I've watched the beginning of it, but haven't had time to watch the rest. I love documentaries, especially ones about religion, metaphysics, and ancient civilisations... this one looks interesting.Something jumped out at me though. I don't think the date of birth of Horus, Krishna and so on is 25 December... it seems like some of the facts are made up in order to fit the theory. However I do agree that Jesus is a solar god and that his story fits a particular myth structure. IP: Logged |

I've only been able to watch the first 8 minutes so far... But I am definitely going to try to watch the entire thing tomorrow. Thanks so much for posting the link!FYI GeminiLover75: Mithra, Horus, and Krishna do have 25 December as their birthday per their individual mythological lore. Those myths existed long before this movie, so the moviemakers didn't make up those particular bits. I'm not saying that they didn't make up any other facts (or bend them) as I haven't seen the whole movie, though! IP: Logged |

Really?! I seriously didn't think that was true... but isn't it also that 25 December is not Jesus' real date of birth? I thought 25 December was the date attributed to him afterwards because it fits a pre-existing Pagan celebration (winter solstice I believe)? I could be way wrong... maybe I should watch the rest of the movie...IP: Logged |

Whoops, I guess I wasn't quite clear in my post. I was just speaking about Mithra, Krishna, & Horus having 25 December birthdays. As for Jesus' birthday... ??? There are many theories on it - the most convincing one I have read places his birth in late March, but I would not say that is a definite answer. He very well might have been born on 25 December, but there is just as much chance he wasn't. Early Christians may have thought that a 25 December birthday celebration for Jesus would ease the conversion of Pagans to Christianity. "Switch gods, save yourselves, and keep your parties!" Ironically enough the person did make a fundamental mistake.Dionysus was not born of a virgin...not by a mile... nor did his mothers name begin with an M. It was actually Semele. She had an affair with Zeus who promised her anything she asked for. Jealous Hera came to her as a crone and convinced her to ask Zeus to see his real form. AS no human could handle that when he showed his deine glory she spontaneously combusted, obviously dying. Zeus took the infant and sawn him into his thigh, carrying him to term...Thus was born Dionysus...and a few others mentioned was a bit fishy. But overall cool ideology IP: Logged |

I thought the first chapter so far was interesting but like you, I kind of think there are some exaggerations (Like all of those other figures having similar origins).IP: Logged |

Oh yeah, or like how Moses marked the beginning of the Age of Aries. There was an astrologer on here who once even thought Moses was very Arien. Its almost spooky how its alanologous with Jesus being Piscean and marking the beginning of the Age of Pisces. IP: Logged |

I dunno, it seems like one of those things where it was like "New Age, new order, new prophet". Maybe that's what they were thinking upstairs. IP: Logged |
