I'm thinking of using this analogy to describe the importance of Ascendant/Sun/Moon signs of people - to people who have no idea what to make of them!

"In astrology, you are an egg. Your ascendant is the color of the shell. Your Moon is the yolk. And your sun is...."

^ The last bit is where I get stuck. Help!

I think I'd make the yolk represent the Sun, the potential for life. And I'd make Moon the nourishing whites.

The Sun powers our lives--provides the energy, according to purpose and intent. The Moon channels that energy, formatting it, much like a step-down transformer (so that the Solar energy does not burn up the body). The result of this--the way it "looks" (the impression it makes) is the Ascendant.

SPECIAL NOTE: Some people have their Ascendant opposite the traditional location--generally this is true of those with a dominant right-brain/intuitive side.
Today, many people are sufficiently evolved to use both ends of the horizon, blending the Ascending and Descending signs.

You crack the egg open to prepare an omelet. All the ingredients you add are like the influences of Venus/tomatoes, Neptune/mushrooms, Jupitar/cheese, Mars/hot peppers, Saturn/salt, Uranus/, Pluto, etc.

The frying pan or grill is the earth and earth experience.
