From CafeAstrology:

"Saturn conjunct the Nodes can be a separative aspect. I am not as yet certain of exactly why this is the case, but I have seen it time and time again where Saturn conjunct the North or South Node in a composite chart or in synastry is present in romantic relationships that don't get off the ground properly."

Has anyone experienced this? What does "don't get off the ground properly" refer to?

Yeah, interesting one, that.

Wonder what examples she had? What reasons were behind it?

I think it's got to do with Saturn inhibiting the direction of the NN. It's like a blockade preventing things from happening. So, I guess as an example, it could refer to a situation where everything seems right as rain on paper between two people, but for some reason or another it just never goes anywhere. It never really gets started, but perhaps neither person would ever be quite sure why.

Or a relationship that starts off great but then just fizzles out.

I know three couples that have been married for 20 years plus & some other celebrities (long marriages) that have Saturn conjunct NN in synastry & composite. So I don't know why its so bad.
But I also don't know their whole love story. I just know they have been all together for ages.

Hi Sarai!

Hope all is awesome in your world!

I read your post then thought of someone that things "couldn't get off the ground with" in my past. We both liked eachother...the attraction was there, friendship, all of the other astrological synastry was amazing, so this has always made me wonder. I just looked at our charts again and guess what aspect we have? His Saturn is conjunct my NN!

It seemed like we were never on the same page. He'd ask me to go somewhere when I already had plans. I'd invite him to go out with a group and he'd suggest we go out alone (and for some reason at that time, I did NOT want to do that...I felt too nervous around him to want to go out alone).

Then, months later, he asked me to go horseback riding with him and a group of friends...and stressed the word "group" and I said "Why don't we just go out to dinner?" He kinda gave up asking at that point!

Looking back now, the whole thing was pretty funny...and we're still friends, but we were truly never wanting the same thing at the same time the other did in terms of a relationship.

Although, if I had been studying astrology at that point, I wonder if I would have realized this and gone on that date anyway??? Maybe being aware of this can change how the relationship starts...or doesn't start!

I just remembered a movie I saw recently "Once." I bet they had the Saturn conjunct NN aspect.
