I'm still a newbie at astrology. I've been trying to learn more about this natal chart but if the birth time is not accurate what can I learn from it? I know the Ascendant cannot be determined without an accurate birth time. Is there anything else I need to discount? What can i depend on here? IP: Logged |

I was wondering the same thing.I'm an astro-newbie pretty much and while my birthday is clear, my parents don't know the exact birth-time. They can give me a rough estimate (they say it was a bit before noon so leaving some room for error let's say anywhere between 10:30 am to 12:30 am) but that's about it. I really wish I knew the exact time so I could be 100% sure of my ascendant and all the other stuff such as houses which I think might get moved as well... IP: Logged |

without the time, anything that is affected by the time will change. it means the house cusps and any aspects to the ascendant and midheaven. occasionally planetary aspects will change based on time as well, if it is a quick aspect as with the moon, or if the birth date just happens to be right at the beginning or end of a major aspectIP: Logged |

You'll have to forget about looking at house placements without your birth time. Also, you can't work with the MC/IC and AC/DC axis. That leaves you with just planets in the signs. You will still be able to measure the synastry with someone else using their planets compared to your planets - so all is not lost. IP: Logged |

Hi Sagitaur,What you can delineate: Planets in signs, possibly not the Moon Aspects between planets, except the Moon Aspect patterns not involving the Moon and angles Moon's nodes in signs Moon's nodes in aspect to planets, except the Moon Qualities & Elements of planets, possibly not the Moon Dignities & Debilities of planets, possibily not the Moon Decanates Dwads Chiron in signs Chiron by aspect, except to the Moon Midpoints by approximation: between planets, except the Moon & planets and the Moon's nodes & planets and Chiron & Moon's nodes and Chiron Retrograde planets by sign Asteroids: such as Pallas, Ceres, Juno & Vesta by sign Asteroids in aspect to the planets, except the Moon Transits to natal planets, except the Moon Things you won't be able to delineate:
The angles: Ascendant (1st house cusp), Descendant (7th house cusp), Midheaven (10th house cusp) and IC (4th house cusp) Aspects involving the angles Planets, the moon's nodes, and points in houses House cusp rulerships, including the lords in the houses Overall chart pattern House types: Angular, Succedent & Cadent Quadrant and Hemisphere analysis Intercepted signs Duplicated signs Arabic parts: eg. The part of fortune The Vertex (Vx) Chiron in houses Midpoints: between planets and angles & planets and Vx & angles and Vx Retrograde planets by house Asteroids: such as Pallas, Ceres, Juno & Vesta by house Derivative houses A simple analogy: The planets are like actors, the houses are where they act, and the sign is how they act. The aspects show the interactions between the actors.

With a list of dates, you can find out your AC. Some good astrologers can even work out the exact degree of your AC. If you use whole sign houses, you just need which Ac sign and the rest of the houses are easy.IP: Logged |

Thanks Astroleolady...i really like your analogy."The planets are like actors, the houses are where they act, and the sign is how they act. The aspects show the interactions between the actors." Awesome! Thanks to everyone who replied. It's hard being a newbie and I must say to me learning astrology is like trying to learn how to do my own taxes...lol. It's tedious but I'm trying and sometimes i feel like i just don't get it...lol. I'm no dummy but this is just not my forte. I would probably do better in a classroom setting. I read this board everyday and just end up getting overwhelmed most of the time. I think i may be trying to learn too much too fast. The Sag in me just wants to know everything then my Cancer moon kicks in and gets overwhelmed and then i...retreat...*lowers head in shame*. I wish learning astrology could be like the movie...The Matrix...where I could just plug up and download everything I needed to know and poof...instant chart reading machine.
