Saturn cycles, Saturn as Father Time, Saturn as our destiny/Karma;
How does one use what we know about Saturn to interpret his importamce in our natal chart/life path???

Linda Goodman’s Star Cards - says the following:
Number 8 Card – Saturn

Saturn is the major planet of karma. You may picture him as old Father Time, or the wise, bearded grandfather who drops by periodically to balance the spiritual account books of your karma—past, present, and future. Saturn is a stern judge, but always fair. The movement of Saturn through the twelve Sun Signs has the strongest, most reliable and predictable effect on your life of any planet or luminary (sun or moon) – also the most lasting. Saturn is our destiny.

The number 8 card vibrates to Saturn, which is the ruler of the Sun Sign Capricorn and symbolizes discipline and responsibility.

Can anyone tell me how to interpret my Saturn, what pointers do I look at e.g as Capricorn's ruler do I look at aspects between my Saturn and any planets/points in Capricorn, houses etc.

Advice and tips needed - Thanx

I'd start off with which house its located in natally and which sign its in, as well as the cusp on the house its located in. Then, I'd look to see what kind of aspects its making and to which planets.

Next, I'd look to see where transiting saturn is. Do you have any planets in virgo, opposite virgo, sqaring virgo, etc.? What aspects is it making with your natal planets; which aspects is your natal saturn making to the other transiting planets (especially the outer planets)?

I'd start there.

Thanx Mustang
Natal Saturn in gemini 1st house; I'm slightly worried cos on 6th Nov Saturn will be exactly conjunct my Pars Fortuna in Virgo and exactly sextile my Moon in Cancer and square my natal Saturn. Virgo rules my 4th house but the conjunction will take place near the end of my 3rd house. I don't have any planets placed in Virgo.

Does Natal Saturn determine your destiny? I'm reading up on posts re: Saturn seven cycle and Nodes...

Right, going to look at other aspects.

Can I play?

Saturn location
6th house(Gemini) 0 degrees.

Aspects
~Semi-sextile:Sun,Moon,Mercury
~Semi-square:Chiron
~Trine-Uranus,Pluto,MC(Virgo)
~Quincux-AC(Sag)
~Opposition-Jupiter,Neptune

6th house:Health,Work and Service, and work we do on ourself (personal growth)
The Sixth House is ruled by the Sign Virgo and the Planet Mercury.

So...How do I apply that thought to the aspects that saturn is making in my chart.
And also knowing that Saturn is transiting Virgo now.

I don't think anything in your chart can determine your destiny. That's really fatalistic, but it does effect you depending where it is natally and in transit. I have it in my first house, too. It's technically at the end of the 12th, so I feel both houses. In the first, it can make a person self-conscious and not have good boundaries (if negatively expressed)and while younger. Or they APPEAR to not have these traits. It can also make the person serious, organized, and responsible (or appear that way). Sometimes it works the other way around, and a person WILL be responsible, but others won't perceive them to be. Either way, it will color the person's appearance to others depending on where they are in their development. Usually, these people will achieve the best virtues of saturn later in life - IF they do the work.
Can you post your chart with transits? I can get a better idea that way.

My saturn is also the apex of a yod. tSaturn is transiting my fifth house right now.

Your saturn is at a critical degree. That means its emphasized.

I'd need to know where the planets are that its aspecting.

tSaturn should be transiting your 10th house unless you have intercepted signs. I doubt you have virgo on the cusp of your 6th house, since you have sag AC. You should have taurus on your 6th.

Ok Mustang - so you said
quote:

I do agree with you, although I often describe myself as fatalistic, I do also believe in free will; but I have felt recently a lot of unexplained changes in myself and so started looking into Saturn Seven as described in Gooberz and here in LL, and alot makes sense so that's why the extra interest in Saturn of late - and also in my first house like you; I figured it must be signifcant to my path.

This is so weird only the other day I was discussing with my mum how I am super-able to organise other people e.g in the workplace etc, but totally lame at organising myself at home LOL, now I know why, thanx Mr Saturn!

I have made and experienced many changes only in the last twelve months, both big and small changes and really am at a crossroads now, like 'where is all this going?' I'm hoping Saturn can help me with this issue

Plus, during my Saturn return, I ended a longterm relationship (9yrs), moved countries and changed professions, all big stuff, I seem to have come full circle - so it's like 'which way now?'

Thanx for your input

As I don't want to appear to be lazy, I'm going to list some of the things you mentioned last night
quote:

Natal Saturn - 1st House in Gemini (cusp of 1st House i.e ASC Taurus)
Aspects (natally): semi sextile moon; square POF; trine Pluto (but wide orb of 5"); opposite Jupiter; sextile Chiron (wide orb 5"); square MC/IC

quote:
Next, I'd look to see where transiting saturn is. Do you have any planets in virgo, opposite virgo, sqaring virgo, etc.? What aspects is it making with your natal planets

T Saturn right now is at the end of my 3rd house
Planets in Virgo - none, but have POF, Juno and IC
Aspects to Virgo (natally) - opposite MC; square Jupiter and Saturn; trine Vertex; sextile Moon

quote:
which aspects is your natal saturn making to the other transiting planets (especially the outer planets)?

Natal Saturn aspects: opp T Jupiter (wide orb 5"); square T Sun; trine Mercury (4" orb); will square up to T Saturn in 6 - 8 wks

I think that's it

Saturn is actually on my 9th house but my 6th house is in Gemini.
I am not sure about the other stuff you want to know.
Sorry!

May I suggest a book:
"The Limits of Astrology: Saturn for Today.

Available from my website, listed below. It goes into the various roles of Saturn in each sign and delineates Saturn in the houses.
