I have a capricorn coworker that has been training me for the past two months and has been driving me insanE!! He thinks he is the most intelligent person alive, he see's everybody else as stupid and has made a few racist and sexist remarks to me which got me really mad and I snapped at him.

Once I snapped at him he just turned red and didn't say a word for the rest of the day.

I have known several capricorns in my life before but I have really enjoyed their company, they have given me great advice, but this guy is too much!

Is it a capricorn thing to be racist or sexist? or is that just a environmental thing?

Careful now.

I vote it is just him, because he is an ****hole.

Maybe some birth details might help give us an astro-clue on the best way to deal with this difficult co-worker.

I like your tactics so far, but that doesn't mean they are the most effective ones.

Individual.

Some of the most open minded people I have known are Capricorns.

Uh, I'm a Capricorn and I'm not like that...I am pretty open-minded. Not good to generalize based on sun sign alone.

If someone is a racist or sexist, I'd look at their Mercury and Uranus. You probably don't have access to his birthdate, though. I'm a bit surprised someone with a prominent Cap placement isn't more concerned with their reputation and business decorum... But, like others have said, that isn't truly something that can be ascribed to sun sign alone anyways.

Is this someone you will be dealing with frequently, or once he finishes training you will you be free of him? If he says something bad again, maybe you can tell him, "Look, I don't appreciate what you said and I disagree with racism (or sexism). Please keep your personal views to yourself and let's get this work done professionally." However you want to phrase it so it gets the point across and stops him without you snapping. If he doesn't get it, your HR department should be able to help (or a supervisor for you both). However you decide to handle it, good luck!

Thanks everyone! I DO NOT THINK that based on his sign he is the way he is. I am a little surprised that a capricorn would be that way. Most of the capricorns I know are the most respectful people I have ever met.

I just think that he feels like he is better than anybody else. The only reason I snapped at him was because he said that women that come from where I come from are stupid. That was both racist and sexist. I did report him to the HR department and they had a talk with him. He told them that he meant it as a joke and he didn't think I was taking it personal.

Hr said they are still looking into the matter.

Luckily for me tomorrow is the last day I will be dealing with him

When I meant snapped, I don't mean I said anything disrespectful. What I said to him was " Please do not disrespect me, I know you think you are better than everybody else but I do not appreciate what you said and lets hope this is the last time you make a comment like that!"

I did say it in a very angry tone and I don't think I did or said anything wrong. I have the right to let others know that they have to respect me becuase I have never disrespecting him in any way.

He got mad because I told him to respect me! I think that was very unprofessional.

I think he has mercury in Aquarius.

No, it's not a Capricorn "thing" to be racist, sexist, blah blah blah...these are results of poor upbringing by ignorant guardians and a skewed view of society and human nature.

Racism and sexism is not an innate quality that a human being can have, in my opinion, so astrology isn't going to point those things out. I'm a Cap, my sis is a Cap, my aunt, a best friend, and several other acquaintances....and none of them are racist or sexist, at least not outwardly.

Racism isn't from astrology or anything else- it's the bad education children get from their parents and relatives at home. Unfortunately, unless these children undo the unhealthy upbringing, they will have these racist concepts throughout their life. Just like James watson, the DNA dude, who turned out to have 16% black genes. I just luv karma, slaps u right in the face and wipes the floor with ur dignity

Alma, it sounds like you handled things very graciously. I was worried that "snapped" might mean angry comments that would get you into trouble you didn't deserve, but what you said was professional and good-mannered. I'm glad HR is looking into him, because I suspect that by the time a bully reaches a particular person they have already bullied who knows how many others. Hopefully you taking a stand will prevent him from being a sexist, racist idiot to others in the future. Brava!

I'm just throwing this out there...I obviously don't know all the details. But...

is it possible that he really was just trying to be funny? It almost sounds like a reverse compliment. For example: "Gee, women from Generic Town are usually stupid" meaning, you are the exception... know what I mean?

My Virgo brother's endearment for me is "Ugly" and I call him "Loser"...what we mean when we say these things is that we think it's so NOT true and that's why we say it. That's the joke...get it?

It's just food for thought. It's awkward being new at a job and Capricorns aren't always known for handling awkwardness well. I've said a few things I meant as jokes that came out ALL wrong...maybe it was my mercury in Sag. Btw...I thought people from the bottom of the ocean WERE kinda stupid! Just kidding!

EDIT: Oops! I just saw that HE'S training you, not the other way around. Still, awkward is awkward, I suppose!
