There`s also another theory, which sais that the 3rd house shows, how you express yourself in regard to others. You know, what others actually SEE of your selfexpression (of course the interpretation ahs to be combined with the one of the 1st house, which is your instinctual self expression); and what others notice at first about you is the way you communicate, you talk, you think. But communication here is really meant as a way to express yourself. In the 9th house the focus of your communication lies more strongly on others.
It`s interesting the 3rd house is still a house of the physical quadrant.

Try putting the two together and say that the third house describes how you learned to think--literally how you were taught to think. This may differ from Mercury which describes your natural mental type.

What you were thinking of is probably the tradition that the third house shows your siblings--but keep in mind it can only show those in existence at your birth.
