I have a questions.I have noticed a discrepancy with regards to sun-sign definitions when reading available astro forums. A lot of them seem to point out that Aries is the beginning sun sign purely because the western calender was changed in order for the year to begin in the Summer from 21st March through to April after the long winter. However, the world still celebrates the beginning of the year as of January 1st(A Capricorn month)??? My question is, South Africans celebrate summer months in December through to March, whereas March is the begining of Autumn and winter starts off in June 21st. Does this affect the sun sign explanations at all as Aries-March,in my country (though warm lately)is NOT a summer period AND Capricorn-December,which to Americans is the coldest and most depressing (hence the Saturn affiliation),in South Africa December is by far the hottest month and truly the prime of the summer season? Could we,living on the southern border, have a completely diffrent chart than those living in the west? I mean the east has their own chart,is there one available for the south or are we just blindly following the philosophy of western horoscopes and taking them to be ours?

I have no ides... Hmmm... I think that with the astro programs it compensates for whatever part you are in the world, but... I don't know to be quite honest. added: and S.African winters aren't even that cold compared to other countries. IP: Logged |

Greetings from a fellow South African.I am not sure what you're getting at but I would think that sun sign descriptions would be the same, all over the world-it's descriptive of what a person's attributes is, according to their sign-whether you live in Alaska or New Zealand. IP: Logged |

The houses will be the opposite way around, won't they? Some of the sun sign imagery will be obsolete being based on seasonal observations, but some parts won't. Some would say we should all be one sign up anyway because of the equinoxes shifting. It doesn't bother me much but not everyone would agree with me. Some of the Scorpios would get upset, they seem very proud of their sign. The aspects will alter little and those are what I take notice of most. Just my view. IP: Logged |

Wow!!!I didn't know that there were so many of you here. Thanks for all the responses. I guess Unmoved has a point,astro.com must have taken these complex attachments when they invented the program. Its a pity though that I cant have a solid answer. IP: Logged |
