Lovely aspect to have, no?
Let's say someone has this contact, but it's a wide orb of a little over 8 degrees.
Astrologers say this aspect wouldn't count, but let's say you have both planets contacting your ascendant (positively).
Would you be able to snatch it up again for its real worth?

I would say "yes" to your question.An 8 degree orb can be considered. Also I guess in case of certain individuals they feel the energies even with a wide orb (depending on other factors and aspets in their chart).

p.s. venus conjunct neptune sure is a lovely aspect. I have that too in my 8th house with Venus being my chart ruler
