progressed planets/charts are more 'internal' changes, evolvements rather than 'events or external' matters. I don't read prog charts as stand alones it's more important to see where these planets are moving in the natal chart

Your natal chart is like a photograph as unique as your fingerprint, BUT the 10planets in the sky have not stayed where they were in your natal chart, they have all moved. Predictive astrology is mostly maths where those 10planets are now and the mathematical aspects they make to your natal charts ie: 180'=opposition, 90'=square, 60'=sextile and 120'=trine.

So your personality, grows, develops, changes, matures as we get older, this is reflected by your sun sign changing from it's natal position to the next sign along, so does your Asc and MC sign change. In fact from sun to mars especially are important, as the outer planets really don't move much, using a 'day for a year' secondary progressions.

What's the difference between Transits and Progressions?

The most important of progressed planets is of course, sun & moon and then upto mars, as the outer planets hardly move by progression. Now like with transits, solar arcs --- it's what these progressed planets are doing NOW by mathematical aspect to your natal planets and Angles that is ultimately important.

Hi everyone! This thread is a little old, but I hope we can revive it with our experiences.
I have been rereading this page throughout the time and must agree with what you said above as i am now going thru progressed Sun conjunct natal Pluto. And it is hard.

Yes, it is an inner experience based on my own current experience, very much so, but it has external effects as well and it is just as powerful.
My Pluto is in 6th house, so my progressed Sun just conjunct it. My health fell apart. I have developed a debilitating condition, which is very difficult to figure out how to deal with and although there are therapies that help, they are of course out of my reach since I am unable to work due to my condition. Pluto in 6th is intense.
The beginning of this condition was a total devastation. I was isolated, alone, lonely, seeing no hope in the future and feeling like a dead person, yet existing. I hit the rock bottom, appropriate for Pluto. But then I found some wonderful explanation for pluto in 6th, which gave purpose to what I am experiencing - the explanation says that I will go in life thru’ periods of health loss in order to gain empathy for the suffering of others, those i will help in my life. It also signifies interest in hospice work and psychotherapy. Well, needless to say, this is exactly the life direction I was getting ready to go to, but was confused and procrastinating due to other life details.
This health problem opened up my understanding for the suffering of others and as soon as I get better, this is exactly what i will do. I will no longer pursue things I did before, but was unhappy about them. I will pursue what enriches my life and where I can give something back. Pluto in 6th is very interested in service and intense vocation, so my progressed Sun conjuncting it, it highlights natal Pluto’s aspects, energies and in the 6th it is matters related to health, work, coworkers, body, service, etc My area is mainly health and service (vocation, mission, job).
It makes sense to me that when Sun hits a natal planet, the qualities and nature of that planet will meet us from within and we will seek those experiences.

The progressions can be interpreted just the same as transits. A classic text is Robert Hand's Planets in Transit.

Just know that progressions operate within far tighter orbs than transits. 1° is too wide even for the Sun. The widest active orb for the aspects made by Sun or Moon is 0°15' (because of the apparent width of their discs is about 1/2 degree) and are most active within single digits 0°09'.

It is most likely that you were experiencing far more than just this single progression of Sun to natal Pluto.
