I'd like to thank the person who explained it yesterday, that's how I know what happened.

Early Sunday morning I was trying to sign into Astro.com and it looked very strange graphically and was having a difficult time coming through clearly. The normal sign in graphics weren't working, so another strange looking box popped up asking for my sign in name and password. It didn't work with the 1st account, so I tried another account that I have. It worked after I fiddled around with it a few times.

Well, they must have gotten information off of my hard drive because I received an email at one of my email accounts asking me to confirm my PayPal account information. I DON'T HAVE PAYPAL WITH THAT E-MAIL ADDRESS!!

Somehow, they figured out that I just got a PayPal account very recently and found that email address.

So I just wanted to warn everyone here that if they have a very strange experience with Astro.com, sign out of your internet, shut down your computer and if you can, do a clean up of your hard drive. Especially if you do any banking on your computer, which gratefully I don't.

Everyone here be safe, God bless you and your computers.

Who would have thought they'd get me through a reputable astrology site? But they almost did.

I don't do any online banking, i don't even shop anything online.
No sweets for them, i guess.
I just changed my passwords [that might a tad useless].
I don't wanna do anything to my hard-drive though
*shrugs*

Hi Greenfairy,

There's probably no need to make any changes unless you've had the experience I did. You would definitely have noticed a big difference.

When the site came up it looked as if they temporarily went to a very old format with archaic graphics from the past. It just didn't look right.

I didn't think about it very hard because it was the middle of the night, I was sleepy and I was taking pain medication so I was the most unsafe part of the equation at that point.

Maybe the lesson is "Don't Surf Sleepy while doing drugs" LOL!! You're probably alright.

Thank God they only managed to get your email, image what would happen when they use that password of your's? Good luck! Being a software guy, I suspect anything that is not normal.

Thanks for the info, although they can go into my bank account right now , they'll see I am so poor that they will probably add money to it LOL

ok, no kidding aside, thanks I was just there creating two new charts and didn't get that , thank goodness.

But, I'll watch for it.
Weird part is that when I saved the pictures to my computer I couldn't upload them to photobucket like I usually do, so I had to use a direct link and do it that way.
I wonder why.

Hi NAM,

I wonder if Astro.com had any problems lately that they are trying to fix. I'm not that savvy about virus' and trojans and all those things, but I know I have tried to get into their site from time to time when they were updating or doing maintenance and I couldn't get in, but I don't know why you couldn't upload your files to photobucket. Maybe if you try later or something.

Well, I usually save them on my PC then I upload them to photobucket, I never had trouble with it but today photobucket gave me an error, it said it was not an gif file, which it is not, but again, it was never a probem before, so I just took the url address and uploaded anyway, no biggi, I already accomplish what I wanted to do but I thought it was odd.

I hope you are having a wonderful day Geo, you never answer me the question about your style of music

I just bumped Green Fairy's original post about the Phishing scam so people can get an idea of what it might look like when they try to sign into a trusted website that is set up to Phish for your information and there are two links within the thread so you can read about Phishing at Wikipedia.org

Hi NAM,

I'll write you back and let you know what style.

Actually one of the owners posted an apology about that weird message. It was nothing untoward at all and any weirdness happening since is purely coincidental.

In the forum there is a feedback area and it is explained by Alois under the thread 'log-in problems'.

I'm surprised also, i whould expect an online banking account, but an astrology site, never.

I think thats a little extreme to clean your hardrive, I whould just delete the cache.
