He kicked me to the curb 7 years ago after our brief but passionate 3-month involvement. I was 28, he was 22. After 3 years he's contacted me to make peace but it felt like he wanted to reconcile. I was married at the time and told him I couldn't stay in contact with him, but that I didn't hate him and it was all water under the bridge. Now I'm divorced and we're back in contact again, recently. I'm in Cairo, Egypt temporarily, he's in Napa, CA...I can't stop thinking about him, and he's telling me he's in the same boat. I have no idea what the heck this is, but I'm just rolling with it and trying not to read too much into it.
Here's our synastry chart. Maybe someone can shed some light:

I know the house placements and stuff, so I can kind of see the draw. I'm going to post some aspects. Don't know if any of this 'means' anything...

Don't know if posting the aspects helps any, but here goes:

Our suns are inconjunct, I think.
My moon opposes his sun
His sun conjunct my Venus
Our Venuses conjunct
His Sun squares my Jupiter
His Sun conjunct my Uranus
His Sun opposes my Chiron
His Moon sextiles my Venus, Saturn, trines my Mars, NN, BML, squares my Neptune and Juno.
My Sun conjunct his Vertex, opposes his Ascendant, sextiles his Uranus and Juno, trines his Chiron.
His Venus opposes my Mars.
Our Mars square each other (sounds pretty bad!)
His Mercury and Venus oppose my ascendant, his Jupiter, Moon, BLM, NN all trine my ascendant, and his Mars squares my ascendant.

His Saturn conjunct your Sun and your Uranus conjunct his Sun. There's always going to be a stop-start to this relationship from both sides.

saturn is the glue and the delay. Uranus the unpredicatibility. And those nice venus-sun, venus-venus connection the romantic backdrop so to speak

How do you experience his sun on your venus? (always interested in how that aspect works)

I don't know exactly how to describe it, anna, but it somehow always felt like his presence made me feel very feminine and desirable, like I was being admired by him under his direct gaze (whether or not he was/is physically there). It's like I feel beautiful just being around him or being in contact with him (and believe me, with so many of the terrible transits and experiences I've been going through in my whole life in the past year, this feels so incredibly pronounced).

I think it's kind of funny too, because I just did a progressed chart for myself and saw that my progressed sun is conjuncting my natal Venus. And also my Uranus, LOL. Don't know if it means anything, but I find the synchronicity a little odd...in a pleasant way

looks like it could be a great relationship, but uranus is always going to demand a little space (or is it spice?) i take it you know sun progressing to venus is the classic marriage timing indicator...can you (with your sun conj uranus) handle the uranian energy?? (that's a rhetorical question!!)

You know, katatonic, I am not so sure lol!
One thing which is REALLY weird is that this is the 3rd man in 6 months who I'm seriously interested in (well, he transcends 'interested') who has his Uranus bumping up into my 7th house. It's the equivalent of feeling really rocked to the core out of nowhere. The feelings just surge forward...and then backward. An astrologer friend told me that Uranus in the 7th is really hard because it makes the planet person seem detached sometimes and hard to pin down.
I think the only 'saving' grace for that here is my Uranus doing exactly the same thing to HIM!

As for progressions....I dunno. I have heard it's the time for something special like marriage to happen, or meet potential.
My transits are pretty hairy though. I've had transiting Saturn conjunct my Sun (which is in the 5th ) for the past year now, and it's only half-way done.
I've got transiting Pluto in the 8th (almost out though, thank goodness) squaring my poor sun also, and it's also squaring my natal Pluto.

It hasn't been fun, I'll tell you that!!
Whatever romantic potential now is really looking like it's going to need time and space to grow...I'm not even sure when I'd be moving back to San Francisco closer to him (which, oddly enough, was where I've been wanting to move back to for the past 2 years now).

It's just strange stuff....during a strange time, and I have no idea what to make of it

There's more aspects on this...if anyone can see anything right off the bat, I would really appreciate the feedback. I'm icked out by the conj. Saturn/Sun thing, but I dunno.

It's kind of hard to say too much without the aspects listed. It doesn't look like his Venus is conjunct your Sun...It does look like his Venus is conjunct your DC.

Can you list the degrees of your natal charts?

They're still readable. Your Sun and his Vertex are conjunct and transiting Uranus is going to hit this direct again. Transiting Saturn is also opposing it.

Vertex is known as "destiny's gate" and transits to it can make for life changing events in your life. (Being that his is conjunct your sun, it's likely that knowing him or his being in your life will have changed your life course or direction in some way.) With these transits activating it, it's no wonder that he's back in your life or on your mind. You have some other pretty significant things going on as well.

MVM don't be too afraid of the uranus/7th thing. it DOES prescribe a relationship that has built in flexibility, maybe even separate homes, but since you have plenty uranian energy yourself you probably can adjust to a uranian relationship.

grant lewi talks about saturn on the sun as a POWER time....i can't back that up or disprove it either...and pluto in the 8th! transformation AND get those yaya's out!

Katatonic....that 8th house Pluto is, thank goodness, almost over. I'm pretty sure it's close to getting out of my 8th. It's not been pretty. No yayas for MVM...that's been the partial frustration. I'm pretty sure that Pluto was square my Sun as well, and with Saturn there too, it has NOT been pretty.
It brought back this ex though, with whom I share this aspect...this was all during my Venus return also, and I'm getting the progressed sun conj. my Venus as well.

We shall seeeeeeeeeeee. It's been hell in a handbasket for the past year though

I think that's what they call it. I'm sure I'm wrong. It's when one works out the placements of the person who's compatible with YOU, a non existant somebody, according to YOUR chart. Like, as a Scorpio rising I should be compatible with someone with my DC as a major point on his chart. My Mars in Scorpio should go with a Venus like Scorpio and my Venus in Virgo should go with a Mars that will allow my Venus in fall to flourish more while still being compatible with the rest of my chart. So, an earthy Mars would be good since my sun, venus and DC are earthy. My Moon in Cancer would oppose a Cap Mars so again, Taurus would be good. Etc. Etc.

I find the exercise tedious and pointless because the possibilities are still too many for me. Also, houses and their rulers just make things more complicated for me.

Not to mention out of sign conjunct planets and other things like my NN which should be in a good house because if the NN represents our destiny, then we should have compatible destinies. In fact, I'm not sure what I was doing yesterday which I happened to call reverse astrology.

OK, just a few things that I noticed:

* Is Juno squ Vx? That might have some sort of marriagey type feel thing to it.
* Venus conj DC is very pleasant and a biggie - you're instinctively drawn to how he loves
* Ura in 7th gives the electric feeling but it is very erratic, on-off, double whammy
* Your Sun in his 7th - he's instinctively drawn to your ego, and it's the other way around too
* Soo much of your stuff is in his 7th!
* Your Moon in his 1st - deep feelings, this placement I think is common in marriages
* His Chiron is conj your ASC/Mars - so maybe he's got some sort of healing/karmic feeling there to you - whatever it is, you will not be able to hide your sexuality and martian qualities from him.
* Vx/Saturn conj Sun - Saturn conj Sun is common in families and is indissolvable (I have it with my dad for example, I'm Saturn) and Vx conj Sun is definitely an opening of the door for a relationship.
* Neptune in 8th - I suspect that this is undercurrent stuff. I'm not sure of the exact meaning but it seems pretty intense. However it would be generational
* All that stuff that falls in the 5th, esp Node and his BML makes you act BML around him.
* There might be squares between planets and both of your Nodes - please tell me if there is.
* Sun opp Moon is a very clear compatibility thing, usually it happens with the Man's Moon and Female's Sun though but still it is good the other way around
* Venus-Sun conj is nice too.
* Sun/Pluto conj Ura - you must be a thrill to him.
