exactly quincunx, and I also own Moon/Neptune and Moon/Pluto quincunxes. I do understand about the need for adjustment as the energies of the mode and element can be so wildly different. But once you get a handle on consciously (or unconsciously ) blending the energies -- joining them, harnessing them to work together -- the result is fabulous!!

Actually, this hasn't been my experience, especially Sun/Moon and Moon/Pluto. I do pay attention to the 150 deg aspects, but generally with a very small orb (the Lights I would give 3 degrees to, other planets max 2).....

What were you experiences with them..how did they manifest with sun/moon and moon/pluto?

I have never found them to stand out too much but they have only been my experiences.

Definately not BAD, no aspect or sign in astrology ever bad!
Do you know how wide the orbs are? Like Zala said before she only really counts them if they are within a 3deg orb which is the same degree i would go to too.. For eg..if your saturn is at 20sag inconjunct his 21cappy moon then i would count it for sure, but if his moon is getting on to 24degrees etc etc..It starts to become less intense, with other aspects like the conjunctions/oppositions etc you can use around a 7deg orb because they are major aspects and are more easily felt but with the inconjucntions/semi-sextiles/quincunxes etc its better to use a smaller orb because they are already minor aspects.

Hopefully some of that made sense

It depends on how the energy is expressed.

Generally a quincunx or inconjunction, is expressed as a definite need for adjustment. It's as if the two planets simply cannot function together without some kind of adjustment being made constantly. Because of this, very quincunx can be very unnerving and uncomfortable to deal with, especially if the energies are incompatible to begin with.

With the square, some consider it to be more powerful or "negative" because you feel the energy at work at all times. You're forced to deal with it, in either a positive or negative way. This is why some people with Sun square Pluto, for example, are ruthless, cruel, and manipulative and others are driven, powerful, and have great passion & healing ability. The good thing about squares is that they pack energy so you never have to be idle and wait for them to affect you, you could always take action by thrusting the energy of the square into something positive.

Oppositions often occur in people outside ourselves. The energy is often projected onto others, or completely ignored. Some people end up resonating with one planet and denying the qualities of the other.

I had this issue for a while. I have a Moon-Mars opposition. For a while, especially younger, because I was so sensitive (Moon in the 8th), I ignored my emotional needs and my vulnerable side, and fully embodied my Mars. This was a defense mechanism for me, I used it so that no one could hurt me by becoming tough (Mars) and emotionally impenetrable (Mars in Aquarius). I also gave up on depending on the support from others (Moon/8th) in my life at a very young age. I was disgusted by the idea of financial support/assistance by anyone (I was only 18 at the time, mind you)...and so I worked, and I worked damn hard to make sure I acquired my own... (Mars in the 2nd, Cap on the 2nd) and made sure I saved it too, cuz I never wanted to have to ask anyone for anything again. I became ridiculously materialistic (I'm naturally a very spiritual person, so this was a huge change). It threw everything out of wack for me.

The purpose of the opposition is to find balance so we don't really help our selves by hanging out with one planet and shunning the other.
