I´ve been thinking of all those “heros”– those real life Indiana Jones-types that seem to have what it takes to survive miserable events in their lives and come out to not only be stronger but even inspire others – what in a natal chart makes them who they are? What gives a human being such a strong positive outlook and strength that they cope better than others?

One who comes to mind is Viktor E. Frankl. An austrian professor of Neurology and Psychiatry who survived the Nazi concentration camps and came up with logotherapy (therapy of positive thinking) during those miserable years in the concentration camps.

I don´t think any book can be more inspiring than his book Man´s Search for meaning. A story about his life in the concentration camp and how he survived through the way he was thinking. I´m a huge fan of his and I have found strenght in this book no matter what I´ve been going through in life – ups and downs!

I´ve been trying to find out his exact birthtime or to find his natal birth chart, but never succeded in finding it. Could anyone of you please help me? I´m not very experienced when it comes to rectification of a chart. But I would be very greatful if anyone would take the time to help me out on this one. Or… if you have it already – please share it!

I have picked out a few “milestones” in his life further down and added some links for further info.

Here are some of his inspiring quotes. ;-)… feel his words!

"Live as if you were living a second time, and as though you had acted wrongly the first time."

"What is to give light must endure burning."

"For the meaning of life differs from man to man, from day to day and from hour to hour. What matters, therefore, is not the meaning of life in general but rather the specific meaning of a person's life at a given moment."

"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom."

"When we are no longer able to change a situation - we are challenged to change ourselves".

The milestones…
* Born 26th of March 1905 Vienna, Austria
*1942 married his first wife – 25 of September 1942 he, his wife and his parents were deported to Therestenstadt camp near Prag.
* 1942-45 Auschwitz in Poland
* On April 27 1945, Frankl was liberated by the Americans. The only survivor was his sister.
* 1945 he wrote his book “Man´s search for meaning”
* In 1946 he was appointed to run the Vienna Poliklinik of Neurology. He remained there until 1971.
* 1947 – married his 2nd wife
* In 1955 he was awarded a professorship of Neurology and psychiatry at the University of Vienna and as a visiting professor resided at Harvard University.
* Died 2nd of September 1997, Vienna, Austria (heart failure)

His hobbies included mountain climbing, and at 67 he obtained his pilot’s license. Frankl holds the Solo Flight Certificate and the Mountain Guide badge of the Alpine Club “Donauland”. Three difficult climbing trails (on the Rax and Peilstein Mountains) were named after him. His less serious interest was his love for ties; he would admire them through a shop window.

Logotherapy - I remember reading one of his books but it would have been over 20 years ago. It was off the library van that stopped off at our hole-in-the-hedge, so it was quite by chance. I could still quote parts of it though, so it made quite an impression.

Finding his time of birth might be a struggle but I'll have a look. The noon time chart is interesting even without:

A very interesting post this is, Sky, thank you. I cannot say much as I am still new, after several years, to astrology, but wanted to say this is interesting.

Hello Skybound_Pisces,

As soon as you mentioned Indian Jones-type, it made me think of courage, strength and adventure which made me think of Saturn for the courage and strength, Jupiter and Uranus for adventure. I also thought of Mars with Saturn for precise actions or movement. Saturn also rules focus.

Then you mentioned that mountain climbing was his hobby and I immediately said to myself that he's got to have a Mars-Saturn aspect.

Then I looked at chart and what do we see:

Mars square Saturn = BINGO!!

Then we see and exact trine of Jupiter-Uranus = BINGO!!

Jupiter-Uranus aspects tend to bestow surprising good luck on people.

As for his positive outlook in life, even after such a horrific event, I'm going to point out the Moon-Mercury trine in addition to the Jupiter-Uranus trine.

Moon in Sagittarius could be bringing the positive energies related to Jupiter as well as the spiritual and philosophical energies to his lightening fast Mercury in Aries. This a man who's thoughts really travel.

Pluto in Gemini also exactly sextiles his Mercury adding extra cerebral strenght from Gemini and Pluto also opposes that Moon magnifying the Moon's positive emotionalism.

I'm not a beginner at rectification, but I'm not quite intermediate either, so it would take me a while to really assimilate the facts of his life and try the rectification.

The one thing that sticks out for me is his Marriage happening the same year that he and his wife were captured. Life sometimes has strange double whammy events that are connected sometimes. A good example is in Bill Cosby's life. The same day his son Ennis Cosby died was also the same day that his estranged (secret) daughter was caught trying to blackmail him for money. The two stories were so mixed up in the media that many people almost thought that his estranged daughter was somehow mixed up in the murder, but they were truly two very separate negative events concerning his children.

I'm guilty of not remembering what occurred in Bill Cosby's chart that day, but I'll take a look and I think I want to check out this book as well.

Woaw! - Thank you so much everybody - you´re all great! I really appreciate any efforts in helping me, since I don´t know how to… but hey… don´t lose any sleep over it ;-)

I wish I could give you all a copy of the book… I do have plenty here . I give them to people I meet who I feel are in need of a one, since I know how much strenght it has given me – it makes me happy to read it when I´m down and it keeps my grounded when I´m on a high .

One friend had lost his sister in a car accident – I couldn´t find the right words to say, everything seemed so insignificant no matter how hard I tried, but I gave him a copy of the book and he told me afterwards that it had helped him in the grieving process – it didn´t take away the pain nor filled the emptyness, but he found support in thinking in a different way.

Another close friend had a depression and went to therapy – I gave her a copy too – she said to me that the book was all she needed – she didn´t feel “cured” but at least she started thinking differently – and sometimes that is all it takes.

I love the Franklian philosophy: Life does not owe you happiness, it offers you meaning.

If we can make Frank´s natal chart - I´ll frame it and put it on the living room wall

Hi Geocosmic Valentine!

Then you mentioned that mountain climbing was his hobby and I immediately said to myself that he's got to have a Mars-Saturn aspect.

My ex-boyfriend was a mountain climber and he also has a Mars-Saturn aspect

I´ve printed out your post - very interesting! Thanks a million!

I found a clue in one of his books...

“I almost was born in the famous Siller coffee house in Vienna, there my mother felt the first labour pains, on the beautiful spring afternoon of March 26 in 1905. My birthday coincides with the day Bethoven died. On this point a schoolmate once commented mischievously: “One mishap comes seldom alone”.

So… maybe 15.00? Victor a Virgo Rising… or?

Good work!

I have taken an assumed time for the chart of my mother and best friend, based on family anecdotes. It gives a narrower margin when looking a the Moon and houses that is very helpful.

Yes, that is a great clue, so it eliminates all of the morning hours, so definitely some time after 12:00 Noon. However, women can be in labor for a very long time, especially if those were his mother's first labor pains in the early afternoon.

But it is still very helpful to eliminate the first half of the day.

Also, what does he look like? Does he have any moles on his face, does he have a widows peak in his hair. If he went bald later in life, what did he look like when he was younger? Was he tall? Short? That can give a lot of clues as to what planets were near his ASC or MC. Did he have thin or thick hair? Was his hair wild? I often find Aquarians with interesting hair that stands out or hair that drew peoples attention like Yoko Ono, Peter Gabriel (in his Genesis days), Oprah Winfrey (at least to women in the black community).

Anyway, appearance can help when rectifying. Sometimes people with very thick hair have Scorpio rising.
