Can anyone explain to me how the descendant comes out in us, apart from what type of partner we seek?Does the descendant have a large affect on our personality please?

I read (somewhere) about the DC being the shadow, the parts we generally dont accept about ourselves, maybe you know more about that than me. I can see that being somewhat accurate.IP: Logged |

what do you see as being somewhat accurate? The bits l don't accept are the social and air kissy parts of me. I only act out of a need for freedom... l won't accept conventionality nor rules in any form which is so bad. IP: Logged |

I'm really not so sure the Descendant is exemplified through ourselves. I can, though, see the idea from the side of us we don't really like since the Seventh house is the house of our open enemies.IP: Logged |

I wouldn't attribute it to that. I'm a very liberal-minded person as well, and Virgo falls on my Descendant and I totally lack air placements, so the normal guesses of "Oh, you've got something in Libra or Aquarius" is off-base. There's more to it than that. IP: Logged |

that is interesting as scorp is my dc and I tend not to blend well with scorpio's nor do I like seeing those typical scorpio traits in myself. I fight them and try not to own them and get embarassed like I should be above those emotions. possessive, jealous, obsessive...etc.IP: Logged |

I read somewhere once that the Sign on your Fourth cusp was a Sign you didn't get along with. Not sure where the validity comes in with that, but it's out there somewhere.Don't you love the internet? Anyone can write anything... IP: Logged |

My DSC is in Sagittarius, but since I'm already so Sagittarian, it's easy to accept that as a part of myself. What I don't accept are the planets that are in my 7th (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune). I tend to project those planets onto other people.IP: Logged |

Kai, someone with your 4th house sign is square you ASC, which can be fine for not getting along with them.Lara. I dont really look for the DC as part of shadow much, though my sister can be very Leonine at times. IP: Logged |

Yeah that's weird, because my descendant is Scorpio but I get along GREAT with them (specifically Scorpio women I love...can it be because of my Venus though???). I do struggle with the jealousy, intensity, obsession, etc.., but I also feel like it's part of who I am. Interesting about the 4th house cusp comment though...mine's Cancer and I've always had a weird love/hate thing with them (mostly I want to strangle them and then comfort them too...odd)...but then I look at it and see my Saturn's in Cancer. LOL. I give up!! IP: Logged |

Yes to the shadow thing. And it doesn't go away unless a light is shone on it, meaning owning it.

My DSC is in Taurus and I generally do not like Taurus suns, although Taurus sun men are very attracted to me. There is always a blandness that I see in them. However, my Venus (likes, preferences) is in Scorpio and so opposes my 7th house..which may be why I don't usually like Taurus. However, I found I do really like other Taurus placements..the two men I have ever loved had Taurus moon. A guy I like right now has Venus in Taurus. I have been extremely attracted to a few guys with Mars in Taurus ------------------ Capricorn sun / Scorpio rising / Sagittarius moon Mercury:: Sagittarius Venus::Scorpio Mars::Pisces IP: Logged |

I don't knowMy Descendant is in Pisces, and my Moon is in Pisces squares Neptune - double Moon-Neptune whammy. I also have Venus parallel Neptune. I am very Piscean/Neptunian, and I don't mind having a Piscean/Neptunian for a partner. The woman that I love has Pisces Ascendant, and she has a stationary Neptune conjunct South Lunar Node-Midheaven conjunction, trine Mars, sextile Moon-Saturn-Pluto conjunction, and sesquiquadrate Venus IP: Logged |

Very true, and I hadn't thought of that, but I'm not sure our ascending Sign influences us much besides the way we physically look and react to situations, also I see no such argument for the Sign on the Tenth cusp being a Sign we dislike as the opportunity for a Square aspect is there as well. Even more of a case in the Tenth/Fourth dislike Square discussion would be the Square from the Tenth to the First would be Dexter, so the Tenth house cusp would over-power the First house cusp, irritating it in a way the Sinister Square from the Fourth wouldn't. But who's to say, really. quote: because obviously we are supposed to find our mate in our DC... so?
Thinking the Descending Sign describes them physically, while the position the Lord of the Seventh is in describes their personality and habits. IP: Logged |

so... if uranus is ruler of 7th and it is placed in 8th house, the personality is sexy in an uranus kind of way? So the look of the person is the DC? I thought the AC was the look... hmm ok IP: Logged |

No, you totally misunderstood. The First house describes physical appearance. The Seventh house is the First house of the mate you're seeking, therefore, the Seventh house describes their physical appearance.Actually, the person would look like an Aquarius, but act like whatever shape Saturn is in. It's a traditional aphorism, so you have to follow traditional rules while interpreting it. IP: Logged |
