How? Hotlinking is putting the [img] tags around a web address. Only Moderators and the original writer of the post can go into a post and change anything. Read up on hotlinking here: http://altlab.com/hotlinking.html

Why? Well, it's either as Zala said, and the owner of the cat site doesn't like people hotlinking to his/her site, and therefore set a trap for anyone who did, or it's an Astrology forum Moderator modifying CF's post.

I understand the whole hotlinking thing now.. and, I know that if they change the picture on that link - it will change here as well.. or wherever anyone used the picture.

What surprised me was Lalalinda saying that my post said the following:

this is me:

*insert pic*

this is my bf:

*insert pic*

When I never actually typed "this is my bf" in the post. I know they can change the destination of the link I posted - by setting up that link to go to a porn pic.. But they shouldn't be able to alter the writing to my post - unless they had my nick/password or were a moderator or a hacker.

Anyways, maybe Lala read it wrong because GreenFairy didn't see a "my boyfriend" at all.

I don't want to ruin this thread, so I'll leave it.

I'm pretty certain the pic switcheroo came from the webmaster of *that* site.. because when I went there a second time there were porn pics posted there instead of some of the cat pics *gag*

I was only worried about people actually altering what I'm typing in my posts.. but like I said, I'll leave it.. because nothing has happened since then, so I don't think I'll have any probs.
