I'm always reading in the net how those 2 make someone appear cold, detached and oh so "evil" and serious.
But almost all the people that i know with those risings (mainly earthy/watery types) are quite funny, entertaining and all smiles yet reserved, the sweetest people i'm telling you.
Has anyone else noticed that?

I'm a cap rising who's pretty good once you get to know me. Other than that, I'm always on my gaurd.

Its funny because my sister is a scorp rising and while she may not be the most outgoing on first impression, she is the least reserved. People get good vibes from her..LOL.

The rising sign is so much the "mask" you present to the world.

With Cap rising, I'm much more guarded at first on the outside than I am inside (Leo Sun and Merc, Cancer moon)...I do tend to go into things more strategically...and I can be a little cold if I'm shy or hurt.

My ex had Scorpio rising, and--other than his irresistible stare--he was super-duper Libran-acting (Libra Sun, Gemini moon)--friendly, charming, totally extroverted, lots of dimples, life of the party.

I have a Sag friend with Scorpio rising, and he can be either. He can be gregarious and charming, or he can the most verbally vindictive person you've ever encountered. He actually prides himself on that. I remember him once telling me that he thought he could take me if we ever had a verbal showdown. We never did.

My girlfriend has Capricorn Rising. Definitely makes her a lot more earthy, and gives her a desire to live life practically. She is fairly prone to depression, though.

I'm a sun sign Scorp with Capricorn rising, I can be sweetness itself or a raving lunatic depending on the situation. But any of those moods are REAL..depending on how i feel at that exact moment.
I do need to be seriously provoked though..or at least a little

I think the MC influence is important. Most Sco asc's have their MC in Leo; most Caps asc's have their MC in Libra. I think when people interact in social situations, many come across more as their MC. The asc is something you'll sense more if you didn't know them...say, they were a neighbor who you occassionally ran into on the elevator, or someone who you sat near in class but rarely spoke to. But I don't mean to imply that the ascendant isn't an important part of a person's personality. For me, anyway, my Scorpio Rising's influence on my personality & outlook is huge, but it's more quiet. What people I interact with see more obviously is my MC.
