Hi, I have heard that your rising sign changes when you move? If I was born at 10:16 am, in Los Angeles, CA, how would I calculate my Rising Sign for NY, NY?

11/29/84
10:16AM

Thanks

I know it does change...don't know if we physically change too. but i am moving soon abrodd and i will be a gemini rising;-) so cool! i think it takes a while to kick in i have been told. in the states I am scorpio rising and abroad where i will be i am a gemini. seems to fit me when i go there.
to calculate go to astro.com. go to extended chart selection. select Relocation Chart on the chart you want and change the reference place to NY.

Hey Artemisss

I think you do a relocation chart and change the reference place to NYC.

I did mine for NYC as l wanna move there and i'm a gemini rising too. It puts almost all my planets in 11th house

I didn't know this. So, does this mean that on astro.com for example, I choose the relocation chart and on my personal data I change my location to where I want to move?

But more than that, does the time of birth remain the same?

And... how would this change in chart affect a synastry chart that was done between two people who were once in different places, and are now in the same location?

I'm very confused.

I thought these things mattered for the moment you were born in and where the planets where at that particular instance, etc.

Not when you're 20 years old for example and move to a new city and now suddenly have some part of your personality changed?!?!

I'm sure, I'm misunderstanding something, so feel free to clarify things for an astrology newBie

It can change. If you do the relocation chart with the "relocation chart" option you have to change the "reference place" to where you will move, and then astro calculates the time. Otherwise, if you are moving to a different time zone you have to change the time accordingly.

The relocation chart is similar to astrocartography. When you move your planets can take on different powers because they can change houses. It's important to note which houses are on the angles.

okay wait wait wait.

so my relocation chart is more ME than my birthchart??

THAT would explain why i've identified with equal house system more than placidus!! because it puts everything in the houses that equal does, with the exception of my neptune and chiron!!!

that is incredible.

LadyNeptune - please bare with me here because this is a new concept for me.

I was born in South Africa, at 8:10am and I want to move to Los Angeles.

Los Angeles is 10 hours behind South Africa, so, on my birth data I would have to subtract 10 hours from 8:10am, and... change my location to Los Angeles?

So, instead of being born on 13/09/1982, at 8:10am, in Durban, South Africa, I would be born on the 13/09/1982, but at 22:10pm in Los Angeles?

hey unmoved! i dunno the answer, but if you go to astro.com, and select "relocation chart" (it's the very last one on the list of chart selections in the extended charts section), it will compute the chart automatically for you, once you select the city you've relocated to..
