I was just diagnosed with bipolar disorder on the eve (more or less) of my first Saturn return. I am wondering if anyone has done any studies for placements or aspects indicating bipolar disorder...

Hi Alcheme

The Moon in tense aspect to Jupiter is one I have seen a few times on charts of people diagnosed with bi-polar or depression. This is just a handful of people though, from amongst my friends.

But I did find it interesting to open up Jeff Buckley's chart and find he has the opposition. I put it up on my page on Know Two Are Alike:

It's halfway down the second page. There are couple of interesting comments from other Lindalanders on there. There is a lot of other stuff up there as well that you will have to scroll through if you are interested in checking it out, so sorry for that!

Stephen Fry made a two-part documentary on Bi-Polar for the BBC (he has it himself)

He also thinks astrology is a load of rubbish, but here's his chart anyhow:

Alcheme, it doesnt look like it from your natal. I did only look at a few charts though.

Any chance you are Aquarius rising? That would work!

Fairly confident I am a Capricorn rising, and my mom has confirmed my time of birth. Cap rising fits me well, as do a lot of my house placements. Just curious if anyone had ever studied it...

Thanks for all the info guys!!!

The ruler of your ascendant is in the 8th house and the ruler of your 6th is in the 12th making a square to your asendant ruler and it is conjunct neptune.

This would usually point out someone who also takes drugs and likes to escape from their everyday world. Having sun in scorpio in a very intense water sign and then having a gemini moon is kinda hard as well. Theres a conflict between rational and emotional behaviour.

Was it only one person who said you might have bipolar because sometimes they can misdiagnose you simply because of the thngs you say when your stressed. I used to work in a mental institution and majority of the time ive sen so many people diagnosed with things like borderline personality and bipolar when theyre actually fine. Moon in gemini can cause mood swings as well.

My aunty who was diagnosed with anxiety and schitzophrenia started hearing voices and that around her staurn return as well.

She also has her ascendant ruler in 6th and her 6th house and 8th house ruler and the 12th house ruler in the 12th house. which is similiar to your chart.

The 6th,12 and 8th are the not so great houses and when you have them in aspect to your 12 or in the 12th it does show mental illess in most cases from what ive seen.

Heres my auntys chart also..

------------------
Sun.. Cancer

Moon.. Gemini

Mars.. Cancer

Mercury.. Cancer

Venus.. Leo

Ascendant....... Virgo

6th/12th house issues are to do with physical and mental health respectively. Usually in mental illness, both houses come into play. (As Belgz mentioned these houses along with 8th aren't great for mental health).

So here, mercury (ruler of 6th) is square jupiter (ruler of 12th). Plus having neptune (ruler of 3rd, communication) hovering around merc probably doesn't help, neither does the wide conj (out of house) with mars helps either (which square jupiter - exacerbation of mental issues and the "manic" bit). Also saturn (chart ruler) square your mercury, mars, neptune too, this might lead to the "depressive" bit. Moon also unaspected in gemini, might lead to aimless wandering of emotions.

With Belgz's auntie, ruler of her 6th and 12th are almost quincunx exact. Coincidentally mercury also ruler her IC and this is square jupiter (inner core is "manic")

However, I do remember that somehow the moon and ura come into play as well. I'll investigate a bit more

Wow, thanks for all the info!! It will take me a bit to digest it all...

I am fairly confident of the bipolar diagnosis, unless it is normal for people to living in some version of reality that you can only blurrily remember as a concept of tunnel reality for 3 to 6 months at a time (the details fit, but I would prefer to not discuss them)...

Drugs? Not so much... More my sister's realm. I prefer alcohol and pot (though, I quite that a while back because I hated the lethargy that came with it). I do drugs now, but they would be the "legal" ones. LOL! Gotta laugh, lest you cry... LOL!

Thanks again for the info!
