Traditionally, Mars was ruler of Scorpio as well as Aries. I know I'm not alone in thinking of Mars as being co-ruler of Scorpio. As Scorpio Rising I consider him as my chart ruler, along with Pluto. As Pluto has now been demoted to dwarf planet status it seems reasonable. Feel free to disagree.

As Mars was the Roman God of War that has made me wonder in the past of how this fitted in with the sign of Scorpio. Then the thought occured to me that it fitted quite well with the idea of Guerrilla warfare.

Traditional formation battles fit well with the directness of Aries. Waiting around in a hole for several days in order to sneak out and attack someone by surprise fits in quite well with Scorpio.

Maybe Scorpios lurking around Lindaland can tell me if they can relate to this image at all. My husband says I am more like Scorpio than my sun sign and that I "specialise in low blows". But he can be quite withering himself so don't go feeling sorry for him.

p.s

I had a great picture of Mars to go with this post but I am having problems loading it.

Perhaps I'm not a typical Scorp rising...being a Leo Sun, Leo Moon and Mars in Aries...but no one is going to get blindsided by me.

I much prefer they see it coming.

I don't place too much stock is downgrading Pluto. The energy is strong and very real. Strong enough and real enough for others to feel the effects when that energy is turned on them.

I too am a Scorpio rising and I feel like Pluto plays a much bigger role in my life than Mars.

But - I have Pluto in Scorpio conjunct my ASC, so that is probably why I feel it.

I have been influenced by Vedic Astrology that doesn't use the outer planets and so use classical rulerships.

I am also influenced by Stephen Arroyo who still uses the classical rulerships along with modern rulerships. That's approach with rulerships that I have been using.

my views about signs and houses are changing, and so my perceptions of the houses are becoming irrelevant.

I have Sun,Mercury, and Venus in Scorpio
as for the Mars stuff
I already have Moon conjunct Mars as well as Mercury-Venus square Mars.

I even have strong Mars influences through planetary nodes both geocentric and heliocentric

strong Mars influences through midpoints

I have Sun-Mars,Mars-Pluto golden aspects as golden section triangle, and so my Pluto squares my Sun/Mars midpoint

so I can only shrug

I am all Scorpio - six planets (Five inner planets and Uranus) in Scorpio in the Fifth house. I have been very close to observing both Pluto and Mars sides and I have to say that both are co-ruler of my chart.

Why Pluto?
As part of my full time job, I have transformed more than 10 organizations. As part of my part time job, I have transformed atleast 30 lives and expecting to open an Orphanage in future. I can't think of better inflence in transforming children's lives with all Fifth house influence. If by mistake, someone comes to me for a reading, that person leaves with much deeper insight of life. This type of deeper insights can't come from Mars - the planet of aggression. It has to be Pluto. Traditionally, Mars has no Depth.

Why Mars?
Well, strong WILL. Once I have decided what I want, there is nothing that can come on my way. It's almost as if I will totally change from a Plutonian person to an aggressive Mars person. Also, whenever it comes to Scorpion Retaliation or Protecting closed ones - I believe Mars becomes way too powerful. I hate it sometimes - but have to accept it.

Most amazing thing is I have NEVER EVER been like an Aries Mars. Every move has been carefully reviewed, planned and executed. No impulses. In my full time job, I just replaced an Aries manager probably because Scorpio's arrival means Aries death. He challanged me and pushed me quite a bit, but just about every move from my side was carefully planned and executed. He had to leave for another war somewhere else.

In my view - the difference between Aries Mars and Scorpio Mars:

Aries Mars is a true raw form of Mars that wants to WIN the war by any means with strong assertiveness and as soon as possible. By no means, I am saying it is bad to have an Aries Mars.. It's a lovely Open Book and Scorpio is a Closed Book.

Scorpio Mars is the 'strategic' side of Mars that wants to WIN the war by any means but with careful planning and execution. If it takes 10 years, then let it be 10 years but Scorpion Mars will not jump in unless he has a valid reason and plan to go for War.

I feel very lucky to have a Cancer Rising - because - I would be in trouble if I had a Scorpio or Aries rising. Well, Cancer Rising does make me highly Possessive but Protective as well ;-)

It was good, that one.

I can identify with both Pluto and Mars. Pluto overpowers my chart with its Conjunction to the Moon. Mars is heavily aspected including an inconjunct to Pluto/Moon and a Square to the Ascendant. Oh, I won't bore you will all the aspects Mars makes on my chart I'll be here all day, lol.

I have a bit of a temper. I work hard to keep a lid on it. But I think I do my own version of lurking in wait to give a direct attack, oh wait, that is - Ambush.
