I am in my mid-30s and have been in a new city for almost a year. But I am having a heck of a time making any friends. Which is odd cause I have a Gemini rising so I talk to lots of people. I have met two women online and once we have met in person, they are no where to be found again. The first one seemed to click with me but I never heard from her again. And yesterday I met another woman and we didn't seem to click so I don't expect to hear from her again. My sister says that it is a conservative city and that could be why...people don't want to venture out of their comfort zones. I am a single mom so tend to have my hands full, but can't seem to connect with any other single moms...and its not for not trying cause I have tried dozens of ways. I know Aquarians tend to be detached and I am very Aquarian...eccentric too. And with my Gemini rising I probably have a double whammy there. I enjoy signs alot which probably throws people off. But you would think I could at least make some friends to hang out with on the weekends or something.

So after my long post, are there any other Aquarius people that seem to have this problem also?

If you're "really" Aquarian then you might be "different"... Some people get scared off by "different" people...

Hard to say without seeing what's going on between you and these people...

I'm Aquarian and also "different" from the "average" appearance and behavior...

But, that's okay... The people that can't deal with you are not worth your time anyway... And the people that appreciate you for what you are are Special...

I just graduated college, and all of my friends that have moved away say they are having no luck making friends. They all call and ask for my advice but I have no good answer! People today are always on phones, ipods, computers, its impossible to make anything but superficial connections.
Is this your first move? How have you made friends in the past? When I first moved I didn't make any solid friends for over a year. I've always "stumbled" upon new friends. Have you tried joining some classes? Or maybe volunteering for some sort of event? I've made some friends while volunteering at a local art festival. I wish I had some kosher advice, but I think in time things will pick up!
(Aqua sun/aries rising/gemini moon by the way).

I'm an Aqua/Gem rising, as well, and I've always been shy and it's hard for me to really get out there and make friends. People usually have to approach me =/

Keep trying, it will happen. Most of the time, people's first concern is themselves. If they are also single moms, some days just getting basics done is an accomplishment (I was a single mom, my son is now 24)

Five years ago, I moved from the Bay Area, where I grew up to Portland. It was scary, yes and took awhile to meet anyone. Most of my friends are where I work, and those friendships developed mostly in the past year and a half or so. Outside of work? Not so many. I met a woman at school, but she ended up not really being a friend in the truest sense.

You might meet people where you work, or they might know someone. Do you belong to any churches? Groups? Any classes you can take?

I know what it's like, believe me. It;s the same everywhere. Unless it happens now or five minutes ago, people just don't have time for it. That's how fast-paced things have become.

Besides, most people won't go out of their comfort zones, as mentioned and will stay with their current friends and family. Unless they're also looking for friendship.

I'm a Sag sun/Aqua moon and I understand.

Thank you so much for all of your input. I agree that true friends would like my eccentricities. I have been joining classes (usually parenting) ever since I got here and have talked to people but not formed a real bond with anyone. I have some people that I consider friends at work. But they don't socialize out of work. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one having this problem. And thanks for the support.

I dont have a problem making friends, but I do find it a little more difficult to make true friends. Countless amounts of people who are there to go out with at nights, but anything more than that is a little harder.
I have no interest in finding new friends now as Im moving out of the area, so no good to me.

Obviously with the rise of the internet, many people just stay at home and communicate online, rather than in person. I dont really like that as you need to be around the person to fully get communication.

Have a look at your natal chart at the sign which rules your 11th house. If you are Gemini rising, it should be Aries there.
Its ruler is Mars, which means the best times to meet people like that are when Mars aspect either itself and/or aspects your 1st ruler, Mercury.

11th house is for friends and Aries would describe the type of friends you get.

Hi lkmarlow,

I doubt it's s.th. against you personally.

But I find that in your mid-30s most people who have been living in the same city for some time will have a circle of friends and might just be a bit less energetic about making new friends. And maybe PARTICULARLY those single mums. If they already have a set of friends, some of them might just be too tired to make a few more. Instead they might prefer to spend the bit of spare time they have with the friends they already have. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with you, I just find the older you get you might be less energetic to invest in new friendships.

So dont give up, I'm sure with time your aqua and gemini energy will find you some friends :-) !!!!
