I have heard a lot of astrology texts/sites say that Neptune in the 5th or the ruler of the 5th in the 12th points to having love affairs that tend to remain secret for some reason. My 5th house ruler is Mars in Scorpio conjunct Pluto in the 12th...and I have heard that this may predispose me toward all kinds of "taboo" involvements...  . Now, I like to keep my personal business private, but I haven't quite experienced anything of that nature yet. So, this brings me to a question- in your experience, what aspects relate to "secretive" or "forbidden" love affairs? Hey, a girl can be curious.

I've had a couple secret love affairs. One, in high school, that I kept secret from my family during the first year of the relationship (it lasted 1.5 years) and my current one which we kept private for the first few months.I don't have Neptune in the 5th, but Neptune is the ruler of my 5th house. Maybe Aries on your 5th outweighs its ruler in the 12th, since Aries would bring such a direct and straight-forward approach to love affairs. I think people with a love nature that holds a lot of Scorpio, Cap, and/or Pisces energy would be inclined to secret affairs. IP: Logged |

I'd have to look at what house Neptune ruled in a natal chart (as well as where it fit into the chart as a whole) to determine whether it could signify secret affairs. Without knowning house rulership or other elements in a natal chart, the first things I think of when I think "Neptune in the 12th" are actually "alcoholism/drug addiction," and "long-term karmically motivated struggle for spiritual enlightenment."A predisposition for clandestine affairs is more strongly indicated by Venus in the 12th to me (especially in synastry). And Neptune in the 5th or ruling the 5th can suggest lots of other issues besides "secret affairs." In my chart, Neptune rules the 5th, which represents my father, who is a solar Pisces and a chronic substance abuser. I've also read that Neptune in and ruling the 5th can indicate elements of secrecy or secrets shrouding one's family of origin (or early family life). My father's drinking problem was a family secret for a long time. One astrologer I know once mentioned that she often sees Neptune in the 5th in the charts of adopted children who can't or don't meet their biological parents (or meet them only later in life). (For the official record, I've never had a secret affair—or any other kind, despite my natal Neptune placement.) ------------------

I knew people who had affairs with attached people...they usually had Venus aspecting Neptune, Venus square/opposite Mars, or Venus aspecting Pluto...negatively usually. Neptune in the 7th/5th...Pisces 7th house.Scorpio 7th house....Pluto 7th/5th(nothing more secretive than Pluto)...but sometimes its not in a natal and it can show up in a composite/or synastry.
Just because someone has Venus in the 12th doesnt mean theyre going to have secret affairs, I knew someone who had this and Neptune in the 7th, and he was a faithful most loyal guy I ever came across. It could just mean you attract people who hurt you, or decieve you in relationships.

Well, respectfully, I posted that a natal Venus in the 12th is "more strongly" indicative of a tendency toward clandestine affairs than Neptune in the 12th is. Maybe I should have clarified that, of course, it's also suggestive of other behaviors/personality traits that have nothing to do with infidelity or private entanglements. It depends on all kinds of other factors, particularly the chart as a whole.IP: Logged |

I didn't mean Neptune in the 12th. What I meant was Neptune in the 5th or the RULER of the 5th, maybe 7th, in the 12th house (because the 12th house rules "hidden" things). Sorry if I caused any confusion. I also suppose that Venus/Mars should be involved in the configuration with Neptune/Pluto, probably in a square, opposition, or quincunx. I was just curious as to what others have seen most commonly, and also if there might be another interpretation for a 12th house Mars/Pluto (in Scorpio) with Mars being ruler of the 5th. For the record, I also have a Moon/Pluto square (Cancer is the sign intercepted in the 8th) and a Mars/Jupiter inconjunct(Jupiter in Aries in the 5th). Also, I've just become curious about these natal placements lately because my transits, solar return, etc. for this coming year tend to reinforce those theme. Uranus and Jupiter will be transiting my 12th house Mars and Pluto will transit my Sun/Mercury conjunction briefly before it goes retrogade again. FINALLY  , Neptune lies in the 5th for my solar return this year (rules the 7th in the return also) and squares a Scorpio Venus exactly. This has made me a bit more curious as to what my natal chart implies. I'd really appreciate it if someone could reassure me that this is not as bad as it sounds! Just wanted to add that I have Venus in H12, and I always get into affairs I have to keep secret, not WANT to keep secret. It's just that I always fall for guys I should not fall for, and if something happens between us no one can know, because of circumstances.
If that's not cookbook Venus in H12, I don't know..
Maybe this is not relevant in this thread, but what the heck ------------------

Umm... I don't want to hijack someones thread, but I'm sooo curious about what else wild sheep has to say about Venus in H12.. As far as I understood, wild sheep thought that the energies of Venus H12 and Neptune H12 was interchangeable, similar or confused with each other...? I must admit that I also have most often come across clandestine/secret affairs being attributed to Venus in H12 than anything else..

I have neptune in the 5th (ruler is jupiter in first) and I had two secret affairs. One was a secret because he was my second cousin (my dad's cousin's son), I'm not sure if that's the right term, but it wasn't very important and it didn't last a long time. The second one was with one of my cousin's best friends. It was a secret because he wanted it to be one. Later I understood he didn't want my cousin to find out, because he treated me so badly.
I always seem to fall for guys who have broken up with a girlfriend, but are stilled attached somehow and this is always a problem.
In my family there have been secrets, and my dad cheated a lot on my mom and ended up leaving her for another woman.
By the way, my neptune is opposite my venus. I hope all this doesn't mean my whole life my love life will be pathetic and I'm going to get cheated on.
Also, with neptune in the 5th oppo. venus I tend to idealize my lover and I have lots of illusions and desillusions regarding love.IP: Logged |

No, wild sheep is more likely to think "potential for secret affairs" when looking at Venus in the 12th than when looking at Neptune in the 12th.wild sheep has also seen composite Venus in H12 in every single composite chart she has done for a couple who admitted to hooking up via a secret affair. This is not necessarily significant of anything other than that she has done many composite charts for people who have gotten together via infidelity of some kind.
