Does transiting Uranus through your 8th House, mean there will be an unexpected death? I also heard this can mean sudden loss of money as well.

Anything Uranus makes me uneasy cause it's always unpredictable and shocking. Since 8th house is known for death, sex, and money, I'm scared of what Uranus strolling through it will be like!

When Uranus was transiting my 7th house, I got married suddenly, then divorced just as quickly. Uranus kicked my butt, and left my me spinning, wondering what the heck happened. It's just so unexpected and sudden, so it caught me off guard.

I would like a little rest from unpredictablility for a while. Some nice, solid, stability would be nice. But seeing that Uranus is visiting my 8th House soon, I'm a bit tense, and scared.

Does anyone have any experiences/information they could share?

Uranus in 8th can be unexpected debt (8th house is other people's money
It can be unexpected things involving your partner's money(8th house is 2nd house from the 7th house)

it also can be experimenting sexually and/or exciting sex or having sex with somebody that is unconventional or even very different from you in some way

It can also be stuff like being an activist in regards to sexual matters....like being an activist for gay rights...or could be an activist in regards to reproduction issues.

Katatonic, I'm so sorry to hear about your father's death. That must have been a painful time for you, especially being so young. Did you have any natal planets in hard aspect to transiting Uranus, like the Sun, which is supposed to represent the father?

In the past 3 years, I have lost my grandmother, 2 aunts, (one who I was very close with) my dog, and my husband (but the husband was through divorce not death, but a loss nevertheless)

I feel like there has been so much loss and sorrow the past few years, and Uranus was just transiting my 7th house. Now it's approaching my 8th house, and I'm thinking to myself, "Does this mean more death???" There has been too much sorrow.

My 8th house cusp is Pisces, but the majority of the house is placed in Aries. I don't know what this means.

Glaucus, thank you for your reply. I don't know how Uranus will play out...in death, sex, or debts, or all of the above. All of these are areas that I feel very uncomfortable with. Are there any indicators that I should look at, that will give me some clues to what areas in my life it will affect?

Thank you both for sharing your knowledge and experiences with me!

Thank you so much Glaucus. That is very nice of you to offer.

It's a bit complicated cause I have 2 charts that I waiver back and forth with. Reason being my mom and dad can't seem to agree on what time I was born. My dad says 11:50 am, my mom says 11:30 am. This wouldn't be such a big issue, other than the fact that those 20 minutes are the deciding factor in whether I'm a Virgo Rising, or Leo Rising which are completely different.

The 11:50 chart shows Uranus still in my 7th House, while the 11:30 chart shows Uranus already in my 8th house. (Which would maybe explain all the deaths the past few years, but I don't know. I'm not sure which one to use, and I don't want to choose one over the other just cause it seems to "fit" the circumstances at the moment.)

I don't have a great internet connection at home, (it's snail slow) so I will post both charts tomorrow morning when I get into the office.

Thanks so much for taking the time Glaucus!
Have a great night!

Just a money question - why would Uranus transit in the 8th house only mean sudden debt, why not also sudden gain...?

I find this Uranus transit (7th&8th houses) really frustrating as it is so difficult to interpret, and those houses are about relationships.
Uranus has been hanging around my 7th and 8th houses for years now.

transiting Uranus in 8th house can indicate sudden debt or possibility of sudden gain.

it really depends on the aspects

8th house transits are very common in debts....especially with Saturn and outerplanets

2nd house is house of one's own money
8th house is house of other's money (2nd house from 7th house....so it can be partner's money)

I also pointed out that Uranus in 8th can be unexpected things involving partner's money.

Thank you, Glaucus, for the explanation.
I asked, because I don't want to see Uranus transits only in a negative light (and maybe hoping for some unexpected money ;-))

Actually, some unexpected things about money and other people have indeed happended to me: I have lent out money to some people (two, in fact), which I never used to do before.

Anyway, Uranus is a strange planet, and I really don't know what to expect when it goes back to my 7th house...
EDIT: I calculated wrongly, it will not go back to my 7th house, but it will be hanging around my 7th progressed house (and the 8th natal).

I have seen it happen several times that when transiting Uranus made a hard aspect to the ruler of the natal 8th house someone passed away rather unexpectedly. However, in all these cases there were transits from Pluto and Mars active as well.

For instance, when my paternal grandmother died, my father had...
*transiting Uranus opposite his natal Uranus (ruler of his 8th house)
*transiting Pluto sesquiquadrate his natal Uranus and square his natal Pluto
*transiting Mars conjunct his natal Pluto

At the same time I had...
*transiting Uranus square my natal Mars (co-ruler of my 8th house)
*transiting Pluto conjunct my natal Saturn in the 8th house
*transiting Mars semisquare my natal Mars.

When the grandmother of my closest friend passed away rather suddenly he had...
*transiting Uranus conjunct his natal Moon (ruler of the 8th house) and IC and opposite his natal Mars
*transiting Mars square his natal Mars
*transiting Pluto square his natal Saturn

At the same time his brother had...
*transiting Uranus conjunct his natal Mars (co-ruler of his 8th house)
*transiting Mars square his natal Mars and opposite his natal Saturn in the 8th
*transiting Pluto conjunct his natal Uranus

Long story short, transiting Uranus does seem to be connected to the 8th house principles somehow.

If Uranus has nothing to do with 8th house, there will nothing happen.
I had in Solar 2007/08 Uranus in 8th: my debts didn't go up and didn't disappear (although very known Astrologer wrote to me, my debts will disappear - they are still there).

The sample reason:
my Uranus and 8th house have nothing in common.

SagSun, the co-rulers of my 8th house are (Pisces/Neptune and Aries/Mars), the point when Uranus starts to touch my 8th house , it will be exactly square my natal Neptune.

So if what you say is true, I should expect a loss. Uranus will also be square my Moon, which represents the "mother"? Could this be a clue? (I really hope not!!!)

I know I can't control fate, and have to accept whatever happens, but my parents and my daughter are everything to me in this world. I've lost so much family recently, in such sudden and unexpected ways. I think anymore loss would just break me right now.

It's frustrating cause I have 2 different possible times Iw as born, so things are slightly different depending on which time I go with.

Thank you for your input SagSun, a bit disheartening news, but very informative. I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your grandmother. I hope all is well with your family

Glaucus, what you said about the 8th house being other people's money....that the 8th money is possibly the 2nd House (self) money from the 7th House (partner). As you know I've been through a divorce this past year, which involves settlements, child support all of that. Which has a LOT to do with partner's money. I've also lost many relatives the past 2 years. All the things that have been happeneing to me feel very 8th house.

One chart shows my Uranus right on the border of my 8th house. The other, shows it approaching but still a little bit away. Can 8th house energy play out, as the planet approaches the house, and not necessarily only when it's in the house?

I've posted both my 2 charts below. Thanks again for taking a look at these!

hmmmmmm...this is complicated because you have two different charts

Yes...a planet can affect the house if its close to the cusp of that house within 3 degrees.

From what it looks like, Transiting Uranus in 8th is squaring your Moon in 10th,and so unexpected, instability can affect not lunar lunar things(women, especially mother, feelings, emotions, the public),but also 10th house things (career, social status, ambitions, aim of life)..there could be some emotional upset due to financial issues whether you are having problems with money or your friends are having problems with money and ask you for some.....especially.....

in one of the charts, moon rules 11th house, and so that would involve friendships, community ,social collective,hopes/aspirations.

In the other chart, moon rules 12th house, and so would involve institutions, selfless service, mystical, emotional collective, psychic things, compassion

Transiting Uranus in your 8th trine Uranus in 3rd, and so unexpected, unpredictable things involving communications, siblings, transportation, short travels.

Uranus rules 7th house in both charts, and so unpredictable things can involve your relationships, partnerships.

I also wonder if you could meet somebody that your mom might not approve of because he's very different in some way..especially in how he makes his money.. seeing how your Moon is quincunx to your Uranus, and transiting Uranus in 8th is forming a Mystical Triangle with it by trining your Uranus and squaring your Moon.

This transit can indicate spiritual awakening of some kind that can involve sudden insights,as well as could attract you to very unusual people, and some might ask for your help. There is a chance that you can be taken advantage of if you're not careful. Also you could meet end up being in a relationship with a very unusual person that could even make his money in unusual ways, and this might be something that your mother and others in your family might not approve of.

most of all, be aware that you might become more detached and some people might think you can be too impersonal. That's common with Uranus transits. You can be more spontaneous in your social interaction with others too.

It's a good time to study Astrology too.

@GemGemGem

Don't worry about the future ... I don't think that a single transit can bring the loss of someone dear. It's been my personal experience that there are at least 2-3 hard transits from Mars, Uranus and Pluto going on at the same time when someone close to us passes away. And even then, it doesn't always have to be the physical death of a person that is indicated by the planets. Sometimes it just means that a part of you "dies" because your personality changes fundamentally. Or money matters could become a little unpredictable. There are just so many possibilities...

Actually, when looking at transits I never pay attention to transits that could potentially predict someones death. I don't think it's on us to know these things in advance (or at least I don't want to know them). Only after someone has died I take a closer look at transits. I don't want to freak myself out over things that might not even happen.

So, I hope everything will be fine with you and your loved ones!!!

Sorry to make you do double to work Glaucus!
I know it's quite tedious having to look at both charts. Welcome to my world. I always reference both, sometimes my situation fits one, sometimes the other. Sometimes I feel Virgo-esque, sometimes Lioness. Bringing Gemini into the mix doesn't help matters either, cause I change with the seasons!

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my charts. Since my moon is being squared, I'm trying to examine whether I feel the square acting up more as the moon, ruler of the 11th house or 12 house, since the 2 charts show differences.

I definitely feel a bit distanced from women, a bit emotionally detached, and my relationship with my mother hasn't been the greatest (even though I love her dearly) since I moved back in with her and my dad.
Moon also represents home life right? That definitely got flipped upside down, with the divorce. He got the apartment, and I moved out, homeless, with nothing but my clothes.

Uranus in my 7th house - unpredictability in relationships! You couldn't be more RIGHT with that one. Every relationship I've had has turned out completely different than how I'd imagine it to play out. I don't even bother anymore to have any expectations.

Hmmm, it's intriguing about the possible meeting of someone who is a bit unusual. I would really like that. But knowing my bad luck and Uranus, he'll probably end up being unusual in a sick and twisted way! haha. I have to laugh or else I'll cry!

I've also started reading a lot of books on spirituality, astrology, and just recently, on death. Deepak Chopra has a great book out called Life after Death, The Burden of Proof, that I can't put down.

I'm still quite scared about the possible death with the Uranus in the 8th House, with the hard aspects and all, but I really appreciate your examination of the possible other meanings of the 8th house/Uranus aspects.

Oh, and as for that last note about becoming too detached. I do in fact find myself keeping a distance from people now, and putting my wall up with everyone I meet, male or female. I will try to be mindful of this.

Thank you Glaucus!
I hope everything in your life is well, and happening as you wish!

Ok, now I'm scared. Currently I have uranus transiting the eight house and in the near future I will also have neptune there and it will stay for like 15 years. So, will I be having economical problems forever?? I'm not so scared about death, because I think it probably has more to do with pluto.

Just a general observation: it is not possible to see death beforehand in a chart, only in retrospect. Many people can share the same transit, yet it is manifested in quite different ways in their lives.

I remember someone posting here about the death of her father. She had compared her chart with those of her siblings (there were several of them), and they all had VERY different transit aspects (transit aspects to natal houses and natal planets) at the time of their father passing away.

I find it quite consoling.

Triplecancer, I hear ya! I'm going to have Neptune going through my 7th for about 14 years, which is NOT a good thing for my love life!

Uranus going through my 8th for the next 7 years, which at some point will oppose my natal Pluto! I'll be right there with you through the pain. As Glaucus has generously done for me, examine any aspects transiting Uranus may be making to your natal planets, and look to the ruler of your 8th as well for clues. There are so many ways it could manifest.

Keep us updated on your experiences with this transit. We can share war stories!

I'm travelling to Italy on Saturday and the whole Uranus 8th house transit, has me scared, and writing my last will and testament before I go. haha. I'll be one of those nervouse twitchy people on the plane!

Gem - i would definitely go with your mom's time - dads tend to be a bit beside themselves when kids are born, and moms do tend to remember very well what time it was...

as i mentioned i CAME INTO MONEY with uranus in the 8th. AND had a lot of bizarre sexual experiences during that time! when my dad died uranus was trining my natal jupiter, and pluto, 5deg away, was 3 deg from my natal venus (past it!) at the same time trans saturn was squaring my jupiter and making a perfect YOD to transiting Neptune (exactly on my MC at the time) and Uranus. a sun/mars conj was sitting on my natal mars/uranus and squaring the moon around about the time of his death...

hope you're not too bored by the intricate details but they do all point to the situation as it stood. thank you for your sympathy but it was a long time ago and in many ways a relief, though obviously it was sad and unexpected it was not really a surprise because of his situation and mood for some time before - i have always seen his death as a suicide, whether conscious or not.

oh and saturn was in the firsthouse (chart of his deathtime) conj his mars/venus at the time, chiron squaring his pluto...

to add to the above - no more specifics but just the suggestion that all transits have a number of possible manifestations. as reminded by abraham-hicks this morning, the planets and transits cannot be held responsible - it is up to us to envision and "resonate" with the manifestations that we want and not draw in the disasters with our fearful "resonations". of course sometimes bad things happen under scary transits and with hindsight we can see how much good was brought about by those "bad" things - which is why, i guess, they say "god works his wonders in mysterious ways..."

in other words, don't worry, it really is ALL GOOD...

Thanks for talking some sense into me Katatonic. I know I shouldn't be caught up on knowing about death before it's time.

I don't know enough about astrology to understand the intricate details of the aspects happening at your father's death, but it looks as if there was a lot going on, and much too complicated a thing to ever be able to predict.

You are probably the only person on this thread to say you gained money from a Uranus transiting the 8th. Everyone else seems to be talking about debt and losing money. The bizarre sexual encounters perked me up. But then I realized a person has to actually have sexual encounters for the possiblity of the bizarre to be part of them...my sex life is non-existent. Maybe I should start a thread about what in my chart makes me such a prude!

I'm off to Italy tomorrow, and of course the whole death thoughts have me scared, but i will try to stay positive and concentrate on the gorgeous men instead.

Thanks so much for sharing katatonic.

a little reminder

Uranus is exalted in the 8th house
this transit could also be a metaphysical awakening.
Dreams, psychic impressons, Astrology, etc.
could come into focus during this transit.
followed by an Epiphany

I found this, and I can relate to it it:

"Uranus’s transit through your eighth house will refocus your attention from the conscious to the subconscious forces that are operating in your life. Through sudden unexpected events you will be forced to look at your life in new and startling ways. You will become aware of restrictions placed on you by yourself or others that have become intolerable now. What up until now has been change through evolution, now becomes change through revolution. The most dangerous aspect of this transit is that you may confuse obligations with restrictions. They are not the same thing. Obligations that you have made may are may not have a restricting influence on your life, but must be handled intelligently and ethically. Other restrictions that have been imposed on you by yourself, or by others that keep you from growth, should be thrown off."
