I did. Thankfully, only once. Most of the astrologers I've shared my data with have been respectful, incisive and professional.

But then...there's this one lady. She was one of the first people to whom I showed my chart after I began learning about my astrology.

Her analysis of my chart wasn't all bad, although it did include a number of questionable comments like, "You would make a great criminal, so don't go there," and "You will never make enough money to be happy financially." And now, whenever we "run into" each other on the websites we frequent...

I swear to God, this woman thinks she walks on water (thinks she's the greatest psychic ever and that her visions alone represent the single valid version of "the truth"). She also feels entitled to make references to my chart data, most of which involve the most simplistic stereotypes about my Sun, Rising and moon sign ever. Like a few months ago when I posted about a new whitening toothpaste I liked and she responded with, "From a company in which you obviously own stock" (get it—Taurus only cares about money!!!).

Anyone else here had a questionable experience with an astrologer?

Can't say that I have, not yet.

The criminal comment, I don't know, either she needs to rethink ethical considerations and work on her interpretative skills or maybe both. Or is she is trying to goad you for some reason?

It's sad, but this happens sometimes when you open up and trust people.

I'd ask her if she thinks it's wise to make snide comments towards a person she believes to be a great criminal in the making.

*snorts* that would be a great response. I would pay to see the look on her face.

Does she have some personal issues that are affecting her objectivity?

The dig about the toothpaste shares, then saying you will never have any money - odd.

Actually, I have this sinking suspicion that she has a bias against those of the Taurus Sun, Cap Moon, Scorpio Rising personality. (A lot of people hate that particular astro profile, maybe because Hitler had it.)

I doubt he was the only one with that combo during the course of history, just the most noted.

It hardly means that you are at risk of setting yourself up as a mass-murdering megolamaniac.

Doesn't Queen Elizabeth have the same birthday? She sticks to corgis, handbags and Royal banquets, she's quite civilised overall.

QEII's birthday is April 21, 1926. Astrodatabank lists her as a Taurus Sun, Cap Rising, Leo Moon.
http://www.astrodatabank.com/NM/QueenElizabethII.htm

And I have, at times, been irritated by the people who've looked at my chart and said, "Wow, reminds me of Hitler's" or something similar, because, of course, as you point out, he's hardly the only person with that Sun/Rising/Moon combo. And it's possible that Mean Lady has some other (purely) personal problem with me, I don't know. I got the impression she just didn't like my chart, and is kind of a jackass (she also told me that if I didn't get my novel published by January of '06, I wouldn't, which—ACK. Jerk).

Every astrologer should have a bias based on their experience. Even Linda's books show bias in some areas. She loves Water and thinks Water is the strongest (Mind you, I am a Water). Liz Greene loves Air People and says that Air people have strongest ethical standards. In her book somehow she only talks about only Air + Water and Fire + Earth relationships. Why not talk about Air+Fire or Water+Earth?

I always ask for Sun, Moon and Rising to any astrologer before they begin their session. This helps you understand how they project their energies and how do they see the world.

E.g. One astrologer told me that Because I am 80% Water in my chart, I need lots of earth to ground me. Well, the woman was heavily Earthy. I agree with her statement but I also know that with another Water - I will go deep inside the ocean - and almost live on the Ocean floor with Cancer or Pisces - Yes, I agree hurricanes will come too. But, how would someone know unless they have experienced or seen this or has an ability to comprehend. (Just like how it has been hard for me to comprehend, Libra, Gemini or Aquarius relationships)

BTW, if the astrologer has Gemini, Libra, Cancer or Pisces influences, I will only go in to discuss and not to get a direction. They believe in free will and - will NOT stop you.

My experience is that Taurus, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Aquarius and Sagittarius are kind of hard and stick to their opinions.

Leos are wonderful astrologers. They will almost give you readings for Free. And they are generous. But they might get optimistic as soon as you share some positive experiences or flatter them a bit ;-).

How can Aries be astrologers? They will have five working under them. But well, Linda is an amazing Exception! I think lots of Optimism will show up and quick impulsive solutions will come up during the readings. They will almost feel excited about Square relationships because there is a lot of Fire.

In My Opinion (NOT experience), Aquarius, Scorpio and Sagittarius should be good astrologers as they don't believe in what you say but they will go inside the chart to find out WHO And WHAT you are. Thus far, I have always enjoyed sessions with Sagittarius as they are the best straight shooters and will warn you right away. They are also good teachers and have an ability to stay on top of you.

mblover (Six times scorpio in the fifth house, Cancer Rising, Did you observe my bias :-)?)

Some astrologers and psychics fall victim to inflated ego disease. they are only people with bias and some of them have a God Complex. just look at Sylvia Browne

Sylvia Browne is a charlatan!
I've been guilty of making rash comments in response to info about someone's chart.
Someone once shared that she has Venus in Pisces--I make some verbal connection between that placement & prostitution!!!<---SO RUDE!!!!

I agree! The prices she charges i think it is $800 a reading. Also the way she gives some people the most gruesome information with that constipated look on her face really turns me off of her.

wildsheep, I am sorry you had this bad experience with an astrologer. She sounds tactless and rude. And a little obsessed with you.

Did you find out her astrological info? She probably has Pluto or Saturn squaring some personal planets of yours. If that's the case, just avoid her or ignore her as much as possible.

Sylvia Browne

October 19, 1936

If you look at her chart

She has Moon in Sagittarius in 10th square the opposition of Saturn in Pisces in 1st and Neptune in Virgo in 7th

In her case, that can indicate philosophical, religious, spiritual, mystical, psychic ability....ultrasensitivity at the least
but it can be confusion,deception,illusion,preachy,santimonious,
hypocrite

She has Uranus in 3rd square Aquarius Ascendant, and so she's unconventional, rebellious and communicate in "off the wall" ways

I don't think that she's for real. She seems like a cold reader. In some of her books, I think she makes up stuff....like different races on our planet coming from different star systems. She has been shown to plagiarize.

When i first heard some of her readings back in the early 90s on Montel she seemed really accurate. But this is only my opinion i think when psychics get greedy their gift is taken away from them

Also she has a low opinion of astrology. She even said she really dosen't believe in it. I find that amusing she believes she can talk to the dead and see the other side and the future and that there is life on other planets. but astrology is to far fetched for her. LOL

She wrote an Astrology book, and it's not good. It's B.S. to me. I read some of it.

A lot of psychics dislike Astrology. I think Lisa Williams made a negative comment on astrology once.....makes me automatically feel/think it makes them nervous because it might make them look bad in some way.

I have considered that what I (later) found out about her astrology could be a factor in her irrational dislike for me. Triple Virgo. Contrary to popular belief, not all Taureans can get along with Virgos; Virgo energy rubs me in particular the wrong way.

I'd never considered getting an astrologer's sign before asking for a reading, which is strange (so unlike me; I'm allll about compatibility). If I'm ever on the hunt for another pro's perspective on my chart, maybe I will.

ETA: I used to like Sylvia Brown, athough I think she has let her ego (and her mental health issues) get in the way of her accuracy. That being said, if I had $1400 to burn, (last I heard, her fees were up to $700 for a half-hour session) I might go talk to her, just on the off chance she might have something interesting to say. And don't even get me started on Lisa Williams—she sends my "charlatan" antennae way up.
