I just finished reading another thread and realized that many people who love astrology have the same hang-ups as many organized religious people. Could it be that Sun signs do not tell the whole picture. Well, maybe! We are made up of ten planets, some of which contradict other parts of our psyche and way of doing things. I know that this is a hard concept to stomach, but what looks like a W to you may look like an M to me. I have never met an absolute that did not fall apart under more scientific experiments. At least, when we're talking about humans and how they act. Anyways, I just thought I would start a topic about my thoughts, and I hope others will put their thoughts out here, also. IP: Logged |

I realize I made some grammatical errors above. Not to mention, we are made up of 8 planets, 2 luminaries, many asteroids, the Ascendant and the other 3 Cardinal points in the Natal chart. Plus, the North and South Node, the Part of Fortune and a whole lot of other Arabic parts if we want to get complex. Then, there is the business of where the planets/luminaries/asteroids are located at in the natal map and what relations they have between each other. The possibility opens up for 12 people of the same Sun sign to be all different in the way they think and act.IP: Logged |

Amen, Sister! Although, maybe once some people have "absorbed" the sun sign stuff, they'll realize there's more and move on and grow. For others the buck may stop there. You can apply this to religion or any aspect in life. 8th IP: Logged |

Yeah, the sun signs tell only part of the story. The Planets & aspects is where the action is.IP: Logged |

Yes, but it's a starter point for first meeting, and it's a heck of a lot easier to guess sun sign than anything else when you know nothing more about someone and have no specific birth info. IP: Logged |

Solo_Fish ~ 8th ~ Yes, there ARE generalized traits and characteristics of each zodiac sign (or else none of us would be at this forum ). But there are so MANY wild cards that *can* MODIFY those generalizations as to render the sign attributes almost indistinguishable. Nurture/personal experiences can trump, elevate or twist ANY generalized zodiacal qualities. From Liz Greene: "The essence of human interchange is like the essence of the person, and the essence of the person is not in the horoscope. I don't think we will ever find it in the horoscope. Bear in mind the fact that the chart you have in front of you could easily be that of a chicken, or of the opera society, for there is nothing in the chart that demonstates that it's human. But something works thru it which is uniquely the individual soul or individuality of the person." Neat tidy little boxes, with labels on the top to slot human spirits into, LIMIT us!! IP: Logged |

There is much truth in the horoscope. It cheapens the human uniqueness by generalizing according to one part of a complex and intricate whole. When I meet someone I am good at guessing the energy of that person, but it is usually not their Sun sign that I get right. These people many times have no knowledge of astrology and so think I'm way off, but the Ascendant or the Moon sign is very significant and takes a deeper level of knowledge to understand the truth inherent in the birth chart. But, even if I get all three of those wrong, which doesn't happen much, there are other energies in someone's psyche/personality that they are resonating with at that moment. Hence, snap judgements about someone's Sun sign can be totally wrong or confusing. Anyways, I like these statements! Great topic I thinkIP: Logged |

great topic. i always believe that sun moon and asc are so important and always felt by us...at least in my case. especially the moon. i love my moon, AQUA. but having it square my sun...its exhausting really. sometimes i feel though that my moon sign isn't all of me, like the part of me thats negative. but maybe since my MC is conjunct my Sun maybe I am more my Sun usually?? even though i love what AQUA stands for it makes me very distant from human contact and quiet cold. and i cannot keep friends long...i get bored and i want to find a new crowd. but being a scorp, thats not cool;-(IP: Logged |

I know what you mean. My Moon is Aquarius also and it is square my Uranus in Scorpio. Uranus is Trine Sun in Pisces. I have a big focus on 5th and 7th house when I include asteroids also. I have a hard time being vulnerable enough to have intimate connections most of the time, or else I commit too easily. Either way, it is hard to connect with anyone on anything other than superficial levels.IP: Logged | |
