Mars is in the 6th house, that is a good start. And it sextiles Venus, ruler of your M.C.

Where's Ceres on your chart?

Gemini Sun and Mercury so I reckon you will be O.K for the communicating part. Also multi-tasking, flexibility. Being sharp of wit isn't going to be wasted.

I note Mars is also in Gemini. Get in the right area of nursing and you could have a varied working environment that might suit you quite well.

Have you thought of being a children's nurse? That 5th house activity, in perky Gemini. Chiron there, too.

Thanks for replying!

I have Ceres in Gemini in the 6th house. Ceres sextiles Venus, conjuncts Mars, opposes Neptune and trines pluto.

Snap. I have Ceres CNJ Sun in Gemini the 8th. We aren't meant to be a nuturing sign but that is rubbish.

I'll hunt out some Ceres stuff.

Another thing we have in common is Moon/Saturn. I have the Trine, you have the Sextile.

One of my kids was very ill as a child. I spent a stop-over night on the burns unit in our local kids' hospital. Moon Trine Saturn and Gemini Sun might not make me the most emotional person on the planet but the ability to keep smiling and chatting under such circumstances came in handy. Well, the kids had to stick it out, one boy had been there two years.

http://members.wizzards.net/~magyan/aspects.htm

quote:

Mars conjunct Ceres
You are very protective of those you care for and may become defensive at the first hint of a threat. You will not hesitate to fight for your young, and can be a fierce opponent. Probably a head-strong, willful child, you are a strong parent, direct and independent, and you foster those qualities in your offspring. You believe in assertiveness, but may be somewhat too controlling or dominant in your parenting role. You are passionately protective of nature, and may be a warrior in the cause of ecology

Pluto trine or sextile Ceres
You know instinctively how to nurture and encourage self-empowerment and the ownership of deep transformative urges. You understand the cycles of loss and return, and you know that the soul transcends these experiences and that love survives all rites of passage; transformation, separation, loss and initiation. Your acceptance of these powerful experiences enables you to guide others to face transformation and loss without fear.

Neptune opposed Ceres
You have a polarity in your life having to do with nurturance and closeness versus spiritual/psychic sensitivity and the urge for expanded awareness and transcendence. It may be that those who support and nourish you (in a mothering-type role) feel threatened by your sensitivity and desire for spiritual experience, or perhaps dont give validity to your subtle perceptions or the artistic and spiritual expressions engendered by them. Or maybe your spiritual path seems to require you to forego your most supportive and nurturing relationships. You may feel very torn between the need for close, nurturing bonds and the deep desire for expansion of spiritual experience and expressions. It is important to find a compromise so that both needs are met in your life, or you will be inclined to act out the dichotomy within the context of an oppositional relationship.

Venus rules your M.C

quote:

Venus trine or sextile Ceres
You love nature and all growing things, and are an excellent care giver and nurturer. You enjoy feeding people, creatures and plants, are probably a wonderful cook and gardener. You are gracious in giving, supportive of growth, but may find separation very difficult. Your bonds with loved ones tend to be very strong and deep.

Nurturing can take on different forms, in Gemini Ceres carries the ability to care through communication. Talking, listening, non-verbal communication are important to patients, children, and people who can benefit from our nuturing abilities in general.

Ceres in the 6th is a powerful placement for someone who wants to be a nurse.

quote:

Ceres in Gemini: Let's talk. Or write. Any sort of communication will make a Ceres in Gemini person feel nurtured. Gemini is also the sign of variety and short trips. Travel and doing several little tasks at once are other things that will bring up that nurtured feeling when Ceres is in Gemini.

Ceres in the Sixth House: Work could easily give you that nurturing feeling. People with this placement would either tend to nurture co-workers or feel nurtured by them. This placement can also feel nurtured by doctors and other health care workers.

Sun in the 6th is good for a career in health.

You have venus-ruled libra on the MC and that's good. Nursing is a venusian career.

I have a bunch of nurses in my family and almost became one myself. It's a lot of work. Very stressful with high burnout, but it's also more rewarding than most careers.
You'll always be able to fins a job - no matter where you go.

Good luck!

Hi Astra,

For a nursing vocation we can look to the Moon (the public), Cancer (maternal), Virgo (health, methodical, detailed), 6th house (work, service to others, duty), Neptune (sympathy, drugs, medications) and the 12th house (hospitals).

You have Moon in the 1st squaring your Venus, which is ruler of your MC and is also sitting opposite your MC. A Libra MC can indicate a need to work with others and thus the public. With Cancer on the Descendant you may want to work in a public career (nursing) and be involved with others directly because the ruler of your 7th house is in your 1st house. Your Sun in Gemini is on the cusp of the 6th house, which would be a good placement for someone who wants to work in a service field and to communicate. Mars in the 6th is opposed by Neptune in the 12th house. Neptune in 12th gives you a deep need to help others. The opposition from Mars in the 6th house of work and duty would aid you in that endeavour, by providing the drive to do it. However, because of the nature of Neptune, you must learn to be realistic, which I think would come easy to you with Neptune in Capricorn, a Capricorn Moon and a Capricorn Ascendant. With Pluto in the 10th house and conjunct the MC, you would do well in a career where you could be involved in transformation and regeneration. Being able to heal others through nursing would be an example of those attributes. You may want to be the charge or head nurse as well one day.

A Different Approach to Vocational Aptitudes by Marion March http://www.astrologysoftware.com/resources/articles/getarticle.asp?ID=78&orig=

Medicine
Here again we must decide what kind of medicine is practiced. Hospital workers need some 12th house/Pisces/Neptune emphasis. But if they are nurses and as such, are giving service, Virgo and the 6th house need to be brought into the picture. Medical technicians usually evince strong Aquarian and 11th house involvements, while medical research shows prominence for Pluto, Scorpio or the 8th house. Doctors fall into many of the above categories - more Pluto/Scorpio/8th house for the surgeon, more 5th house/Leo for the pediatrician as well as the heart specialist, etc. all medical personnel need strong Mercury in the horoscope.
