Do you ever find that you're treated differently when you wear colors that you'd associate with signs other than your own?

I bought a yellow button-down shirt for work a couple weeks ago, and it seems like masculine sign types are friendlier when I wear this color. One of my Libra co-workers always makes note of it. Last week she gave me a yellow foam stress ball, because it matched me.

This morning one of the more standoffish women in accounting decided to engage me in conversation in the breakroom, which was totally unexpected.

Is it just coincidence, or is there something to the color choices people make, and the resultant behavoir of the people encountering that color?

'Tis my favourite colour!

I'd say there's probably something in it. Try again with pinks or blues and see if the more feminine or maternal types flock towards you and then you'll know if you're on to something!!!

I know that when I wear white, more older & "upscale" men tend to check me out more. When I wear orange, women are more friendlier, I get random compliments.
I tend to wear turqoise/aqua when I go out on first dates because men seem more attracted to me and they always say they're under my spell. My blues have never failed me yet!

AG~ You know how important I feel color is psychologically. Medical Dr's do as well. Children's wings in hospitals. Psyche wards etc, are painted in specific colors to produce effects. Green calms, yellow stimulates.
When I wear a color for the day it shows my emotional state. Sometimes I will wear a color to counteract Say I have a difficult meeting w/ superiors who are steadfast in a direction I feel will be to the detriment of the business. I will wear red, for power. If they do not take me seriously I will wear a stripe, with red in it. They listen more. It works.

Yeah, red is definitely a power color. I remember reading that teams that incorporate red into their uniforms do much better than teams that don't in the Olympics. Makes me feel sorry for my Larkspur team (though the new uniforms do look more commanding in some way).

When i wear white or fuschia (my favorite color ) people are kinder to me. Men and women. When I wear black I notice that people are likely to be more hostile towards me.

Thanks for caring.

I'm far away from the fires. Isis and I live fairly close to one another. I'm located about 30 miles east of San Francisco.

I think it's really interesting on a given day in the office when you see multiple people wearing the same colors- purple, pink, red, etc. (not the usual colors for most) It's like something is going on outside that makes people wear the same color on the same day.

I was there this summer, AG. Drove from SF all the way to Portland and back. Absolutely beautiful.

And yellow is just so dern happy...definitely one of my favorites!

I'm sure color effects us all. It seems like I read a good article on that somewhere. I'll see if I can dig it up!

Glad to hear that you're safe!!!

Ta dah...

Yellow represents joy, happiness, optimism, idealism, imagination, hope, sunshine, summer, gold, philosophy, dishonesty, cowardice, betrayal, jealousy, covetousness, deceit, illness, hazard, spirtuality and inspiration.
The yellow rose is a symbol of friendship, less passionate or threatening than red ones.

In Asia yellow is sacred, and imperial.

Red is the color that we pay the most attention to. It is the warmest and most energic color in the spectrum.

We associate red with love, valentines, danger, desire, speed, strength, violence, anger, emergency exit signs, stop signs and blood.

Red can evoke a fight-or-flight response, raise blood pressure and make the heart beat faster.

Red would not be the color of choice for psychiatric wards, prisons or a hospital.

In China red symbolizes celebration and luck, used in many cultural ceremonies that range from funerals to weddings.

In India red is the color of purity (used in wedding outfits).

So I'm not the only one... I thought I was being silly and trying to find patterns.

I tend to gravitate towards white, black, brown, olive"ish" greens and grey... whether for myself or choosing for others.

I'm not really sure what sign is attracted to what.....

My Aqua daughter likes bold colors. Orange, reds, blues, etc.

Edit: Bold colors seem more extroverted to me.

Yeah, Northern California is certainly represented here. Nephthys is in the Bay Area, too...and yourfriendinspirit just says that she is in generic Northern CA.

Staying safe doesn't seem to be an option these days with all these natural disasters happening. You never know the next area that's going to get hit.

Back on color:
Nitz, my coworker, admitted that she likes the color of my shirt. She says it reminds her of cheese. Then her and Laura started talking about grilled cheese sandwiches, and the conversation evolved from there.
