What would North Node trine Saturn mean in a synastry chart? Especially since it's a double whammy with a 0 degree orb.

Any ideas folks?

Hey Love!

I remember reading someone's take on trines to the NN. I can't remember if it was IQhunk or Tim who said this. But the interpretation was that the trining (is that a word?) planet helps link the Node person's SN to her NN. It's an easy stepping stone to personal development. Since in this case the planet for both is Saturn, then each person's Saturn side will help the other person achieve the life goals indicated by their NN's sign & house placement.

Ah ha! Makes good sense! Thanks for that Jane And as for the word trining, if it feels good and sounds good then I say it's a word.

Oh! One other thing ~ how do you think this might be different from a conjunction aspect? Because in my experience with the NN, the conjunction feels like it's pulling (dragging?) me forward. Perhaps the trine is a more subtle/less intense influence? Or did you maybe mean a balancer of the NN and the SN? Or both?

I suppose it's more like a bridge that you can choose or not to take to your NN, while a NN conjunction is more like someone yanking you over onto the NN-side.

But, there are different ideas on Nodes aspects. Some think only conjunctions or oppositions have an influence; others also add the square. When I get the chance, I'll check out what I've experienced in synastry & think about how it played out in the relationship.

Great points Jane!

On the other hand, Ive been feeling more and more recently that all points, ASC, MC, Nodes respond only to conjunctions and that we are misattributing or overascribing features we see to the other aspects (square, trine, etc). The thing I cant get away from is the notion that tension requires two firmly located energies that are active. Like planets. The angles and nodes are receptive points, not active. Thats why they dont have any effect as transits.

That said, I definitely have seen situations where one person's nodes were conjunct anothers angles. With little else there in terms of classic aspects - the connection was significant. Only within 2-3 degrees though.
