I dont even really see conjunctions in serious-long term relationships, very often. The most often theme is SQUARE/OPPOSITIONS. Its strange....are we all masochists or what?

Maybe.

But my theory is that this reflects how long term relationships are unlikely to keep going without work.

It is also realistic to expect to have to adapt to someone if you are going to live with them, and vice versa. Saturn has the reptuation of being controlling, but the same energy helps provide the checks and balances relationships need to function.

There are a lot of threads on LL about soul mates, twin flames, karmic relationships and love asteroids, but poor old Saturn has been quite neglected in comparison.

Speaking of nasty Mars/Saturn squares....

If the square is between two complementary planets, i.e. Scorpio Mars and Capricorn Saturn, wouldn't this take a lot of the sting out of the square?

Speaking of Saturn/Mars, and Saturn/Moon contacts, would it be "nasty" only with "hard" aspects between the planets, or with the "easy" ones too?

And would the conjunction be considered a hard or easy aspect?

It's such a coincidence, cause just yesterday I met a guy that I haven't seen for years. We had lunch, and it was a lot of fun. I checked our synastry, cause it's become a habit of mine to check the synastry between me and any new person I meet, male or female. haha.

It turns out in our synastry chart his moon conjuncts my Saturn.....AND....His Mars conjuncts my Saturn. All in Virgo. I've never met anyone who shared these aspects with me before. Then I check LL this morning and see this thread talking about saturn aspects. Particularly Saturn/moon and saturn/mars! What a great coincidence!

Saturn aspects in synastry whatever the angle can be good for structure, discipline, dealing with responsibilities/obligations(like having/raising children, paying the bills, doing chores,work),no-nonsense,practicalness,
grounding, patience, perseverance, ambition, maturity, and commitment,learn/grow and get better with time. Those things are very important in longterm relationship

Saturn aspects are common in couples that have a significant age difference too.

I have no problem with Saturn aspects. I like Saturn aspects in both synastry and composite.

After all, I am highly Saturnian
Retrograde Saturn in Gemini in 9th is the handle of a bucket chart, conjunct Midheaven, oppose Jupiter-Neptune,square Moon, quincunx Saturn, trine Pluto, contraparallel Mercury-Venus-Neptune

I have noticed the same thing in comparing charts. Saturns square and oppositions and LOTS of them seem to be with people in long term relationships. Maybe its the karma thing. In LOTS of long term relationships i see the mar/saturn square or opposition-so depending on the overall chart and disposition of those involved,...

You know, I was thinking of this myself and earlier on I mentioned saturn squares with mars and moon. I have a sneaking suspicion that these aspects occur a lot between parties in a long term relationship and generally the bad qualities of these aspects are exhibited with the relationship goes wrong.

For example:
* Mars-Sat square - basically can't stand each, what you found cute to start off with you find stifling/irresponsible/severe/non-responsive

* Moon-Sat squ - restriction of emotions on saturn's part, parties in inability to express emotions between themselves.

However, maybe the negative qualties of these aspects are overcome by balance between the parties through other synastry.
