I'm very new to astrology but doesn't it add a mixing of the two individual's styles that compliment each other if they worked at it? ------------------ Virgo Asc & Mars Gemini Sun Libra Moon Gemini Mercury Cancer Venus IP: Logged |

Heartcakes: I am dating a Virgo right now and yeah its definelty about balance and super super attraction..We have lots of oppositons from our suns to a double whammy of our Mars and Venus..Some how though we have a similar way of thinking, but over all we balance each other..Didn't think opposites were all that great but this seems to be beneficial.. hi got gemini, well yeah, that is always sort of vaguely part of the definition of an oppostion but it is always defined as a difficult or disharmonious aspect, and while i sort of understand how, i seriously always consider and FEEL it to be more positive than negative. but i AM an optimist so maybe i am just seeing the glass as too half-full? hi mama mia, yeah that is what i mean! it just seems to be really inherently positive. maybe what it is is that i believe we all need more balance in ourselves and we tend to believe something as being ultimately true until we learn otherwise, so having the balance of a very opposite perspective makes reality much more realistic or something.. know what i mean? maybe that's what i like about it. Sure, oppositions are positive--oppositions are two different things (or people) meeting face to face, so they can really look at each other, and learn something! They are very dynamic. Whatever it is, with an opposition, you can see it coming!Unlike squares, which bring our biggest challenges. That can be positive, but they can also make us feel really "stuck" or confused. So are you talking about an individual's chart, or a couple's synastry, or both?I think Tim's (Tim is an astrologer that used to be here) simple keyword/key phrase for oppositions was, "needs to be combined with." That sort of implies the same thing you're talking about. It's good if you go with it, but it can be stressful if you try to work against it. I don't mind my oppositions. Saturn opposite Mercury and Venus. Mars opposite Ascendant. Saturn opposite Mercury is definitely a helpful aspect. Brings Saturn's structure to the thought process. IP: Logged |

I think I'd agree, with a possible caveat for Sun opposite Moon, which in my limited experience seems fairly stressful for the people that have it.IP: Logged |

YAY!! it is funny because i really do like them when i see them. i'm like, aww, long lost buddies (that is how i think of them; being fundamentally the same, just expressing themselves in opposite ways.. going off in their separate directions after a nice happy childhood together or something) IP: Logged |

Awww how sweet, heart cakes! I kinda get what you mean...that sems to happen frequently in life (to me). The two parties understand each other, but evolve and develop into antipodal spheres. When they reunite, it's just like former times; they completely understand and accept each other for who they are, once where, and have become. They love one another unconditionally enough to let each other go along their merry way... until they meet again.IP: Logged |

yeah.. i mean.. i think of it as challenging forsure, and requiring effort, but i just feel that inherently it is very very positive! i just don't see that interpretation being offered very often (if ever? i think i saw it somewhere once, something along those lines..) and it is so cool that so many of you feel that way too! but then, this place has linda's magical optimism dust all over it!!IP: Logged |
