The asteroid Victoria (12) was discovered on Friday September 13, 1850 Victoria is officially named after the Roman goddess of victory, but the name also honours Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom. The goddess Victoria (Nike for the Greeks) was the daughter of Styx by the Titan Pallas. The coincidence with the name of the then-reigning queen caused quite a controversy at the time, and B. A. Gould, editor of the prestigious Astronomical Journal, adopted the alternate name Clio (now used by 84 Klio), proposed by the discoverer. However, W. C. Bond, of the Harvard College Observatory, then the highest authority on astronomy in America, held that the mythological condition was fulfilled and the name therefore acceptable, and his opinion eventually prevailed. Radar and speckle interferometry observations show that the shape of Victoria is elongated, and it is suspected to be a binary asteroid. I allways tried to find information about this asteroid but I couldnt find it, and was strange because was one of the first asteroids discovered. Victoria was discovered on the 2º of Aries, with Saturn on the 19º of Aries and Pluto and Uranus on the 29º of Aries in conjuction! For me Victoria is a female part of Aries and I think where Victoria is located, by sign and house, indicates where we feel victorius and doubtfulless about our capacities, we are so sure about it, that we dont know that we have it. Some meanings about Victoria can be, capacity of overcome difficulties, enthusiasm to win, no doubt, decision, capacity to mantain a vision, capacity to know what is lose or win. Is a strage coincidence but when Im writting this Victoria is in Aries. Regards IP: Logged |

hey mhax, that really trips me out. my vicoria asteroid is in pisces, exactly opposed my saturn and conjunct my SN by 6 degrees. i have a very strongly neptune oriented chart and have had a lot of piscean people in my life. you know what? above all else, it really does seem that i am *confident* in the pisces vibe, completely. even though that sounds like a paradox (being so elusive and all)! it really rings true for me. thanks for the info!
